Don't Pursue Freedom from Pornography, Pursue Christ

So, I’ve been a believer in Jesus for the past 20 years, and I’ve struggled with pornography for the past 33 years, since I was 10. I’ve been attending recovery groups for my sexual addiction for the past 6 years. 7 weeks ago I had a bit of a breakthrough. I realized that I was not truly repentant of my sexual sin, because I kept repeating it over and over. I haven’t touched porn since. However, I don’t believe I’ve been trying to get freedom from porn for the last six weeks, though for the previous six weeks I was. I gave up porn because I knew that I was letting my Lord and Savior down repeatedly. Now that I’ve watched this video, I’m going to pivot, and begin to pursue Christ more fervently, because no matter how I see it, I love God and I love Jesus. I have been clean for seven weeks, and I haven’t been tempted much in that time, but I’ve been extremely cognizant of the fact that I’ve been feeling like I’m standing tall, and the truth is that if I remain in this thought process, I’m in for a serious fall! Well said, young lad. Your wisdom, I'd say, is well beyond your years. Keep speaking and telling the good news. Jesus and being in an intimate and personal relationship with God, Jesus and Holy Spirit is the only way to be set free and remain free from our addictions, no matter what the world labels them as. Jesus said, “I tell you most solemnly that anyone who chooses a life of sin is trapped in a dead-end life and is, in fact, a slave. A slave can’t come and go at will. The Son, though, has an established position, the run of the house. So if the Son sets you free, you are free through and through. John 8:34‭-‬35 MSG Staying Christ focused instead of sin focused, is the way to freedom. What we focused on, the Bible tells us, is what is magnified in our lives. So why magnify sin? Magnify the Lord oh my soul and all that is within me. Amen!

Thank you for this video, but how is it someone can just fully let go of trying to escape porn, and instead pursue jesus christ? I have a hard time doing that. I just wanna get free from this insanity

Well friend, though you are lost, you do not to remain so. Christ came to seek and save the lost. Do you realize that you can come to Him and have life? He came to pay for our sin debt that we might be forgiven in Christ.

@@illbehonest I know all of that, but whenever I come to Him and feel forgiven, loved and happy, somehow all of that runs away and I sin more. Whenever I see the faith preachers that I like have in His love and the delight they have in His presence (something I never tasted), I realize I'm so far away from all of that... And when I do believe and enjoy Him, suddenly so many different kind of thoughts try to push me away. That joy is so short lived

​@@haniel_cm Have you ever tried to speak to these thoughts or to the devil that might be the origin of these thoughts, and forbid him in the name of Jesus to enter in your mind? And then replace these dirty and destructive thoughts by reciting bible verses like 2. Corinthians 5.17, but in personal form like: "I am a new creation in Christ, old things are passed away; all things are become new." Repeat this some times. Or watch, instead of porn, the scene of Christs crucifiction from Passion of Christ with the clear consciousness, that all this horrible suffering he endured was because of your terrible sin and his unconditional love for you. And I guarantee you, that you will no more be capable to sin, if you practice that with strong seriousness and the right mindset. At least in my case that works. And pray to Jesus, that he gives you his same deep love for all what is good, godly and pure, and his same abysmal hatred for all what is evil, dirty and sinful. trying to pray and read the Bible more will do no good to a porn addict. What (and in 98% of cases the only thing that will help) is specialised Christian group meetings, basically - support groups. Check our, for example, Pure Desire Ministry. Any attempts to fight porn addiction alone will do nothing.

A person who has a great relationship with Christ does not seek sin and looking at porn, trust me I know

Without addressing the spiritual root of the porn addiction with a gospel centred ethos of Christ Alone , then Specialised accountability Christian Group meetings, and support groups alone will do nothing. Porn addicts only pursuing freedom from porn, without Christ breeds attitude of the Pharisee in the parable in Luke 18:9-14. Weeks, months, and years abstaining from porn may feel good,but now your new sin is Pride like that Pharisee.
