I have a doubt that in case of nominal dataset it is given that "when the data for a variable consists of names and lables and are used to identify the characteristics of the observation" but inthis case suppose for only the student file what are the nominal scales of measurement except the name and as per my understanding all the field groups that are given consists of names and lables like "name" same as "Marks in 10", etc.. So whether all the fields are considered to be the nominal scale.. Actually i am in need of a proper and simplified version of the above mentioned statement about the definition of the nominal scale of measurement.. Pls mam help..

We need scales of measurement to know whether we can perform arithmetic operations on the numerical data. And scales of are quantities which give meaning to the numerical data like weight is measured in kg etc this is explained in a previous lec and the above one is explained in this lec itself fist watch lec carefully and then complain

Because temperature increases exponentially. It is not linear. Google it for more details :)

@@sreewave thats not the exact explanation , linear and exponential growth depends on the setup , it is because we measure temp in kelvin and fahrenheit too and when you convert celceius into those units you will see they arent twice anymore , also you cant do arithmetics on "hot" , "warm" , "cold"

Absolute zero temperature is 0 Kelvin. 20 degree Celsius is 293 Kelvin and 40 degree Celsius is 313 Kelvin. By seeing above numbers u can tell that 40 degree Celsius is not twice that of 20 degree Celsius. To be twice the hot it has to be 586 kelvin or 313 degree celcius

Good Question. The simple answer would be that Absolute Zero represents a starting point. Prof. Usha Mohan used a good example of temperature. The commonly used scales of Centigrade and Fahrenheit do not have a starting point on their own. But the Kelvin scale has a starting point called Absolute Zero. Example: I can ask ten people to stand in a line such that they are 2 metres away from each other. But to know how far each one is from me, I would require the line to start from me (starting point) and that would make me the absolute zero.
