I love hitting short. I actually find it therapeutic and incredibly relaxing. Also love to end a grueling tennis session hitting short again. You learn so much when you slow things down.

Mini tennis is good, if it progresses from warmup to game-ifying it. Example-play mini tennis points, cross court only, no volleys allowed so you have to move foward and back. Play one direction, then switch. Then back up and play full court cross court, then full court down the line (no volleys allowed). You can also alternate hitting all forehands or all backhands, forcing runaround footwork. You can also play all volleys, short court, cross court (no smashes, obviously) You can also do this using only backhand volleys. This is great for learning how to volley shots hit into your body that favor your racquet arm side (always tough for me) You'll find your backhand volley can actually work in way more ways than you think. :-)

Great video Karla! For me when doing doubles warmup I do this: Mini tennis One side Cross courts(fh/bh) Other side Down the line(fh/bh) Creates a bowtie shape between the players. Rotate players after they do 20 hits back and forth allows every player to try every angle on the mini tennis. Thats one of my favorites! 🎾

Ooh! Bow tie is an interesting idea. I will definitely try it but I don't think it will be easy because you have to change the angle.

Hi Karla, are you the Karla who did a video with Nik from intuitive tennis about straight arm forehand? Now you play more with a bent arm.

That’s such an interesting observation! I wonder if there’s been a bit of change in my game since that past video, I have indeed been on some of Nik’s videos and every time I play with him I learn something new 😇.

Lower body: look at your feets, you dont have any tranference of weight to the front, and some times your front foot is going up, thats a big and basic mistake, if you want to push forward, always put all your weight in front when you start the contact with the ball, upper body relaxed, lower in tension, thats the key, like ying and yang. Upper: is really good, stretch your arms a little more and raise your elbows in your backhand stroke, your left elbow should reach the height of your forehead, for that you need to move them away from your body by stretching your arms and thus achieving leverage without so much effort and a more consistent swing, forehand is good, i dont know if you are right or left dominant eye, but it seems to be the right, becouse you hit better forehand with semi open stance, check it soon

What do you do when ur partner insist on hitting flat during this warm up.

I cry… 😂jk, if you can’t get a rally going, I ask them to hit it softer. Even if they are hitting flat, if they are hitting it softer it can land in a place where you can actually return it and start a rally.

I find that newbie short ballers haven't developed that skill and understanding. Work with them... be patient. Lol
