Very useful video! I own this exact SKMEI, and use it regularly for a year now as my swimming watch. Even tempting disaster by using the push buttons while it's wet (not underwater: that wouldn't be fair to the watch), and it works perfectly, no condensations whatsoever.

You are a legend Gary. This is a great service to watch buyers. As you may remember I've actually dived with Heimdallr and Steeldive watches with no issues. However I think your testing will give people a sense of security if they buy something that you have tested and it passes or even if a watch they like fails, they cwn understand that they should be careful with it.

Not necessairly true. The batches of watches should be tested continously. Look what happened to Escapent Time fliegers. They used to be the best of the best 3-4 years ago, but today's units are at least mediocre. The quality dropped according to many reviews.

If you want to increase your testing rigour, place watches on the radiator BEFORE the pressure tests as well, followed by ice block, for checking the atmosphere of the watch's starting condition. Then if after the pressure test, there is more condensation than before, well, bingo! fail

Hey Gary! Curious why you don’t do the condensation test first to see if any water is already in the watch when you bought it then do the pressure tests with Herman. This would allow you to do a before and after Herman ingress comparison. Great video as usual.

Time but also I’m not sure how it impacts the fit of the crystal…does it shrink it and how long would I need to wait for it to return to normal size?

​@@ILikeWatches2 HI Gary, I studied materials engineering in my young days and don't worry an ice cube will not shrink or distort mineral glass or sapphire. It may however effect resin or hexalite crystals. Given that, there is no need to do an ice cube test first, they will all show some condensation it doesn't matter if it's a Rmalti or a Rolex, there is always water content in the air inside a watch and condensation will appear. It's a fruitless exercise. Keep with your original method.

@@brianmsahin Yes, most if not all watches will have some condensation prior to the water pressure test. The idea of doing the condensation test prior to the water pressure test and after the water pressure test is to use the initial test to evaluate relative amounts of condensation pre and post test. if you have a small amount of condensation prior to the water pressure tests and much more after, that would indicate moisture ingress.

I’m curious. Is there a difference in the thermal conductivity between a mineral crystal, and sapphire. This might affect the condensation.????

That's a really good question, Marc @ LIW sometimes tests sapphire crystals by placing them on the forehead; a sapphire crystal will be noticeably cooler.

I never wear my watches if I think they will even get slightly wet. I do not even care what the WR is rated. I will take a watch off just to wash my hands. I have had several inexpensive and several very expensive watches fail just swimming at a beach that claimed they were good for deep diving. When one of those high end watches fail they try to blame you. I fought with an AD because a new (R brand) watch failed two weeks after I bought it luckily I knew the owner of the Watch Store and he sent it back to the manufacturer they admitted the seal on the case had failed somehow and rebuilt the watch and I got back 6 or 7 months later. After that I just decided no to wear watches in the water after that.

Ok, so I understand why you no longer review Benyar watches, which makes sense. They are really dishonest on their listings. Why are Pagani no longer reviewed? I would have liked to have seen their Sub homages in the test.

They don’t own the name, the car company does, the Italian car company owns the trademark for class 14 which is jewellery and watches which makes pagani watches fakes…technically they are illegal and Anyone who reviews them risks losing their channel in the future if their content is reported to KZbin.

So my original 50 dollar Tandorio, Invicta, and Pagani real steel and real steal tool-watches beat 50-thousand dollar Swiss imitation tool-watches with their water resistance? Case closed, Chinese watches and Japanese calibres are superior to over-priced Swiss watches made with underpaid Swiss workers, in a country where 40K (I checked watch assembly wages) barely pays rent! These profiteering Swiss con-artists should be ashamed!
