I was bit pessimistic when I got "shimano" , but is nice to play turret traverse is awesome , yes reload sucks but with right "mobility" build I had some fun , I had allredy unlocked Shimanto 11 battles 64% wr , then Takahashi 10 battles 60% wr , I like to grind that line . (BTW grind that line was so easy I literally have reset Haru line just have some grind... all because those 800% & 1600% xp bonuses are just monsters , worst xp earn in lost battle I got around 15k xp , my best result was 66k xp , and I still have like 300 +800% bonuses , so I decided to do 2 regrinds on Haru so when x2 will came I can get Colbert last TX that i dont have from armory ... WG with those bonuses messed up grind ! , and free xp are issue too 02.2018 when I started play game 07.2022 before economic rework I gor for free xp Musashi,Nelson,Alaska = 2.125.000free xp , since rework I got siteload + 2400% & 7200% free xp so I got Groningen, Ägir ,Hayate & Azuma 07.2022-01.2023 = in six months I got 5.000.000freexp from grinding ! , and now what is good free xp for ? , I have bought up 47 12500frexp budles =587.500free xp , so I will spend free xp on regrinds ? , I have only Colbert , Hector & Sigfreak left :/)

The most tragic thing is at least the Omono gets planes asw (with shitty range but still bigger than Musashi). T8/T9 don't get it so have fun getting pinged by subs all the time. And enjoy your terrible air detect that make it sure you can never escape spotting from both cancer types. If you had god tier AA maybe it would be okay but it's not that great. If I get spotted at 7km, I better have better than Halland AA

Not really, i hated the Yahagi because of its floating shells, slow turret traverse, 6 guns, limited torp angle etc but none of that passed over the light cruisers starting at tier 8, the gun are easier to use, better torp angle, more guns, more HP. The only thing the Yahagi is related to the tech tree cruisers is the slow RoF.

I had such high hopes for an IJN light cruiser line. All they had to do was follow the Kuma's design philosophy up through the tree-maneuverable, dogfighting cruisers with more moderate gunpower but good torps... which I guess would probably be quite similar to the Pan-Asian CLs, but I have no experience with those; they were added while I was taking a break form the game.

The Pan-Asian CLs are not dogfighting cruisiers with moderate gunpower and good torps. They are kiting/push-stopping machines (if someone spots for them). If you try to to dogfight in an Asian CL you will get deleted by 203 and upwards guns as soon as you appear. You need to stay hidden 100%. But I agree with you IJN CLs could have been a more torp and AA oriented style, with good hydro and def AA and medium-range but more torps. Like a Mogami with both consummables and with more torps and a smaller hull, maybe 1 or 2 less turrets in exchange for conceal and torp tubes.

We have that too… its called mogami, she has 2 gun options, 155s, and 203s But yeah, 155 mogami gets 5sec better reload, the shells do more damage, along with better rudder and turning radius The only thing shit-manto get over mogami is range, which is useless if you cant hit anything, torps, and turret traverse Its objectively worst in every meaningful way

IMO the Omono is the only kinda decent ship in the line; it can pen 32mm with IFHE and has good firing angles, while at the same time having only 6k less DPM than the Shimanto

For this line to be interesting, it's a much lower reload (8 s max), conceal at 9km, and a little more powerful he for the T8 -9-10 (or in exchange a longer range of fire ), because at these tiers, there are big guns that can destroy you at 22km.

The historic guns that arm these ships (Type 5 15 cm AA 五式十五糎高射砲, Go-shiki jyūgo-senchi Koshahō) had a reload time of 6 seconds on a land based installation. Let that sink on. Someone at Wargaming is still salty about Tsushima.

@@seraphis it is combination of three factors: -balancing by spreadshiet, the same spreadshiet that will say you and your cat have on average three legs -overriding gimmick/idea for the ship "because boss said so", it doesn't matter whether it makes sense or not, in soviet rashia you don't question the boss -"only tier 10 can be decent, rest is Free Exp bait" approach. Though I'm not sure "decent" even applies to Yoda

The T8/9 IJN CL have a lower HE DPM than Shimakaze. The process of making these ships were probably "it has good torps and 'good'* AA so everything else must be trash!" *Good for an IJN ship

Same thought but it seems like they wanted to give these light crisers dual purpose gun which the 155 mm gun is not capable of. Btw we actually have tier 7 Mogami 155, the Omono with 12x 155 mm guns but it get worse RoF, worse pen and damage, so if they give other light cruisers this gun it might get the same treatment which doesn't make it much better than the 150 mm gun.

