During the 61st convocation ceremony of #iit Madras held today, a student named Dhananjay Balakrishnan, who won the Governor’s Prize for the best all round proficiency in curricular and extra-curricular activities, spoke about the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict and asked the graduating students to aware of the consequences of the work they do
The student spoke about how several prestigious companies, including tech giants, are directly or indirectly implicated in the war against #palestine by providing Israel the technology to kill.
After saying that he would be doing an “injustice” if he failed to say something “important” on the stage he was presented with, Dhananjay said: “This is a call for action. There is a mass genocide happening in Palestine. People are dying in fast numbers and there is no visible end in sight. Why should we be bothered by this, you ask? Because #stem as a field in itself has been historically been used to advance the ulterior motives of the imperial powers, such as Israel. As engineering students, we work hard to get top level jobs with tech giants which offer very lucrative pays and great benefits. However, these tech giants control various aspects of our lives today. Many of these prestigious companies are also directly or indirectly implicated in the war against Palestine by providing Israel with technology, technology that’s used to kill.”

First of all, it's commendable that this person stands up for humanity. However, problems arise when selectivity is involved, as it can expose hypocrisy or double standards. For example, has he ever addressed the Kashmir issue? It seems not.

It would be better if he talked about climate change catastrophe , and in that as a sub points somewhere talk about the Israel - Palestine conflict, coz climate change catastrophe is directly related to every one in the world , especially us INDIANS... not saying that his speech is bad or something, but just saying that the more devastating catastrophe should be addressed first...

Gaza is in News that is why this hue and cry. (It is truly unfortunate that the geo politics is playing out such a catastrophe). If you see, world over at some place, eg., in Africa, such horrendous things are happening continuously. Many of these do not get such a lime light. Another example is for pharma drugs, 3rd world is just a lab to try out new drugs. No solutions at individual level except for prayers. I appreciate he dared to bring out some good points.
