Gen4 is different because the elite 4 has the same theme in main games so they gave that theme to elite 4 and made a new similar one to gen4 leaders.

Yeah the elite 4 theme was basically the same as the gym leader but if you listen hard enough you can hear differences especially with BDSP. If you want to look up the gym leader theme and elite 4 theme played at the same time and you can very clearly hear the difference

I still remember when I first played this game. The first theme that really made me fall in love with Masters music was the Unova Gym Leader theme. I remembered how much I freaked out listening to the Gym Leader's last Pokemon theme lol.

Most of these are super-early Masters content! Apart from the Galar gym theme, they were all in the game from launch (or very close to it). Early Masters arrangements were way more different from the originals than they are these days, for better or worse. I love how they still have the "feel" of the originals while using totally different melodies and sequences. The Sinnoh Gym theme is probably so different because the Elite Four theme is relatively close to the original. They probably wanted to differentiate them more firmly than "it's in a different key i guess" Unova's theme uses the Low Health theme (about 43 seconds in, listen for the synth runs in the back!) and the Leader's Last Pokémon theme (about 59 seconds in) and for that it's easily my favorite. It basically tells a whole story! So does the Galar theme to a lesser extent, with the way it shifts between the different phases. Also Kalos is a flat improvement over the original

For the sinnoh gym leader theme, the elite 4 variant sounds more like the original version then this one here. I don't know why they changed it so drastically though.

I fully believed you would put Kalos in S. It's my S among these, I'm personally not a huge fan of the Galar theme as it's a bit too similar to the originals. I like it when Masters takes a spin with the music, hence why I'd put Kalos in S. Piers might also be S because man his theme is amazing

Looking through the comments and listening to the video, I think I'm a minority in this, but... I actually really prefer Haruki Yamada's earlier style of writing new compositions that aim to match the feel of previous games' music, rather than being outright remixes of them. The remixes are definitely good, to be clear! I just like hearing new music more, and seeing/hearing just those little touches of familiarity in them. Granted, I've *never* really been big on remixes, so that might be part of it. The entirely original compositions in this game, especially the earlier ones, tend to be my favorite, too. The standard story scene tracks are so lovely. Island Mysteries... A Somber Moment... Out for a Stroll... Fun with Friends... all right up my alley. Also all the completely new battle tracks.

@@IlexEmily The way I see it, you could do it like this: Since some categories have their As being very close of being the best one for said category, you only listen to the S and A tiers, and the new one to see if you have changed your mind a bit since the original video for the category. It gives the chance for the As to shine, and you can still put the new one where you want, so that way you have a long enough video for each category. Or you could wait until a bunch of categories need to be updated , and you do them all in one vid, by only listening to the new tracks, that's another idea.

@@clemente3966 I was initially thinking of the 2nd idea when I asked this question. If she does it monthly then she'd only be listening to one or two tracks assuming we even get any battle music at all one month, so it'd make sense if she waited let's say 4 months and it'd nearly guarantee that she'll have a nice handful to work with. But of course this is only if she wants to, I'm not trying to force anything. If she feels that she doesn't want to continue doing Masters lists after she's done most, if not all categories, then I'll respect the decision and not judge at all. Honestly with how rare Masters ost reactions are on KZbin, what she's given already has been a treat

I was disappointed with the Hoenn sinnoh and Unova themes. Hoenn was underwhelming and I have no idea why they changed the main theme of Unova and Sinnoh. Unova starts off and ends nice but why tf did they change the middle? I know different doesn’t always mean bad, but this time it really does. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it
