IKEA ALEX DESK DUPE DIY UNDER $90

Happy New Year Bargain Family! Today, I'll be showing you how I made my Ikea Alex Desk dupe. The drawers I used are currently sold out online but don't worry! They should have them back in stock. Don't ever pay full price for them. If they aren't on sale when you look online, just hold off to buy the drawers because they always go on sale. Don't forget to use a coupon, if you can. The Ikea Linnmon/Alex Desk retails for $207.99, mine cost $83.75 to make. Hope this is helpful.

Also fyi. A lot of people complain about the Michael's drawers because they Don't pull out all the way. I had an easy fix to this. I just drilled an extra whole in each side of the drawers so the little plastic stopper would go there and the drawers opened more. Same concept of adding another whole to a belt

The ikea ones dont pull all the way out either but you can drill another hole. You just have to be careful because then it wont be as sturdy

You can go to Home Depot and purchase furniture feet. The come in all heights, sizes and shapes. You can spray paint them to match your drawers!

Hi Mykaila! Yes, you can get furniture legs and paint them to match your drawer color. The only thing is trying to find legs that are inexpensive but sturdy cause if you spend to much on the legs, you might as well get Ikea drawers.Maybe even wooden blocks sprayed?

Some people put a piece of plexiglass over the desk top to protect it? Have you thought about that? If you do decide to do this, no one shows how they measure it or how they adhere it to the desk. If you do can show that whole process?

Hi most hardware stores (home Depot and Lowe's) will cut the plexiglass for you for free to your measurements. You just pay for the material which is pretty cheap. You can get those clear little rubber grip stickers to place under glass on desk and it won't move. You can get those at Home Depot or Lowe's too

Adijat Mustapha Hi Adijat! Great question. I probably should've cover that. I don't have a problem with the height at all but I'm 5'4 (average height). I can see the height not working for someone who's taller or if you're using a taller chair/stool.

Evelin Hernandez yes, I was thinking the same thing. Just pop some legs on it it’s too short. The desk I have now is perfect as far as height (but not great for storage or style) and it’s almost 30”. ...If you compare, this desk will be a little more than 27” with the wheels on. Edit: I went to Home Depot & got some legs. Easy to put on & made it the perfect size. (Almost 30”) I did feel like it was a little short before the legs, but it was an easy fix & the legs really make it look nice!!
