It starts with episodes of Trails to Oishii Tokyo and Journeys in Japan on CreateTV, followed by a great Band Maid Sunday with NittPicc. A nice brunch, a nice session of exercise, plenty of relaxation. A nice Band Maid themed video by Ohrenje followed by a nice meal topped off by a Hammer Horror movie. Since I'm a mailman, most weekends consist of Sunday only. LOL! Once every 6 weeks we get Friday-Sunday off. Less than 3 weeks til Baseball season NittPicc!

Kanami was once asked which song she was most proud of, her answer was Daydreaming. Miku is playing her first Zemaitis, the Buckeneer. This era was a turning point in the band's evolution as their song became more complex. Kanami really started finding her songwriting chops and Miku's lyrics and guitar skills became the stepping stone for this band to move forward.

I had a similar experience with "About Us". I had just lost both of my parents to Covid when i first discovered Band Maid. Thrill was the first I saw from them. Soon after that I saw "About Us" and my heart was forever healed by them. My mother was a concert pianist and my father was a vocalist. When Saiki sang "I will light your life up with my voice" I literally sat there and cried openly. It was the most cathartic moment I had experienced since the loss of my parents. I know it wasn't about them, but that is where it hit me as I remembered all of the times my parents each lit up my life with their voices. Love you Band Maid....forever!

Tube lighting is a key visual element in the MV for Blooming. Beyond that is how the music was written. Kanami gave musical homework to each band member. She took the "answers" and wove them into the song Blooming. Many fans, myself included, rank it as their favorite song.

Many describe Band-Maid as using many genres, that's true. But for me growing up in the 50s-60s and loving music I heard then, I didn't hear genres, didn't even think like that. There was just music I loved and what it was crossed what later got divided into genres and which separated fans into cubbyholes. Band-Maid breaks through that and embraces the joy of good music without the boundaries that got cemented in place over the decades. Just one of many reasons I love them and became a maidiac.

Me too! I remember Miku's scolding and since I was new too, was glad it wasn't me! From fan cams I was glad to learn that the sound was decent up front, because from half-way back, the cement-box acoustics blenderized everything except Misa, and Omajinai the-most-important time, so it was still a great show. A different Philly venue had 20,000 watts of kick drum and bass guitar during Baby Metal, which felt awesome and exciting, but it totally covered all the higher pitches, so no vocals or guitars survived. Hopefully that was just a bad spot too and everyone else had good sound.

The "Birds" on Kanami's guitar are a signature trait of "PRS" guitars. She moved to them shortly after the band started to get more popular. She started with the japanese brand "Adictone" which can be scene in the "Thrill" video. After 5 years, for me this is still the undisputed #1 of these ladies, or rather, it will always have special status for me in general. ❤‍🔥 Every single note, every space in this song is absolutely spot on. Not too much, not too less, just perfect for the mood of Saiki and Miku's lyrics... And then there's the buildup with Kanami's solo explosion.... I love the comparison that one of your colleagues here on YT mentioned several years ago, that it feels like being run over by a truck and the only and last thing you hear is the screeching of the emergency brakes, for which it is far too late. When I heard it for the first time, I didn't think much about the lyrics of all the songs and didn't understand a single word, and yet it hit me like an arrow from a crossbow in a very sensitive spot in the chest area. And it still does today. So the only thing I could blame the song for is that those nasty onion ninjas seem to like it a lot too and keep gathering in my room whenever it's being played. 🥹🤘🏻 A few years ago, Kanami said that this was her most difficult song to date, but also her favorite. And even though I suspect it has a relatively painful background, I wish I could look into the mind of this little genius. _____________________ 「 _"Our rock never dies ever. An acoustic version of the song was presented for the first time at BAMD-MAID's OKYUJI concert in Shibuya, Tokyo, on 20 March. It was a surprise concert in which SAIKI, the vocalist, sang while playing the piano. The warm sound of the acoustic guitar, the clear piano sound and SAIKI singing along with her own piano playing... I was surprised and moved, and the heart-stopping, heart-pounding sound made me feel as if I were in heaven. The band's concerts are never the same, as stated in the "Laws of BAND-MAID". Every concert is a 'once in a lifetime encounter' and 'one and only'. The concert confirmed this rule once again. I don't know how many OKYUJI concerts there will be outside Japan this year. But if you are able to go and 'come home' to OKYUJI, it will be an unforgettable memory.

