It doesn’t have to be a dream just go and do it! It’s not like it’s a million dollars. This whole thing is under 50k which is the minimum for a morgage. So let’s say it’s 50k to the bank and take out a 30 year note. That’s 250 a month. Most people have home and cellular internet so get rid of the home internet will save a 100 or more, cut out the expensive coffee pick up that’s at least 4 dollars so weekly that cost is 20 based on a 5 day work week that comes to 1040 for the year divided by 12 equals a savings of 87 dollars if you quit buying coffee on the road but if you “need” coffee or whatever then make it at home and then a cup is like quarter so let’s say you save 70 a month. That’s a total of 170 saved. Cut off your subscriptions so that’s at least 50 saved a month so 220. Adjust the thermostat can save 50 or more a month so now 270 saved and that’s your morgage with little to no effort on your part plus you could air bnb it if you kept it as a 2nd and that’s at least 150 to 200 a night and so you could get 1k a month in rent for only a hand full of days so that way you wouldn’t even need to cut out the first stuff and you would be making like 500 a month from just that. Point is that’s not a hard dream to achieve so go and do it and be happy!

@@waynewayne9693 Where did it say it was only 50k?
@MAJ0ROCEL0T Жыл бұрын
@@waynewayne9693 You're WAY off base on this estimate. Not including buying land, clearing the land, running electric to this thing, the raw materials for this probably cost closer to 100k than 50k. That on demand water heater and filtration system probably cost your estimate alone. Not including location and land this probably cost about 150k-200k depending on cost of lumbar and transportation of materials. This would be the same cost as a similar sized home in a suburb but with 10x the commute. You can't just build this and think you'll be okay. Also banks are not nearly as comfortable handing out loans to build a new house as they are to buy an existing one. It is VERY easy to come in over budget and have major setbacks with building vs purchasing a house that has already passed inspection

This is a cute little house. Congratulations. Here in Western Europe, however, you probably won't get permission to put up a weekend house like that in the forest. Canada is certainly more generous.

This so crazy. I've had an image in my head of my ideal cabin and this is the closest I've ever gotten. Can even overlook the living room. The only thing that's missing from my image is upstairs half-bath. And wood burning stove downstairs. aside from those, this is perfect..

Mini splits suck but if your house design doesn’t account for ductwork they make things very aesthetically pleasing
@InfernosReaper5 ай бұрын
@@SonOvaSon Is there some functional reason why they suck? I am genuinely curious
@SonOvaSon5 ай бұрын
@@InfernosReaper I’m speaking from experience from when I was a service technician, mini splits made up about 10% of the units we serviced but were more than half of compressor changes and they were the nice carrier units too. The air handlers are usually really cheap too but I think the quality varies. Maybe my experience is limited since they usually went to a server room so the load could’ve been greater than a regular house . They just dont work as well as they should in my opinion
@InfernosReaper5 ай бұрын
@@SonOvaSon Ah, I see... As a field service tech for computers, I can attest to the climate control demands of servers. Its kinda sounds like whoever was running them tried to cheap out with just a minisplit instead of running a full-sized unit on them like a server room needs, especially if they're running older computer hardware since that tends to run a lot hotter.

Wow, I finally found it. If I could have that cabin in a village or a small neighborhood and the nearest Sam's, Walmart and gas station was under 20 minutes away, get it hooked up to sewage and natural gas, wired with internet...that would be my new home. The only thing I would add is a garage or a carport and a paved area for my car so I don't walk in the mud. After that...I guess replace the "lawn" with gravel or more pavement.

We have about the same size, but got so much additional loft space (enough for a working office/library). We're on almost 60 acres with a beautiful stream in one of the most gorgeous spots in NY state (Schoharie county). It's just heaven. I'll have to do a walkabout like this. Loved your on demand water system. We used an incinerating toilet making a septic system uneccessary.

Love the look/ construction - lots of character. The only thing I don't like is the washer/dryer being so visible in the living room - a panel with magnets would solve that. And as other have mentioned, a wood stove for some additional character would be amazing, but a nice to have more than a must have. Definitely saving this for inspiration, thanks for sharing!

Very nice. The only changes I'd consider would be to make the deck/patio a little smaller so the living room could be a little larger & have built-in closet in the master bedroom. Really like the steel roof. I'm guessing the snow slides right off most times. Wish steel roofs were more popular here in the Midwest. Because so few people go with steel, the price is absolutely outrageous. 30 year shingles never seem to last 30 years. One question: How much did it cost ?
@jeromyt6873 Жыл бұрын
The outdoor space is cheap compared to indoor space. There's not a big need to sacrifice it in lieu of the other. You can make the living room bigger and still have a big outdoor space. You want that on smaller houses.

I love the upstairs bedroom, the kitchen, and the materials the cabin is made from. But man, I can't imagine having the money to build something like this and sticking the bathroom right next to the fridge and the washer and dryer out in the open. I think with a little more attention to details like that, you'd have a perfect cabin.
@kayfabe591 Жыл бұрын
It's almost perfect 😁. I suggest adding two cabinet doors to conceal the washer & dryer. Use 180° hinges to fold the doors against the enclosure's side panels when w/d are in use. Plus, install a closet over the w/d. It could span from the top of the w/d enclosure up to the ceiling with a clothes rod, or have a few shelves. Another option, is to leave countertop space for folding laundry, and to hang an upper cabinet that matches those in the kitchen. That "folding area" might serve other purposes at times -- as in, a breakfast bar or desk with a pop-up or slide out extension. Stash a few stacking metal stools in the TV area, to be used inside and outside.
