ILL NINO on Robbs MetalWorks 2022

'Self Actualization' is the realization OR fulfillment of one's talents and potentialities, especially as a drive to succeed; and while this word & definition are aspired by many, the simple fact is that it may never come to fruition for some. When we think of some of our favorite METAL bands it's sometime easy to forget that these groups (& marriages) are made of individuals each with their respective personalities, strengths & character flaws,...& often times change is the only apparatus able to keep the vision alive. But what I know, is that ANY fan can appreciate this 'coming of age', especially when it reaches that pinnacle of self-actualization for the bands who are part of our own heritage. And, indeed that time has FINALLY come for Ill Nino! Led by the mastermind, drummer, Dave Chavarri, the band has weathered significant line-up changes, an exhausting lawsuit & an uncertain future, but have yet managed to CONTINUE to release amazing NEW music in the past couple of years (such as, 'Mascara' 'Sangre' & 'All Or Nothing') & bring together a group of Texas based rockers who, have not only brought a new vigor into the bands music & performances, but the much needed inner peace which has elevated Ill Nino to a much grander (& happier) plateu. On Sunday, March 13th, 2022 I caught up with the WHOLE band here in San Antonio on the FIRST show of the 'Brothers In Arms' tour for a wonderully candid & heart-felt chat. SO, in the interview below you will hear/see us discuss the following: this new era for the band, the RETURN of original guitarist, Marc Rizzo, overcoming overwhelming challenges, the writing process for the band's NEW release, 'Ill Mortals' (dropping May 6th), upcoming videos & singles, the history & legacy of the band,....& some COOL stories Dave shares about percussionist, Danny Couto. @@duskomarkovic8901 honestly , Ill Niño is one of those bands who need to perish with dignity. They are iconic ,but like most great bands have to come to an end. Way too many changes, way too much drama...they have lost their true essence.

Sorry Dave. Seen you guys many times when you came to europe. But you just sound bitter. No reason to slag of former members Even though you May not Get along today. Without those members you would not sit there today making interviews and you know it, same goes to Laz! Respect the fans thats Been there since revoulition, the fans that love you and have paid money to see you, and CDs and whatever. Machado is shining with LATG. And thats just how it goes,hating or using every interview to be negative about former members aint going to help. Be grateful for what was, and be hopeful for the future. But you cant rewrite the history of ill Niño.

I remember being one of the stagehands at Sunset Station and ill Nino would come through like 3 times a year at least. Really good dudes. To this day I still wonder what the hell is in Marc's backpack. Lol

Man, that couldn't be farther from the truth. I've known Cristian for many years and while it's true that becoming famous got too into his head, it's the exact same you'd expect to happen to any of us if we got famous quickly at a young age. It happened to ALL of the band members equally. If anything, the problem is that since Dave pretty much started the band, he feels entitled to be the main dude, and simply couldn't stand that Cristian, who wasn't even supposed to be the singer in the first place, became the singer, the most recognized, the one that girls liked, and Dave has been nutter all along. You can tell even by listening to him speak in this very interview. He's trying so hard to come across like a badass, forcing f bombs where he it doesn't even sound like that's how he normally speaks, and all he's focused on is trying to convince everyone that they're just so awesome now that Cristian isn't in the band. A person who genuinely feels secure, wouldn't even mention anything about anyone else. He's forever butthurt.
