Chris Weinke is pronounced like Twinkie. Its helpful to remember he played like a Twinkie. He managed to stay on the team for a few years despite only winning two career starts. Weinke the Twinkie fun facts! He was originally planning to play major league baseball and spent 6 years in the Toronto Blue Jays minor league system before finally going to college. He is the oldest person to ever win the Heisman trophy at the ripe old age of 28, which will probably never be broken. (The current youngest is Lemar Jackson at 19 and change.) He was drafted in the 4th round by the Panthers in the 2001 draft which is low for a Heisman winning Qb but really high for a 28 year old rookie when a lot of Qbs (and players in general) are out drafted and out of the league by 28. He trained with Panthers number 1 pick Cam Newton during the 2011 lockout because technically Newton couldn't do anything with the team so Weinke did his Panthers family a solid by training with him. And as of time of writing he is the Qb coach for Georgia Tech since 2022. I hope you enjoyed my Weinke rant and if not, eat a Twinkie.

At least the Buccaneers had an excuse for being terrible. They were a first year expansion team. And expansion football back then was very different. They had to play with players that no one else wanted, often aging veterans way past their prime. The Lions, Oilers, Saints and others had been in the league for many years. They had no excuse. They had to own up to being bad because of bad ownership, bad coaches, bad players, and in some cases, bad fanbases.
