This is a very fresh and satisfyingly rich piece of quartet writing given Pizzetti's relatively apparent but convivial vocabulary. His infuences seem to be more the kind to deepen a certain artistic substance rather than hint at a thinness or cover for lack of something to say. His second quartet--written much later--is all that is wonderful about this one but even more--a true masterpiece of Romantic quartet writing. Discovering these two together feels much like getting that crucial disc back in my younger days of Janacek's string quartets--how clearly they were more than a good listen, or agreeabel as a substitute for something more familiar once in awhile--but music very personal and important to my soul.

Thank you! Pizzetti was a bottomless mine of ideas and development.

My only "complaint" (and I may just be internet illiterate here) is that there doesn't seem to be a credit for whatever ensemble it is that delivers this music with such convincing passion and precision that I want it for myself. Who is playing this?

It's Lajtha Quartet, there's a link in description, and when the description is open the tracks are listed below. :)

I think Lajtha Quartet plays very well this piece. It isn't simple. I feel passion and precision
