A balance of game sense/good communication + mechanical skill is wayyyy more valuable than just pure aim. So many players just grind aim and ignore a lot of the other 50% of the game. I've tried to nicely talk with several teammates I've ran with over the years about strategy or comms and a lot of people have dezigns outlook on things and get upset when anything other than the mechanical part is talked about. Sucks how much depth team play has in this game that's so overlooked :/

I have this talk with my buddy all the time actually just last night. I've noticed yeah you want good gun skills but that goes away when facing good comp teams in apex. You gotta coordinate attacks. If not they're gonna gape you out one by one.

Ofc this is true. Like 100 players i know of with way better aim than any MnK pro but they just arent good enough at the game to be a pro. Go look at kovaaks world records in popular scenarios and check out some of these guys aim, looks like hacks tbh. Pretty much all of them have youtube channels with the world record vods and ofc most stream them playing the game.

Everybody sucks at everything; over your life you develop skills/experience in various veins of focus, new things in that same vein of focus will come easier the more experience you have in it (everything in life: cleaning, sports, video games, design, construction, reading, literally any skill/talent).. expect to be bad at new things, that's normal, those early (well all failures, but especially early) failures are chockfull of lessons/insights (and they'll likely be fundamental, easiest/most important skills for you to learn/start developing/maintaining) if you look/ask/reflect (keep trying: the more you fail > the more you learn > the better you get > the less you fail).

Because Dezign is an incredible fighter. He consistently does damage and his unpredictable playstyle makes him hard to fight against. His playstyle is focused on overextending deliberately to get an opening pick or off angle, and he just dies for that on Bloodhound or really any character without movement abilities. He'd need to put the time in to change his playstyle, but he is by all means one of the hardest guys to take a 1v1 against in ALGS.

He had an opportunity to grind it out last year, or right after Horizon got nerfed. The meta has been bang blood for over a year now, and I'm pretty sure Horizon got nerfed closer to 1 1/2 ago. Could've hunkered down and learned positioning now, instead he's just trying to bide time until the dev's decide to revamp Horizon into the meta with some other new buffed character.

Smoke will always be meta because it is such a powerful tool for micro rotations. This is why they use smoke in the real military. The ability to effectively blind the enemy is such a powerful tool for strategic repositioning. This is why Catalyst and Caustic are so powerful too, because Caustic Gas and Catalyst wall also blind the enemy. The only way Bang will not be meta is if they severely nerf the smoke cd and make her unviable. Same with wall hacks for the exact opposite reason. The only way bang and blood will not be viable in any meta is if they give the other heroes such major buffs as to make them completely OP.

I think its not a matter of ''controller brain''. My friend (diamond) plays controller he's maining Gibby but can play Bloodhound, Caustic, Bangalore at a pretty good level. Its not the controller brain but the effort you put to learn other characters/meta. Dezign can absolutely learn other legends he's absolutely good on this game but I think he does not want to spend his time and energies in learning other legends or maybe he just really thinks that Wraith is good for Dsg's playstyle

Im a wraith main since launch day but I think its mindboggling to see Wraith in ALGS. Its 100% proven not a good character. Even I as a solo que player recognize Wraith is horrible once I get to plat lobbies. U need characters who actually help the team, Wraith never has done that.

Wraith portal is really underrated and got them 7th at LAN. She's just being countered by the current meta characters. Blood means you can't really walk up on anything without people knowing you're doing it. Caustic and Cat can simply deny your team the ability to take the portal. Blood/Bang combo in general just loves to run at shit so if there are no other teams around you will simply get hard ran at before your team gets to stabilize/set up after porting.

ANY character is viable if you play them right, yesterday i was solo q wattson, i’ve played her less than about 50 times and yet i still picked up 12 kills. imagine if i was able to make riskier pushes and get out, i’d have had at least 16

I think MnK players are mostly coping regarding AA and the input is way stronger than they make it out to be, but Timmy is actually cooked if he thinks Bloodhound is better on MnK than on controller lol you want to use ult to be in peoples faces, preferably in smoke. The advantage MnK gives you on Blood is better utilization of the movement speed (makes a huge difference tap strafing) and no difference between in smoke vs non smoke aiming. Both of these are situational, being able to hipfire a havoc or devo with the added consistency of AA, while sliding at someone with blood ult popped is just huge and always relevant. Fights in ALGS don't take long because you simply cannot afford to take too long due to how many teams are alive. You have to have two absolute psychopaths on Blood+1(usually Bang) to just run at people. It's a playstyle more suited to controller (favored up close). If the meta transitions into a Controller-focused pokefest (with snipers and marksmans being more relevant than the Hemlock/Nemesis) there's definitely a case for double MnK meta though, especially with the rise of mechanical demons that seemingly get better every week like Zer0, StrafingFlame, EZFlash, YukaF etc.

You can't handwave AA as cope when every other comp game splits inputs and has lower values overall. Also, bang players don't need to be on controller. Zero etc. Smokes n snipes are my fav way to avoid AA bullshit. I'm hoping you're right that mech skill becomes more necessary. He played BH yes. He is good enough mechanically to be a top Bloodhound he'd just need to put the time in. His playstyle synergizes well with Wraith and Horizon because he likes deliberately overextending for an angle or opening pick (which is also why he runs Sentinel). He's really good at what he does when he gets to play his game. It just doesn't work on Blood because he doesn't have a way out of those positions.

It is an mnk meta kinda. The main core rn of Blood/Bang can be played on MnK plus Fuse who is strong af its way easier on MnK. Hemlock and Havoc are good on MnK bc it is not a SMG meta anymore, and finally you got some teams running double MnK and doing great like NRG and Furia.
