Oh this reminds me of my mom. There wasn't anything that she couldn't make or do. She would look at something, and say oh my gosh I can do this with that. And then do it. She was so smart. Her ability of spatial visual and being able to take something that I could look at and immediately make something in her head and then bring it into fruition. What a beautiful thing. I miss her so. With that said. She's still inspires me on a daily basis. Especially whenever I want something. Remembering her helps me think outside of the box. Not all has lost when we lose someone. They live on throughout our thoughts and our actions. I love you Mom. I hope I make you proud. I always ask what would my mom do? And then I get to it. Haha 😆 Beautiful work. I ordered that jig about 7 years ago. My husband's like are you serious I said you better believe it. 🤣🙌🏼

@@NicoleHerrickDIY do you have any updates on how this holds in the rain? I'm worried it's going to rust when rain water gets inside the frame. And maybe create rust stains on the cushions.
@NicoleHerrickDIY3 жыл бұрын
@@daanxbox360 hi, no rust so far after 1 year. I did have some mould on the cushions though and found that the fabric wasn’t very waterproof. Some mould also gathered on the timber slats so I’ve sanded those back and painted with a waterproof primer. I’ve washed the covers and sprayed with a silicone water proofer then wrapped the inner cushions in plastic drop sheets to stop any water that will probably still get through. I honk next year I might remake the cushion covers in regular upholstery fabric, spray my own waterproofing on top but nothing bottom so water can escape out the bottom easily. Hope that helps!
@NicoleHerrickDIY3 жыл бұрын
@@daanxbox360 oh and also the arms are still waterproof, the coffee table needs a fresh coat of stain though. I think every 18 - 24 months the arms will need a recoat.

@NicoleHerrickDIY3 жыл бұрын
They sure do, but who said you have to use expensive power tools? A hand saw, sandpaper, handle drill, needle and cotton all don’t cost much. I don’t buy power tools as single use items, I invest in equipment that I use to save myself thousands of dollars every year. I also make money with my power tools. Also, do you include the cost of the oven in a loaf of bread?

This is a great idea! How is it holding up? My only concern is that the frame would rust / the slats may fail exposed to the elements? Looks fantastic though.
@NicoleHerrickDIY3 жыл бұрын
I need to go back and sand the slats and reseal with an outdoor sealer as they are getting a little mouldy. The frame is fine so far. I also need to spray the fabric with some waterproofing as it’s not 100% waterproof like it said. A few cans of marine waterproof spray from the auto store is what I’m going to use for the fabric. The colour still looks great through. Doesn’t look dirty at all. So glad I went with beige. And the legs and frame look great.

@NicoleHerrickDIY8 ай бұрын
Thank you. Yes we just put the decorative cushions out when we are sitting out there. The fabric I used wasn’t the best. I’m going to remake the box cushion covers with Sunbrella fabric as it’s much better rated. Stains came off fairly easily but it got brittle within 2 years and ripped everywhere.
