Ikea room divider & vanity | How to style open shelves

There are so many other spaces that need our attention right now, so we've hit a pause on bedroom upgrades. BUT we still can attempt to make it a little bit cozier just with some tidying and decorating! In this video I'll show you the "steps" I take to style open shelves and also create a cozy room divider.

Haven't finished watching but I wanted to say something for organizing things with special meaning and memories attached. Everyone is different but my two cents I like for me. Making an extra category for things like this that we often don't use/wear anymore but love is a great way to keep it. For me it's the same as a movie ticket from a first date. So either having a cute and special box to put those things in and/or some sort of display so it becomes decoration sort of is great i think. Not keeping everything is important too. But if you are a sentimental person don't feel like you have to get rid of special things. Sort through it and only keep what's really dear to you. That's my motto which I don't always follow because that's the way it is haha.

Love this! I remember hearing from another creator that you don't need to enjoy the minimalist aesthetic to live a minimalist lifestyle. It's just about making sure everything you own serves a purpose. So finding a way to display sentimental items makes them more worth hanging onto because it gives them the "purpose" of making you happy, rather than sitting forgotten in a drawer until the next time you try to declutter.

I really liked this! It was almost like a tutorial and so interesting to learn how you think about dressing up the space :) I always have issues with too many things because my house is so small and for me if I put something in the closet I will forget it exists so I need the visual reminders.

I really love your videos! If you ever want to bring live plants back into your bedroom space, you could try out some strip plant lights with adhesive that you could attach to the bottom of a shelf (and then hide the cables with cable channels, of course hehe). I've done that myself and it was really easy and relatively inexpensive. Anyways, thanks for your videos, they brighten my day and inspire me :)

Please do not store vinyls on top of each other, than can damage them! It is best to store them standing up, leaning against each other

Love everything you did and great tips there! I specially liked when you wanted to balance the colours and did it by stepping back and finding which colours pop. Australian rental units are very conservative and do not like repainting or installing what not so watching your videos help satisfy my urge to do changes even I don’t get to do it in my own place 😂

omgg so glad that you did this video because I was planning on using this as a divider in my living room too but am unsure of how to style it etc and I can not see that it looks amazing!! was thinking to get the drawers too but the hole at the front is a little ugly and I was thinking to see if it is anyway possible to put a knob in the hole instead? do you think that's possible? thanks!!!

It would be possible but in a "hacky" way. You'd have to first screw some plywood at the back of that hole, then screw a knob that's big enough to cover the hole. Don't know if it'll be worth it 😅

It's been up for 6 months and really stable. You have to ensure that it is level when assembling it and to make it just tight enough

It's a DIY :) You can bend old vinyls by soaking them in warm water