I found it mandatory to run Acceleration and Rudder II mod on my Takahashi.. those things are terrible in terms of maneuverability on top of having basically no armor or rather " overmatch me as you like"- armor. Really not a fun line.

I guess you're yet to discover Kremlin turrets. if you want semblance of logic, IJN didn't put any meaningful plating on their cruiser turrets IRL and neither this WG imaginary line have. Worcester and Minotaur have similar or faster turret traverse, sure they are twin turrets, but also have something resembling armor put onto them, so weight probably would be similar.

I've had a fair bit of success with this cruiser line, averaging 65% ish win rate. It shines in games that feature DD's and CV's heavily. Damage output is usually rather low, but I mainly attribute that to lobbing my shells at DD's and other soft, but hard to hit, targets. So far, I've genuinely enjoyed it & Yoda is my current favorite ship to play.

Big points I've learned: Never stop moving. Circle in the back line; the turrets can keep up easy. Also enables the use of all torps tubes. The low citadel makes it hard to crit. Despite the hull being huge, it's comparatively easy to move your citadel out of the way. Bait shots as your turning to draw opponents into exposing their selves to your teammate's fire. Use IFHE. Win rate increased measurably when equipped. Torp EVERYTHING. If no target, put a spread anywhere you don't want the enemy to be. Tactically, focus on area denial. Keep key points dangerous for the enemy to approach. The threat of your damage is often enough to keep areas clear & open shots up for other players.

I'm a bit disapointed by these ships. My biggest issues being the low maneuvrability and their look (my god these turrets are ugly). But yeah I don't find them to be as bad as people say. They take effort though, and requires you to be more methodical than with some braindead meta ships. Can't bow tank, or sit in smoke and spam your machine guns. I have 62 battles in the tier 8-10 in total, with a 60% WR overall. Somehow Takahashi seems the weakest of the three, to me. I'm not sure I could say that the citadel is "low", although it does sit lower than on the Japanese CAs... Otherwise I agree with you. I build them for AA, too. (DefAA mod 1, Auxiliary Armament mod 2, and both AA capatin skills). I have many times deleted full squads in an instant. The planes enter my AA bubble, fly a little bit, and "poof" the flak erases them from existence. Very satisfying. I run double rudder mod, of course. I'll trust you for IFHE. I was tempted to remove it for better fires, as it proved the right move on Gokase, but I guess I'll keep it.

Yah, I've been playing the T5 and T6, and they're poop. The combination of squishiness, meh detection, and poor handling encourages you to play further back - but the shells are so slow in the T5 that you won't hit anything but potatoes at that distance. In the T6 they're not substantially better. The torps are powerful, obviously, but require a heavy investment of skills and modules to get both their swim speed and reload rate high enough to be anything close to consistent. Combined with the poor handling of these ships, the bad torpedo angles, and the aforementioned detection radius, it's too uncomfortable to get into a position to use them reliably. Without smoke as a disengage tool, you're just way too vulnerable compared to the pan-asian cruisers - especially considering how easy it is to dev-strike you. The 152mms are underwhelming because of the shell characteristics, but also because of the poor DPS - they feel super slow and anaemic. The ship manoeuvrability is the real killer though - if you're forced to fight a DD / Sub you're going to eat torps just because they handle like bricks (even getting the rudder shift down to like 6 seconds of Gokase doesn't help its terrible agility). If people don't spot for you - thereby letting you loiter at a distance - you're in trouble. I somewhat hoped things get better with the 155mms and increased barrel count - but I guess not.

I don't think WG is displaying accurate stats on ships. I have felt for a while now that they have been stealth nerfing ships in the background and not stating the changes. With 500 or so ships in the game I wouldn't shrug it off, the idea of them making changes under the players' nose. How could someone have the time to compare ships stats from past patches to present patches, making the theory that much more plausible. IMO

They could have moved Mogami over to the light cruiser line and replaced her with a Takao class on the heavy line but of course weegee's hatred of anything japanese could not allow them to give us such an important historic ship on the tech tree. Pay up for premiums or get shafted. I also like how they completely ignored the lower tiers again even though they had plenty of *actual* ships they could have implemented there as sidegrades to the other line, like Nagara for T4 and Sendai for T3. Maybe even Isuzu retrofit as a premium or coal ship. But I guess these useless paper ships were more important.

