Klipsch RP 600M vs Q Acoustics 3030i

I have the Q Acoustics 3020i on order, they arrive Tuesday (even the 3010i would do wonders in my small bedroom system). I have a love/hate relationship with Klipsch, but I think the RP-600M II solved a lot of the problems. Klipsch often sounds better in side by side comparisons on KZbin, because they sound more crisp and exciting, but the majority of them sound shouty with recessed mids to me. I thought the 3030i sounded more laid back but more coherent in this comparison. Both are good sounding and the RP-500M II and RP-600M II change my mind about Klipsch, they are great.

Some possible suggestions: 1) The Q Acoustics sound tonally nice, but sound cogested. Use a really superb higher power amp that will open these gems up. 2) The Klipsch are already open and dynamic, but tonally skewed. Use a really good tube amp with, most likely best, the EL34 output tubes. The result would be more tonally complimentary! You'll get another gem.

Having owned a Klipsch rp150m, i can tell that snare drums are so recessed and dont have that nice full WHACK sound with drums as other speakers. I also noticed this when demo them with Sony cs5. However acoustic guitar is crisp and perfect on the Klipsch.

It's easy to be enamored with more top-end emphasis in the short term. That extra 'air' around the sound makes the speaker seem more detailed (especially if the midrange is a bit recessed as well), but it's also often indicative of a speaker that won't handle a wide variety of recordings and musical styles without fatigue.

Love the airiness of Klipsch but adore the restrained sounds (no rippling, echoing trebles) of Q Acoustics.

I just bought Qs for half the price I could have got the Klipsch. I would say at worse 98% the sound quality for 50% the price. They arrive on Tuesday and I can't wait. It is a no brainer.

Man... Thank you for including some tracks with vocals... You seem to really care for what viewers ask for and I really appreciate that. I personally was thinking between 3030i, RP-600M and Wharfedale Evo 4.2 for a long time. Now thanks to you, I am between RP-600M and Wharfedale Evo 4.2. These sound demos are really helpful. the 3030 sounded more muffled in vocal range. But in the end with the electronic music without vocals it were more even. Otherwise the 600m take this comparison without any problems. In my opinion.

Love the sound of the klipsch (i own a pair) but boy oh boy do the hi-hats come to the front of the mix. I was i had a one band "hi-hat" eq i could just turn down a little.

Klipsch is more detailed but brighter sounding with harsh ssss sounds on the cymbals on Track 2, in total i think that the Klipsch wins even though it has a harsh treble because the Q Acoustics sounded too smooth in comparison, doesn’t sound as open as the Klipsch, the Q Acoustics are not bad speakers they are simply warm and smooth sounding and a bit overly so in my opinion. I read that the Klipsch have recessed mids and a V shape sound signature, in this Sound Demo i can definetly hear the brightness of the Treble but the mids seem clear and not so recessed though, maybe in person you would hear it more easily i guess

Klipsch will take the enamel off of your teeth, but very useful if you've got an overly smooth amp but the 3030is will suit more people, with more recordings more of the time... especially with bright mid to low end amps. However, a pair of 3020i's or even 3010i's and a good budget sub like the Wharfedale SC150 or similar will potentially be better again, and may even work out cheaper. Those 3030i's are ridiculously deep (physically)....hard to put anywhere in a smaller room

The 600M had a massive dip between mids and treble. The drivers didn't cross over. That left a fatiguing glare and shout. I sold mine.

Klipsh are in your face live concert, Q is more laid back chill out. The vocals and dynamics on the Klipsh is amazing. After listning more further into the video i say KLIPSH, the dynamics are amazinggggggg.

I had the original 600m. HARSH, shouty And veiled in the upper mids. Returned them and waited for MII's, which are a VAST improvement.

I'm curious if the 600M would sound better with a subwoofer hooked up? Would it alleviate the lack of "body" in the midrange when the subwoofer does the heavy lifting of all the lower bass frequencies?

I haven't tried it that way so can't say really. In general, properly integrated subs do add to overall sound fullness.

i have done demo of Klipsch with and without Subwoofer, trust me hooking up with a subwoofer brings out real charm of Klipsch speakers. I think any bookshelf speaker can really shine their best when hooked up to a subwoofer... Klipsch horn tweeter makes highs really come relaxed IRL Crossover Frequency was at 85HZ if you are curious.

Which do you think would work better for a home theater? Most of the time will be movies and the rest music. Probably a 70/30 split. I have a sub. I also hate harsh highs. I prefer neutral highs and deep lows. I am leaning toward the Qs but wanted to know what you think.

For HT I would personally choose Klipsch for its effortless dynamics and scale. Qs are reserved and tame in comparison. Klipsch does have prominent highs but they are not harsh in my opinion.

Klipsch advertise their horn technology that it helps to exit sound waves not creating harsh sounds and very high frequencys in a movie. Bullets, smashing glasses. I have rp6000 and my good their titanium tweeters deliver. I had 3way B&W before, polk t10 with silk tweeters and polk signiture series center speaker and atmos. I have now all from Klipsch reference premiere series. Wouldn't change a thing. I like the way they sound. But they are directional. You kinda have to point them towards you. Once you do that they fill your head with sound

I will always choose Q Acoustics between them and almost any other speaker in this price point they sound just right with correct mids and natural high frequencies without electricity and sizzling. klipsh RP600M has fondamendal design flows bad filters and poor materials the only plus is the sensitivity could be a good match with more dull - roled off sounding amplifiers coming from the 80s or cheap turntables with basic phono stages. Q Acoustics simply make marvels for the money of course! This recording as always says nothing about them and how do they sound in real-life hearing, the real thing is very different here we can find simply inconclusive differences and do some gessing accordind to what we like or dislike and my opinion is based on true auditioning and measurements.

At least in my system, the 600M seems far superior. The 3030i shows a smaller, "compacted" sound with a drier Bass. This was the comparison that I perveived more sonic differences between the loudspeakers!

Probably not. On a good set of headphones some tonal differences can be spotted however. It's just for fun and many viewers enjoy these recordings. I did already make a full RP600M review and will soon make a thorough 3030i review where I'll try and describe its sound qualities the best I can.

Can I respectfully suggest that it is much better to describe verbally how these speakers differ in sound. For people like me looking to buy speakers and seeking reviews on speakers, the sound produced on my in-built computer speakers is not ideal. In fact I cannot hear the difference. So for me this is not really a review at all.

Get the Klipsch and the Elack B6's. The Klipsch are for when you want to rock and the Elacks are for a warmer sound. What the hell? You have speaker stands. Buy em both. I will say the Q's are very pretty...but the sound just isn't there.
