For some reason lock went on and I couldn't figure out how to remove. Your beautiful description was just what I needed, magic , everything works great. This is the only cooking tool I use and for more than 2 years. Very efficient, uses far less electricity and turns off when sensing dry pan which is a blessing for me when I get distracted from cooking. Will never go back to traditional cooking method. You will not be sorry and IKEA honors return policy!!...if you need it.

Hi @Kimber Luna, thanks for your appreciation. Glad that you found the video helpful. Yes indeed, induction cooking is not only environmentally friendly but also a safe and faster means of cooking. Sorry about your injury. You will never face such a situation while using an induction. I've been using induction for 11 years now( 8 years of my earlier one, Prestige brand and the Tillreda model for the last 3 years). I do most of my cooking in induction. I have reduced cooking on gas considerably, due to the convenience, speed and safety and I also enjoy the mess free cooking with not much to clean unlike gas Good luck with your induction cooking. Thanks for subscribing.

Thanks for your appreciation. IKEA Tillreda is a basic induction as compared to many of our Indian brands which have pre-set menu options. But, it is sad that the IKEA induction sold here in India which earlier had both cook(power) and fry(temperature) options, now has only the cook option, reasons known only to them for having removed the fry option. Just check whether the induction has both the options before you buy.

Thank you for this thorough review. I am considering buying this one for my first induction hob and am of course curious about the differences. I love the size of the item and the ability to put it away when Im not using it, since I live in an RV with limited space. I have the included propane burners and dont love how they heat the entire house in the hot summers. I will follow and check out your website, hoping to find some recipes! Best Wishes from Texas USA

Thanks Susan for liking the review of the induction hob. You're right, I too bought the hob impressed by the idea of hanging it when not in use, thus saving my work space on the kitchen counter top. Glad that you would be watching my recipes. Actually I am more into kitchen appliances demo & review, and I've just started posting cookery videos, some Microwave recipes and a few on cooking on induction. I'll be slowly and steadily increasing the number of videos and plan to post cookery videos on a regular basis on my KZbin channel. Stay tuned. Thanks once again.

@BhuvanaAdi
@BhuvanaAdi 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Binny Boy for the appreciation. Although the hob top is made of tempered glass which is generally scratch proof, some minimum amount of scratches could start showing up but over a long period of usage of some years. I have another Indian Prestige make induction hob which I have been using for more than 8 years now, it hardly has any scratches. If the bottom of the utensil you are placing has any food or particles sticking on it, you could clean the same before placing on the hob. Also you can wipe the hob surface with a clean cloth after every use. This way you can minimise chances of scratches. Thanks.

Thanks for your video. @8:00 (cookware base diameter), how did you get your infos (ikea doesn't seems to put it in their infos pdf) ? whats your thoughts on using a pan of 26 cm on this ? thanks !
@BhuvanaAdi
@BhuvanaAdi 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Christian, thanks for your comment and query. IKEA has mentioned the minimum and maximum cooking zone in the manual and that's where I took it from. If you have the pdf with you, just check page 10 below the diagram under item 1 (heating area) they have given cooking zone as 185 mm (which I presume refers to the maximum) and on page 12 under helpful hints and tips they have given minimum cooking zone as 120 mm in the table. Hope this helps. Well you can use a 26 cm pan on this, but the induction coil will heat only 18.5 cm the area outside this will get heated by conduction within the metal. Or you have to keep sliding the pan to bring the outer edges within the cooking zone, which I think is not very comfortable. By the way, I have recently bought a Meyer cast iron pan 28 cm dia and I plan to use it on this induction and share my video, demo and thoughts very soon. Please look out for the same in my channel. Thanks.

@@BhuvanaAdi Great thanks for your answer ! But i think we don't have the same pdf, or maybe it's a new pdf that they give now (2020: www.ikea.com/ca/en/manuals/tillreda-portable-induction-hob__AA-1856031-2.pdf) (p.12, they now indicate 175mm cooking zone). But it's good to know that your are still using a large pan on that. My goal is to can Masson jar, the "presto" is 26 cm. So as long that the water is boiling it's fine, my guess is that even if the cooking area is 175mm, the water will boil anyway.
@BhuvanaAdi
@BhuvanaAdi 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing that. Yes there appears to be a slight difference in the maximum cooking zone in the IKEA India and Canada manuals, which is a bit surprising. Your link did not open so I went to Ikea Canada page and checked out the Tillreda pdf. Like you have mentioned, I think even with 175 mm cooking area, the water should boil. Good luck and cheers!

can u deep fry on this thing. Like chicken fry and if we do fry on high temperature does it remain constant or does it shut off. Does it give constant heat or it shuts off and then turns back on? can u use aluminium pots on this or cast iron ?
@BhuvanaAdi
@BhuvanaAdi 5 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you for a very good question. Yes you can deep fry on this induction hob. As far as I know, it maintains constant temperature by shutting on and off. I'll confirm the same in a day or two. As such Aluminium cannot be directly used on induction cooktop, but if it's made induction friendly it can be used. Cast iron with a flat base can be safely used.