Just a line of worse Pan-Asian cruisers. All into torpedo damage at the cost of literally everything else while the Pan-Asians have better utility and ironically MUCH better AA. This whole line screams "Supertesting was just a formality" and they went with their headcanon of how these things will perform.

Would not go as far as saying these are worse than PA cruisers. I'm literally still stuck with the Chumpon at tier 7 becuse of its shitty firing range and shell arc, small HP pool and worse armor. It literally get citadel from a slightly touch. I have had more fun with the Omono than i ever had with the Chumpon. Played no more than 5 games and gave up on grinding that line. At least the IJN CLs have far better firing range, flatter shell arc, larger HP pool, and while the armor is not strong but they also don't get the 16-19 mm plating like majority of light cruisers, starting from tier 8 they get 25-27 mm like IJN CAs. I have yet to see a Jinan that is actually being useful in tier 10 game. The Yodo is arguably a better ship.

Take IFHE and they are the worst firestarters in the game, literally! And "Jinan is never useful" is because light cruisers are extremely out-of-meta right now. They need things to push into them or they are XP pinatas. Play aggressively and you just die. Enemy team plays passively and you have trouble contributing. Yodo just larps as something more useful with longer range even though you are basically doing nothing meaningful with that range anyways. And PS the panasians are designed to be bad until Tier9-10 as freexp bait.

How is the Takahashi worse ? You are at tier 9 which means you can get the reload upgrade and reduce the reload down to 13 second unless you pick firing range upgrade which increase the range to 19 km, the Shimanto at tier 8 is not able to buff reload nor the firing range AND it doesn't even get heal like the Takahashi.

i just take takahashi after 4 games with shimanto (mogami is way better)I believe that this line is for experienced players because its very hard to play...A low skilled player from the time he will be spotted he is dead because no armor at all...As a result to be playable and fun as a light cruiser i believe it needs 2 buffs a faster reload and of cource a very lower turning circle come on a carrier turns faster than this thing.As the role of this line i think its with a dd in front of you for spotting with the yodo torps you can deny the red team to push the flank without even hit one shell just spamming torps because they have very good alpha.I try it that way and it works

See, the reason why the IJN light cruiser line sucks ass is because the recent US hybrid battleship line is the dumbest, most broken line in recent memory. One weaksauce, one overpowered. Ying and yan. Perfectly balanced as all things should be.

As much as i like the Mogami 155 but here is the benefit you get with the 150 mm gun turret, better traverse speed at 6 seconds (Mogami has like over 30 seconds), some of the turrets can traverse in 360 degree so they are on target extremely quickly, these guns are also dual-purpose and they are really good against planes, the turret armor is also slightly thicker at 32 mm vs 25 mm so DD and light cruisers can't knock them out, the gun angle is more or less the same as Mogami because the turret layout is the same. Now the pros with the 155 mm gun turret is 5 second less reload and more alpha damage.

@@la_potat6065 I don't have atago so if you put to Mogami the 203 she has similar play style with atago! Then you just put again the 155s for high dpm! It's a fan ship, but I don't play her to often as most t8s, cause you end up with t10 and then you struggle!

@@rowinglove4ever Personally I'd just use Ibuki if I want to play some 203s, it may not be as tanky as atago's 41mm deck, but 32mm suffices and the greater range gives some breathing room and ibuki's cit is allot lower compared to something like an atago (still won't save a broadside but there's abit more overpens than an outright deletion). I tend to only play Atago after going through some games with Myoko. IJN CAs are still really fun from t5 to t8. T9-T10 gets abit iffy, but I've just learned to deal with it. Anyways I really don't know what to do with these hightier IJN CLs tho, they are heavy cruiser hulls with worst conceal and manoeuvrability than the actual CAs (from T8+) trying to act as a CL and it's just a contradictory mess. If torpedoes are their thing, I'd rather play IJN Gunboat line which are really the better IJN CLs.
