Glad to see I am not the only person on the planet that had a negative experience with IL Makiage woke up like this foundation, being from Canada I paid almost $90 including shipping and I followed the prep instructions to the letter and it looked awful on my skin. I tired it for 7 days straight working with it all different ways primers and tools and it still looked crusty and dull. I don't understand how it has so many good reviews... thank you for your review it is exactly what happened to me! ❤😊

I've been using woke up like this for years. I love it because I simply hate foundation as a whole. This is like not wearing any but having this coverage. Honestly I feel like your application technique with it could be different. Overall it's an excellent product for those who don't really enjoy foundation.

I use the il makiage woke up like this. I am mid 60 and have nrkmal to dry-ish skin. I don’t always use moisturizer. I find it a little to moist for my skin. Lasts all day and doesn’t fall apart. But it’s almost too moist-it leaves residue on my phone and glasses. MI switched to Laura Geller baked foundation. It’s more matte, doesn’t rub off, but still feels soft and moist on my skin. It really blends well and color corrects my skin tone without feeling heavy. And still buildable!

I bought the Woke Up like this foundation and the color match was fairly close. I use moisturizer and then NYX marshmallow primer with it and it blends well with a brush.

Wow! I can't believe how poorly BOTH foundations did. And you have GREAT SKIN!! They couldn't have found a better canvas for their products. This is the first time I remember seeing the issues without you having to point them out. The old one was breaking up before you even had the new one on! That's ridiculous for a $45 foundation. It's not the most expensive, but there are others at similar price points (Estee Lauder, Bare Minerals, et al) they are far and away much, much better.

Thank you so much for doing this review. I've been bombarded with adds for IL Makiage and the girls in the videos are just raving at how amazing it is. I was thinking that the foundation can't be that great. I actually thought about saving the money (I don't make a lot) to get this foundation but I have very textured skin (skin growths and flat "beauty marks" on the sides of my face and neck) with large pours. Not to mention my forehead is oily and the rest of my face is very dry. I have yet to find a foundation that doesn't accentuate my rough skin so I haven't used any in years. I'm glad I watched this video before spending food money lol

OMG! Thank you for saving money for me 🙏 A few weeks ago I was yet again tempted to buy this foundation because of the countless Facebook advertising. And then I remembered that you made a review a long ago, I just wasn't able to find the video again. BUT! I'm 44 and this is the only foundation that has ever worked for my aging acne skin. It has great coverage yet feels light on my skin. It isn't oily at all. One tube of after party lasts me all year.

You helped me so much with this review, truly. Based on your recommendations I already have the foundations to give me a soft matte/satin finish. No need to go out and get Il Makiage, too. Even though I have dry combination skin, I love the Maybelline Matte and Poreless as well as Loreal’s 24hr Infallible.

I also am not sure what you are referring to because the shade matches. You perfectly even gives you a little bit of color and a second side actually looks the best and more covered up. I do not see any dryness at all. I seem to love it and haven’t tried it, but I love the way it went on your face.

I actually have after party. I ended up giving it a try because I have such weird skin texture and color that finding a foundation that doesn’t look awful is difficult. The first round of foundation I got was slightly too dark. In before my next order shipped and changed the shade. It asks if the shade is too light or too dark. Then it asks if it is slightly too light or dark or majorly too light or dark and you can adjust.

I ordered it and sent it right back after trying it. 1. The color was wrong, had a yellow tone. 2. Went on thick and actually emphasized any bumps or unevenness on my skin. No bueno. I got the "newer" one that came in the tube. Didn't want to have a second try. The ads made it seem as though everything on your skin would disappear, when it actually makes them look worse. I don't normally wear foundation so I was looking for something that looked natural

I stupidly bought 'woke up like this' after seeing all the good reviews, the shade tbh was great for me, BUT i definitely wouldnt say its a build able medium coverage as they advertise, id say its light coverage at best, i had to apply 10 pumps just to cover (not even fully either) my acne on my cheeks and it was very cakey and very textured especially over my acne and peach fuzz, im totally gutted

Before applying any foundation I usually wet my brush a little bit and moisturize my face or add primer. (Not saying she didn’t add primer) but if not, It helps if your skin if its super dry and you’re putting on makeup. Just a suggestion

I bought this brand of foundation when it first came out. I had to send it back twice bc the color match was not correct. I wasn’t super happy with the second color-match, but it was “close enough” when I used a powder to set it. It always felt like it was so thick on my face, and didn’t wear well throughout the day. Even after trying it with different primers & different moisturizers, I was never truly happy with it. I still use it at times, but I do mix it with other foundations in order to get the wear & coverage I want. 😊

I tried Il Makiage about 2 months ago. After doing the color match quiz they still sent the wrong shade for me…way too dark. It seemed very dry, cracked and creased, oh my gosh…maybe the worst foundation I have ever tried. I’m sure it’s fine for some, but my 55 year old face is not one of them 😬 I just wanted to add that I was so excited to try this and so bummed out that it didn’t work out for me.