There are some treasures in the Band Maid vault that just too special to be hidden from view. The acoustic set of Saiki and Kanami from Zepp Tokyo 2018 of Puzzle and Anemone are a true treasure for our ears. In the full version there is a beautiful "music box" version of Anemone to set the mood before they start playing Puzzle then Anemone. This is Anemone. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXrFm6p3g9Jpn6s

Was looking forward to this!---and Nittpicc does not disappoint ! ---- which STILL leaves MANNERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-- Got to do it next ! While Daydreaming is ,all on its own, a special ,untouchable little masterpiece . Manners hits everything dead centre.---------it couldn't be more complete ,or more masterful. (It;s back to the same good old predicament, I guess: ....ok, they are B O TH my favourite) !. But Manners maybe even more so.....................................too good to be true.

I love Sundays with NittPicc and Band Maid, the most versatile band in rock!. This song probably has two of the band's most memorable live intros, one on piano (Zepp Tokyo 2018) and another on guitar (Yokohama Arena 2023). Kanami Tono is the most emotional songwriter I know. Her ability to strike a nerve with her melodies is something unmatched, a wonderful thing to be alive.

BAND-MAID has a lot of "reactors" over the years, but a very few really stand out and you have quickly become one of those. I hope you stick around and thank you for sharing some awesome reviews and insight into your own artistic heart. :)

I wonder how many times the director had to ask Akane to stop smiling! Miku's pre-chorus is so addictive. Kanami's solo, pure emotional chaos, and one of my favorites. And the cherry on top, Saiki ending the song with the line, feel my soul. It's just so frickin' beautiful

I was lucky to get to live stream the 10th anniversary final at Yokohama Arena. When they opened a set with this song I literally had to wipe tears from my eyes. I don't know if any band has ever had as big an impact on my life as BAND-MAID. I get so much joy out of the music they make. For me, they are all "feels" songs.

Kanami composes music like ikebana (Japanese flower arranging - making flowers come alive) not bland and symmetrical, that evolving and dynamic quality to the music just sets them apart from any other band to my ears. And her guitar is her voice, that solo in the middle just burns with emotional intensity, as strong as Saiki's voice.

Thanks Nitpicc for checking this out, and thanks SJ for suggesting it. This is an old fan favorite. They can thrash, but showing this kind of restraint and allowing all the emotions to come through is the mark of a truly great band. There is a live version of this which you may be able to find, in which Kanami opens with a gorgeous piano solo. Very much worth checking out as well.

Nittpicc, I think others have mentioned it but you might enjoy the “Gold Rush” TV interview the Maids did a few years back. Really get to see the members personalities. Also, the Ohrenje documentaries are excellent, which I think you’re planning to do. Oh, btw, on your Patreon “Bob Dylan” concert preview, the guy stepping to the mic is Eric Clapton “Slowhand” of solo fame but he was also in the band “Cream”, the original power trio, and the band “The Yardbirds”. Both the recently departed guitar virtuoso Jeff Beck and Led Zeppelin mastermind guitarist Jimmy Page were in The Yardbirds.

One of my top favourite BAND-MAID songs. It has some U2 vibes. I suspect that had this been a song by a western band with English vocals, it would have been stuck on # 1 in the charts in Europe and the US for weeks, and deservedly so.

Everyone's recommending Blooming for the tube lights, but if you want to stay on this emotional journey, check out Puzzle - and if you want to hear two very different takes on the song with completely different feels, also do their acoustic performance of Puzzle from Zepp Tokyo 2018 with just Saiki and Kanami.

Another great reaction. Daydreaming is in my top two all time favorites. And why not, especially if it is/was Mincho's favorite song. Daydreaming along with Blooming, depending on my mood at the time, flip-flop 1 and 2. Then 50 or so songs battle it out for number 3. 😉 I agree with others suggestion of Blooming, being a natural next reaction. Not because it's my number 1 or 2, but because is a fantastic song and they bring light tube use to a whole new level! PO!!!🕊 WORLD DOMINATION!!! 🤘😆🤘

Thank you for your wonderful comments. Their level of musical instrument performance is top-class in the world, and Kanami's ability to compose over 130 songs and her genius, who says there are no bad songs, are amazing. What's most amazing is that everyone in the group has such amazing "sensibilities" in playing instruments and singing. Bandmaid is truly one of the highest level groups in the world's rock world today.
