A ballad for the ages! Kanami has said this song was her most difficult composition, and one her favorites! Saiki and Miku make a magical combination, love them! Kanami's solo is a great release of pent up emotion! Misa's bass is always great 👍! Akane is fantastic on the drums! Another great mid tempo song that really shows Saiki's voice is Wonderland!

MISA (the basest) and Akane (the Drummer) both went to very famous music school in japan (Tokyo school of music). MISA also plays piano. Akane also plays Piano and Trombone. But Kanami (lead guitar) is the one who arranges the music and puts it together. she is a musical genius IMHO. she played Piano for 15 years before switching to guitar. Miku (Rhythm Guitar and back up vocals) is the one who got all these amazing ladies' together. and is the main Lyricist. she realized early on she didn't have a strong enough voice for the music so she became the back up vocals. and started to learn how to play guitar from Kanami. And Saiki (lead vocals) was brought in to take over for Miku. she is also apparently the one that says that the songs are done, because Kanami is a perfectionist and wont stop fiddling with the song. the also apparently reviled the maid outfits to her just before there first show.

Another piece of song composing magic from Kanami. Saiki and Miku’s vocals are so beautiful in this song especially Miku after Kanami’s solo. Agreed re the U2 notes. Very prevalent in 1 part of Onset live in 2018 too. Lighting is brilliant in the clip. About Us is another ballad. What makes The Maids so unique. That diversity. Band Maid have always been ultra professional from MV’s to live recordings, they've always been wonderfully produced. Misa is often high in the mix.

The similarity to U2's guitar sound has been noted before! Personally, I think it's down to the delay/ echo effect which Kanami is using during the quiet sections - something The Edge has made very good use of over the years! That solo though, that's pure Kamani and it's still able to bring a lump to my throat even after more listenings than I can remember.

Daydreaming, About Us, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, Wonderland, Awkward, Start Over, Mirage and Smile -- an unbelievable range of mid-tempo songs from the greatest hard rock band on the planet - Band-Maid. "Daydreaming," "YOLO," "Puzzle," and a host of others are world-class masterpieces. Although I love Daydreaming just the way it is and believe it may be Band-Maid's best composed and overall accessible song, I've always wonder if it was sung in English, how deep in the international market Daydreaming would have traveled...? This is one of my favorite Bandmaid songs. Kanami's guitar solo in this gives me goosebumps every time. I don't know what's in the water in Japan, but (in my opinion) Japanese girls are setting the bar in music right now - Bandmaid, Lovebites, Nemophila and others. When you see any of the girls from any of the groups in interviews, they seem so nice (and even very shy for some of them). They truly love and appreciate their fans, and you just don't see the ego you see in so many bands. I'm an old guy and when I first started listening to music, girl groups were just a novelty. Even when there were girls, they only sang (or did backup vocals) and never played their instruments. I absolutely love seeing these girls step up and say, "We can do anything the guys can do, and we can do it better." These groups are pretty much all I listen to anymore. Why not listen to the best?

"I have no idea to this day what those two Japanese ladies were singing about. Truth is...I don't wanna know. Some things are best left unsaid. I like to think they were singing about something so beautiful it can't be expressed in words...and makes your heart ache because of it. I tell ya, those voices soared...higher and farther than anybody in a grey place dares to dream. It was like some beautiful pigeon (Po!) flapped into our drab little cage and made those walls dissolve away. And for the briefest of moments...every last Master and Princess felt free"... Loved the reaction. Funny you said "It's like a perfectly written song." This was one of the first songs I'd heard by the band about a year ago, and I came away thinking the exact same. Since then I've been through their entire catalog multiple times, so I'll just say, "You ain't seen nothing yet." This band has so many of these types of songs that sound so unique from each other that it's tough to recommend one without just making a list. For example, they have a number of mid-tempo songs like this, and if you asked me which were the best to recommend, I'd literally say all. Enjoy the ride. I'll recommend Blooming or Yolo next from their YT channel: they are both masterpieces imo that I think you'll have a similar reaction to. :)

This song is magical. Every time I hear it is different. It is also very emotional. One thing to keep in mind is this song was earlier in their career so they are playing with older instruments. Kanami is still on her Addictone, iirc, MISA is still playing a 4 string bass, Akane hasn't added her other tom and cymbals, Miku is on her disc front Zemaitis, and finally Saiki's voice isn't quite as full then as it is now. What's really amazing about this song (apart from Saiki's vocals and MISA's bass) is that even though it is such a different vibe and tone from most of their other songs it is still easily recognizable as a Band-Maid song. They really are a genre' unto themselves. :) Recent versions of this song are even better. The live version from the recent online Okyu-ji is absolutely gorgeous. If you like this I would suggest Wonderland (live). Its in the same vein as this.

There aren't too many "ballads" where you can say that the drums are one of the biggest highlights of the song. Akane's musicality on this track is unreal. The drums aren't just keeping time or driving the beat here. They are actually functioning as a "voice" along with the other instruments. She does a lot of amazing and technical playing on Band-Maid's other tracks. But I'd actually argue that Daydreaming is her master class.

What! No one posted Miku's awesome lyrics? Let's fix this... RIGHT NOW!: Daydreaming, don’t wake me up There's nothing I can do with a hoarse voice Stay next to me tonight Hold on, feel my soul As we swayed under the moonlight Our shadows blended together Clumsiness intertwined I hope tonight does not end This may be wrong Though I thought it was over I still want to believe I feel more alive in this moment Day Dreaming, dreaming about you Day Dreaming, dreaming about you So, I'm daydreaming, don’t wake me up There's nothing I can do with a hoarse voice Stay next to me tonight, Don’t go I want to daydream, don’t let it disappear We cannot go back, so don’t go Stay next to me tonight Hold on, feel my soul Feeling the distance of this breath Somehow I love you so much Our shadows start to move And dissolves in the early hours This may be wrong Though I thought it was over I still want to believe I feel more alive in this moment Daydreaming, dreaming of you Daydreaming, dreaming of you Daydreaming, dreaming of you Daydreaming, dreaming of you So, I'm daydreaming, do not wake up There's nothing I can do with a hoarse voice Stay next to me tonight Do not go I want to daydream, don’t let it disappear We cannot go back, so don’t go Stay next to me tonight Hold on, feel my soul

If BAND-MAID has a perfect song that would have to be 'Blooming'. 'Daydreaming' is perfect for what it is. It's the Softer Side of BAND-MAID. Not quite the Acoustic Ballads they're also know for. I hadn't thought of U2 until you mentioned them, but as soon as you did, the song that can't to mind was Where the Streets Have No Name, and I really dig it. I love how much emotion Saiki brings to this one, you can feel the yearning without even knowing the lyrics. I love Kanami's solo of course, but I think my favorite part is the second half of the second verse, where the beat changes to a more straight ahead 4/4. It's like they were taking it easy up until then, but now they're really moving and they're taking us with them, ready or not.
