Today we ventured to Ikea for to buy a high chair for Sunny. I always tell people to avoid Ikea on the weekends, but I broke my own rule!
On the way to the Marketplace, we found a 570 SQ FT tiny home model space, set up for a family of 4!!!!
Take a tour with us to see some of the space saving tips!

I was thinking the same thing. I am going to have to watch the video again to see the house, I got caught up watching the baby. She was taking everything so seriously as if mom was showing her how to manage the nuclear reactors to save the world. I would love to know what was going through her head, she was sooo serious

This is the average size of a Swedish apartment, so I wonder if that's why your IKEA store went with this size. not doable for a married couple with children. I can tell you it is common for kids to climb into parents’ bed while one is working at the desk. Sometimes it is optimal to keep them all in 1 room if the other parent is out and one needs work done, especially when the living room is not suitable for writing,/using laptop, etc. just uncomfortable to setup in living room.

Open shelves, hooks, and rods adds clutter. That’s why modern homes have closets to hide your stuff. Stuff everywhere is not organization. Those storage curtains are never closed.
@leighsutherland6222
@leighsutherland6222 4 жыл бұрын
I agree about the cluttered look. However, it is very popular. What is organized to someone may not be to your taste, but it does not mean it is not organized. I do not understand your comment about closets. Most modern styles use open shelving and storage hooks! Closets are not modern. Walk in closets are more common than in the past, but certainly closets have been around for ages.
@finned958
@finned958 4 жыл бұрын
Leigh Sutherland In reference to closets, Ikea was showing a storage area with curtains. This may happen if you have a loft apartment, which Ikea seems to suggest what it’s furniture is designed for. Most homes have closets with doors to hide your stuff. Yes, closet organizers have open shelving and hooks, but you close the door and no one sees your stuff. It’s better to have a built in closet with doors. Even better to have a walk-in closet.

the obvious thing is not to put anything up there that you frequently use. also being "elderly and handicapped" is a real stupid reason to comment about. you are in the minority, you want them to cater everything to you, and those in your similar situation and waste the space for the majority? they also are not forcing you to buy it all and copy it exactly. and to be honest, physical books are a collecting thing now. there is no reason otherwise, they are more expensive, consume space, and can be lost and damaged. the only reason to have a physical book is to collect and display them.

Tasneem Shams SPACE is what’s not there. Most of us have more stuff than will fit. I’m in my seventies and don’t want to open an uncomfortable sofa bed and put sheets and blankets on it every evening. My books, camping gear, and filing cabinets would fill the whole thing without any furniture. Fine for someone who likes this, but most won’t, so her repeatedly saying “This is all you need” is absurd.

we recently down sized by over 900 sq we went from 2400 to 1500. So freeing to lose all the hassle of caring for so much stuff and space. We did how ever do a kitchen remo and used space in the kitchen literally left empty of cabinets or any other storage by the previous owner. I chose not to have a dishwasher. We are empty nested and I wanted the storage more so than the washer, that would take several days to fill before I could justify using it. It also eliminates us ever having to spend the money to replace it. I guess my point is, you're never too old to make a life change, have less baggage in your life, simplify your lifestyle and realize that less can mean more =)

Am i the only one that is watching this vid because of that adorable precious baby on her hips? She is going on about the house but the real gem is her baby. I miss my babies who are all grown, looking forward to grandkids:)

This lady and her husband (and their house) were featured on Living Big in a Tiny House - a you tube channel about small houses. And yes, their baby is adorable!!

I’m amazed that the baby did not squirm or make a peep. IKEA should be paying you!

it feels like they can use a lot of vertical space because there are no windows and no doors in the showunit. A little bit more difficult to execute when you have to consider windows and doors..
