Someone did this in a large creek near where I live around 10 years ago. It was made of wood instead, and they had trapped so many freshwater trout and striper. A hatchet made quick work of it. This was pretty common back in the day, though, my great grandfather is a native and he said their tribe used to catch fish like this, but they would only leave the dams up for a couple of hours, then remove them. The dam in this video has been up for awhile evidently. Thank you for calling and hopefully this is taken care of soon. If not, hook a chain to it and rip the thing out.

That’s why I won’t buy fish bought from native Americans. They still fish without ethics, they sell to stores near Mackinaw Bridge. Not a fan and my mom is a card holding Native American, I’m only 1/8th so I can’t get my card…

Carp are not native to North American waters, but various carp species have been introduced here since the mid-1800s, much to the detriment of native fish. Although carp eradication measures have been active for over 100 years, long-established species, like the common carp, are present in almost every state.

I was undr the impression that although a property owner can own the ground under the water of a river or waterway, he does not have legal control of the water or the fish that swim in it. The fact that he may own the dry land on both sides, it is illegal to place any barrier such as this, from one side to the other. Also, I believe the public has the right to travel up and down such a waterway as long as people are floating off the bottom. Therefore, as far as the law allows, people can fish the waters but cannot do it from the landowner's property.

common carp have been in these waters since late 1800s they have been naturalized by this point and the gizzard shad are native and date i saw was 1880s but if your right thats 30 more years towards 200 years they have been here many places are seeing them as naturalized by this point
