Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.

I definitely agree with you on just getting the IKEA drawers. I also have one from Michael's that I bought first and the front face drawer panel on 2 of the 5 drawers broke off! The bottom of the drawer caved in on one and the other is boeing. Imo it's definitely not worth the so called saved money. I ended up throwing it away and buying a Alex. 😑

They're both plywood. But they're different grades of plywood. Michael's is particle board - which means it is made up of grinded up wood chips that's been pressed together. It wills swell with water and fall apart much faster. Ikea is whole slaps of wood that is glued together in a cross/weaving pattern. They will last alot longer, and is alot stronger. If you're going for quality over time, go with Ikea.

Well if you put a cold cup down and it condenses. a ring of water will leave a swollen ring of wood forever. I also used one draw to hold a mini aquarium, which is how I learned the hard way that it's made of particle board. You never know what people use their furniture for. Plus what do you mean, would that even matter, don't you just want better quality furniture in general?

It's nice to see a detailed comparison. I don't live near an Ikea, so, I went with the dupes and added legs. I love my setup only because I don't have a large makeup collection. Definitely a beginners setup. In the future I'll hopefully be able to get the Alex drawers ( I refuse to pay for shipping) and just use the dupes for extra storage.

Takes a lot of patience to just glue them on and I had someone help me flip them over once they dried. I let them dry for 2-3 days. (Painted them white)
