Ikea Hejne Assembly

Assembling another Ikea shelving unit that I purchased in 2019, a few months after moving home. I'd tried to persevere with the larger Ivar unit from my old flat but that was taking up too much room in this smaller space.
Ironically, I've moved the new Hejne unit since filming this and it stands beside my PC! All of my camping gear now rests in plastic boxes - I decided there was no point in keeping it all 'on display'.

So Hejne or Ivar, given enough space, which would you rather use for all sorts of things in archive boxes?

Ivar is definitely more of a heavy duty solution. But I did find those shelves would start to sag under load. I never tried this but fitting battens underneath each shelf may help to strengthen it. Shelfs on the Hejne units are much thinner by comparison. I hope this helps and thanks for your question.

Nice idea to mount first top and bottom shelves to obtain a "box" structure! What screwes did you use?

Nice instruction! I want to use it outside of bathroon so is it resistant to moisture? I actually wanted to buy Mulig shelf but they don't sell it anymore at least in Thailand's shop. So I'm looking at IVAR shelf now.

Thank you. I think it would be fine as long as you treat the wood with either an oil, varnish or wax. That will give it protection. Thanks for watching and good luck.

I've relaxed the idea over the last couple of years and I have a full-time job (when not in lockdown...) making furniture in a workshop which mostly fills that need. Hi! I'm going to purchase this unit and is not available for collecting at my nearest store. On the site is not giving details about the weight, you said is light, do you think it can easily be carried by hand and using public transport?

Hi, thanks for your comment. I've just had a look online. The 4 uprights together weigh 3.6kg and 4 shelves weight about 6kg. I imagine it can be carried. Obviously, the uprights are quite long. But I hope this helps. The shelves could fit in to an Ikea bag. Thanks also for watching.

Hi, it's a Metabo 10.8v. I forget the model number. I bought it as a 'naked' tool to use with my existing 10.8v batteries. I hope that helps. It was a handy little tool.