@@BhuvanaAdi i don't understand what u saying it maintains constant temp by shutting on and off i mean to ask does it turn off if it gets too hot or it has a constant temperature?
@BhuvanaAdi
@BhuvanaAdi 5 жыл бұрын
Hi, let me explain this. The induction does not turn off, but the heating turns on and off to maintain the temperature. Something similar to what happens in an iron box. Although I'm not a technical person, I feel this is the way it works, at lower temperatures while frying and lower power while heating/cooking, when I can hear the heating go on and off. The same happens even in a microwave oven. Actually when you select a power (100%,80%,60%) it is actually always in full power, but operates on full power for sometime and then cuts off/goes off for a while depending on the power chosen. Hope I've been able to explain clearly and you have understood what I wanted to tell. Thank you

Thanks for the review. Maybe it's too late to ask, but I'm a little concerned about those holes on the side. It looks like if you spill something it will get inside and make a mess. And I do spill boiling water every now and then. Should I avoid this model because of that?
@BhuvanaAdi
@BhuvanaAdi 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Nekitamo, that's a great query. Even I end up spilling milk/tea on the induction when the boil over. I just make sure to wipe the top quickly and in case something spills over on the sides, wipe that too. After your query, I just looked through the side ventilation hole and I spotted a small wall like barrier on the inside floor a little after the opening. I think this is to ensure that any spillover through the opening does not get inside till the induction coil or circuit. So my thoughts are that this need not be a point to avoid buying this. Of course finally the decision is yours. Hope this helps. Thanks.

Hi Hema, it's just like we do on gas. We have to take care and set power and time such that it switches off before boiling over. This can be learnt only by trial and error. If the induction is ON beyond the boiling time, milk will spill over. At 1000W power it takes 7 minutes to boil a litre of milk. Of course the time depends on the temperature of milk.

Hi John, when you switch on the induction either without a cookware or with an improper cookware(non-induction friendly), then the error E1 appears on the display and the hob switches off after 10-15 seconds. So, just make sure to always switch on the hob, only after placing a cookware on the cooking zone. Hope this helps. Thanks.

Hi Vaughn, I do not understand what you mean by semi induction. These are called as induction cooktops only. Regarding heating, yes, the surface does not get heated at all. Yes, in this, only the cookware gets heated by induction. If there is no cookware placed, the cooktop does not get heated at all and in fact switches off. Any residual heat you find on the cooktop after use is due to the contact of the heated cookware. Hope this clarifies. Thanks for watching!

Hi Ulises, sorry for the delayed reply. I think you must be aware that the induction hobs are made for 110V or 220V to suit the stock voltage supply in the country. USA and a few countries have 110V supply. In India we have 220V supply so all our appliances run on 220V. Since I have not used a 110V appliance till now, I cannot comment on your query. I went through some online forums on induction hobs of 110V vs 220V to get a better insight into this and I observed that people have generally mentioned a few points, which I would like to share below - The principle of working is the same for both voltages. 220V is more powerful than 110V induction. This means it has more heating power hence can handle higher cooking/heating quantities. But both are adequate when it comes to normal usage. In induction we normally never use it at the top rated power (be it 2000W or 1800W). I have a Prestige cooktop and IKEA Tillreda. Both have 2000W top power. Most of my usage is in the range of 1100W/900W. So I am not able to clarify your query about the perceived difference between 2000W and 1800W. Hope this answer helps. Thank you!

@@BhuvanaAdi thanks for replying so quickly and also for clarifying some technicals differences between the 110v and 200v models! I would also like to know if you know if the cofee makers (induction compatibles), that have a 4" to 5" can be safety use if the diameter of the induction is larger: 8" to 11"...? I am asking, because I have noticed that some manufacturer of these induction cooktops, always recommend to use induction cookware that have the same (big diameter) as the circle on the top of the induction cooktop and not smaller, bacause they said that could damage this induction units. Could you also recommend me a good quality stainless-steel coffee maker (induction compatible), which can be bought online from amazon.com USA? Thanks again for all your help!

Is it suitable for process coconut oil?
@BhuvanaAdi
@BhuvanaAdi 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Myra, the induction cooktop can be used just like a gas hob, with the restriction of the type and size of containers to be used on them. If you meant whether making coconut oil on this hob is possible, I think the part of extracting oil from the coconut milk which involves heating and boiling, can very well be done on this. Remember, you can heat, boil, fry, cook, sautē and steam any food on this induction hob. Hope my answer was helpful.

Prestige pic 3.1 vs ikea? Which is better?
@BhuvanaAdi
@BhuvanaAdi 3 жыл бұрын
Hi All Indian models like Prestige, Philips, Pigeon have auto cook and ready menu options in induction. Like, steam, milk boil, cooker whistle count, dosa, chapati, etc. Not sure how useful these are. I am used to using the induction using my own power and time settings. In Prestige, we can change time even when induction is running. In IKEA this option is not there. IKEA does not have ready menu options, just heat option and fry option. Not sure whether Prestige has child lock, IKEA has child lock. I also feel that IKEA looks better with rounded edges and black and white finish. But this is my personal opinion and is not a parameter of performance. IKEA can be hung on the wall to clear up the kitchen tabletop. Prestige does not have that. Another difference is IKEA is priced more, nearly ₹4000, Prestige 3.1 is priced much less. Finally it is one's own choice and preference. Thanks.

Oh didn't I, thought I had shown it being hung on the wall. Sorry Joe, may be got left out. Good observation and thanks for pointing out. The next time I show some cooking on this hob, I'll definitely remember to show it being hung on the wall. Yes, it's the best feature of this induction cooktop which made me buy this.

Hi Ida, I very well understand your irritation. They must have kept it as a safety feature because accidentally the hob should not switch ON. Sadly, this is one thing you've to get used to. I'm sure you'll very soon.👍 I've got quite used to it now, so I'm able to manage. Otherwise this hob is working very well till date. The only minus point is that, though the power can be adjusted anytime, the time cannot be (increased/decreased). You've to cancel and set the time once again. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
