Dr. Donald Berwick will make an excellent director of CMS. He has profound knowledge of the problems in our dysfunctional health care system. I have just finished the manuscript "Creative Design for Healthcare Reform" addressing the problems, identifying their root causes and proposing the solution, a vision for the future, if you will. The book will be available at Amazon by late August, 2010. Dr Berwick, as director of CMS, is one of the key players in this solution.

It is. At least part of it. There's a more complete text version if you google around for it.

Patient Narratives are never shared and each care giver in each facility my mother was in never knew my mother's history, needs, likes, dislikes and what she was suffering with. A whiteboard on the wall said broken leg and failed to say stroke. She suffered both on January 8th, 2019 and between fifteen doctors, not one spoke to the other about treatment. What they knew of a schedule. If this, then that. The main criticism I have was that each specialist was independent contractors that had no idea what the hospital was doing or what the other doctors had in mind. Other than a chart stating, she needs surgery on her leg before we can treat stroke because the pain interferes with the diagnosis. It was too late to reverse or treat the enclosed carotid artery because 48 hours passed before the neurologist spoke to the other doctor. We can start by getting lobbyist out of our politics. Pharm and Insurance companies are pushing their agenda and it's not in our best interest. Especially when it comes to environmental pollutions and processed foods loaded with sugars and dyes. It took millions of years for our planet to create a life sustaining synergetic relationship between plants and animals and up until the 1900's, we have witnessed a pandemic of obesity and cancers. Doctors are not trained on nutrition and life style changes to treat or reverse disease. Instead, our Pharm companies have you convinced that we need drugs to stay healthy while being overweight. How many stints can you fit in your arteries before it's too late? I know a lady with 7.

Medical mistakes do happen, but why is it so hard to find a comparison of American system mistakes to other countries? Maybe we are worse than other countries, but it's a question that never seems to be asked.

Luckily med errors have been eradicated by 98% since the invention of computer charting. There were a lot of issues with paper charts. And this is the big take away.
