What I like most about StS is the fact that all the characters are excelled at beating very hard deck building testing (ascension runs) and optimizing aspects of the for speed (daily’s) at the same time

I actually saw map generation algorithm for StS on github that outputs same map for a given seed, so it's possible to find answer about number of shops there

I feel like I have always counted 3 shops on every map I've ever seen. At a guess, they're just placed totally randomly (but not one after another).

I've seen 2 shops and 4 shops before, and they always seem to spawn more often in the first half of an act for me.

Ceramic Fish is a common relic, while Old Coin is a rare relic. They are not meant to be equal in power

I had a weird run the other day (unmodded) on A20 that had only two entrance points to the act and only 4 elites on the entire math (and no path had more than two elites).

Combust and rupture or whatever it's called gave me my first heart win with iron. I had 3 upgraded combustion and the strength gain was tremendous with other cards as well lol

Looks like the number of shops is .05 * the number of rooms rounded to the nearest integer.

I can confirm this. There are 105 possible room spots but I don't think they can all be filled, and you need 70 rooms to start seeing the 4th shop. The act 1 in this video had 59 rooms, and you need 49 or less to only see 2 shops. You would need 90 rooms to see a 5th shop, but that's very close to the 105 maximum so it may not be possible since 12 of the rooms are taken up by floor 1 which is all monsters and floor 15 which is all rest sites, leaving only 3 empty spaces, so the map would basically need to be entirely full to get this. This value is the same for all 4 acts. Obviously act 4 has fixed generation so the 5% is meaningless there.

For the argument about inate brutality. Im wondering if you’re hesitant to discard the brutality, doesn’t that imply you desire it to be in your starting hand, thus making it worth upgrading. In the fights where you dont want it you can just discard it anyways.

I still don't know when or what card is exhaustable , I'm quite afraid to eat out my own deck and lose , anyone have any idea the time to exhaust a card?

Basically, any card that you would want to remove from the deck at a shop is a good candidate for exhausting. Most fights do not last for more than a few turns so the key cards that will win the fight quickly should be saved. Everything else can be thrown out. As you play the game you will get a sense of what cards are worth keeping for specific scenarios. Best way to learn is to just start exhausting cards and take notes on how it affects your deck. Note that in StS there's almost always exceptions given a set scenario, but understanding how to handle those exceptions comes with practice. Good luck!

I think some relics are coded to not show up after certain floors. For example, I don't think you can get winged boots past mid act 3. I don't think I've ever seen maw bank as a reward for the act 4 elites. Though, there are still some relics that are useless as act 4 elites rewards that will still appear.

What combo is the title even talking about? Double discovery isn't a combo, it's just using two of a decent card. Combust/Brutality + Tungsten Rod is certainly not a new one.
