Thank you for making a succinct and to-the-point video about what I've been trying so hard to pick up on. The other 1,000 videos on this topic seem to be made by people who can't clearly communicate the concept without making it *way* more complicated and difficult than it needs to be.

This tutorial is GOLD. Plenty of clear information here, more precise than other videos that make a somewhat confused usage of the options inside IK constraint. Bravo PIXXO

If anyone's having issues keeping the shape of your mesh when moving the IK controller, don't disconnect the bones, it still works. Maybe it's because of differences between versions of blender since 2020. Thanks for the great tutorial!!

Your video makes it a lot easier to understand the "simple" mechanic behind the IK-System. the "problem solve" at min 7:30 quit my rage mode I had because of another video on youtube ... I can't figure out, why my armature was moving so horrible fast while moving the "IK-Bone" ... You saved my interest in blender

What if I want ik to be able to bend in different directions at different times.
@mr.cobalt16683 жыл бұрын
One catch I noticed is that you can move the IK bone far enough that it physically separates from the rest of the rig and takes the bones parented to it with it. Is there any sort of constraint or option that keeps this from happening? Like can it stay visually connected to the other IK bones but maintain its independent rotation etc.?
@Shka_maru2 жыл бұрын
What's the purpose/Logic of the "pole target"? I find many rigging tutorials just say add it but don't explain it :/
@plastic26662 жыл бұрын
There are multiple orientations that the faces of a mesh could be pointed while still being at the position specified by the IK control bone, adding the pole target gives the faces a target of where the faces should be orientated, giving you better control of the rotation. At least that's what I understand its benefit to be.
@helloitsokyrago2 жыл бұрын
when you want to pull an armature by moving it near to other ones but in specific way without pole target , it usually becomes crazy and bend in any direction pole target is necessary to make it bend in specific directions

I have a tangentially related question. If you don't have access to mocap equipment, what is the best workflow to get the most realistic animations possible? So far I've tried chopping up a video of someone doing the movement I want into individual pictures (a woman jogging in this case) and trying to pose the mesh alongside it frame by frame, but this is really painful. Also, using IK doesn't seem to speed up the process very much. FK seems to be just as fast, as far as I can tell, because it requires a lot of very minute, granular adjustments.
@Zeros3D3 жыл бұрын
IK is a massive timesaver for the vast majority of cases. Make sure you are placing the control bones in the right places to get the fine control. You can get the fine motion of a whole arm down to a tee with a single bone if done right, where as FK requires you to move each bone individually every keyframe. It's literally 3 times the work if you have a three bone arm to use FK...