Wish I had seen this review. I bought it and I found the very same issue with the Woke Up Like This foundation. It got very patchy quickly, felt oily and coverage was very poor. Need to use alot to get the same kinda coverage as Estee Lauder Double Wear and it's the same price here in the UK. Their customer service is great though. I'm sending it back and they have advised me that i will get money back and a voucher to use and it's free returns.

When did makeup get so complicated? I havent worn it for a few years,but these ads keep popping up on my FB feed. I always check “independent” reviews,but I’m so wary-everyone’s skin is different and what works for someone else might not work for me. I think I’m gonna check in at Sephora or Ulta and try what they suggest.

I've been using L'Oréal Infallible 24HR Fresh Wear Foundation In A Powder for a couple of years now. Saw the advertisement for Woke Up Like This and decided to give it a try despite the price. I have to say I wasn't impressed! It does get cakey in some areas even after an hour of wear. Will try applying it differently to see if I get different results. I'm still going to wear it for another week, but I do see myself returning it.

I think they definitely have a good idea about matching the color and I think that's where a lot of people love it is because the color match is pretty good but I haven't really heard anyone say that the makeup itself actually wears that well

I think it really just depends on the person and their skin type. Everyone is different 🤷‍♀️. I very rarely wear makeup but I love my Il Makiage. It makes me want to try to wear makeup more. I have the I Woke Up Like This and for ME it works wonderfully. Maybe there’s a reason they give you 14 DAYS to try it and if ot doesn’t work for you you get a refund. A refund is not promised with any of the foundations you mentioned.

You're right, depends on the person. I just got Il Makiage and it's the worst foundation I've ever tried. It highlights all my pores even with the primer. For ME It's worse than any drug store foundation I've ever tried. Thankful for the refund after trying it for 13 DAYS.

I was happy with the shade match for the Woke up Like This- but it makes my skin sooooo dry and I'm already severely dry. Using a ton of face oil and primer seemed to help... Wasn't happy for the money. I like Maybelline Fit Me Dewey finish... Better coverage for cheaper.

I actually liked the “woke up like this” foundation okay. First one I bought wasn’t a match and they sent me a different shade for free and I didn’t have to return the other one. The problem is that it makes me break out. So I only use it when I have nothing else 😅 I also did not care for the cap. It doesn’t feel secure.

As crazy as this sounds, try the woke up like this foundation with a big powder brush instead of a foundation brush. It’s a very nice application of it without being heavy

Answering a few questions does not guarantee your perfect shade! When i got my imperfect shade ,I was told to answer a few more questions, followed by the option to swap my initial coverage foundation with after party I thought why not maybe the colour may be lighter and a better coverage 2 weeks after my initial order I get a replacement which is still not my match When I return to customer service I am told they cannot help me further, my answers to their quiz was why I got the shade that I received( blaming the customers for their unproved system of getting your best match) and I used a discount code . Nonetheless I paid near £30 of my hard earned money for nothing I get some fortunate and this works But it’s not on and it is unfortunate they cannot help me and the replacement was one time offer Which I must add was not the correct shade

The new version definitely looks better, but still not worth the money (the old version was a big YIKES after wearing down). SO many drugstore foundations outperform it by far, and it's only really necessary to spend more if you can't find your shade or you have an allergy or want a clean option.

I bought Il Makiage. Sadly, it doesn't really work for me. No matter how I apply it, sponge tapping, brush swiping/tapping, it covers the same way and that's cakey, and patchy. If I swipe at all, all of the foundation goes with it. I honestly think its biggest issue is that it's drying too quickly as I'm applying it, causing it to bunch up and get sandy or flakey as I'm trying to blend it a little better around my hairline. I've tried two different shades of "Woke up like this" and while the shade does match me 100%, the foundation itself isn't great for me.
