Kanami is a woman who knows rock well. As long as she is a band-made brain, she will succeed. The melody is pop J rock, but the background is completely hard rock. Bass and drums are the lifeline of this band. If it were a safe world this year, Band-Maid would have achieved world domination. Did you see the other two hours of online live?
@waynen67652 жыл бұрын
I'm unsure how many songs I heard of theirs the first night I discovered them... this was one of them, and perhaps the clinch-pin of what made me a complete fan. I'm only two weeks in and still watching several react videos, etc. A rare thing for a band to be stuck in my head this persistently after such a short time with them.
@Kevin60594 жыл бұрын
That emotion you're feeling is as much because of their insanely brilliant songwriting ability as it is because of Saiki's voice (which is of course awesome) - and don't even get me started about the guitar solo!

Daydreaming is in my top three Band-Maid songs and your next Band-Maid song should be Blooming (mv).
@bigbrutalbassbeer4104 жыл бұрын
Yah, Daydreaming will have your eyes wet before you realize it. The chord progressions are really full of emotion! Miku, rhythm guitarist/vocalist, is singing with Saiki about 90% of the time, and they’re so good at harmonizing that much of the time, you’ll think it’s just one voice. Oh, and I’m not a part of that 93% you mentioned earlier!😊💪🏻🤘🏻

What astounds me about this song is how it is able to encompass feelings of melancholy, and hopefulness, whilst maintaining a rock intensity. That is what separates this song from all other "power ballads" for me! You would have to be a complete sociopath to not be moved by this song. Miku's secondary vocal is what brings this whole song together, for me. Yes, all the parts are incredible, but hers is what sends it over the top. As that is what really brings the hopefulness to the forefront and sets up Kanami up perfectly for her guitar solo. Of course, you have Misa and Akane injecting the energy to propel the song forward as any truly great rhythm section does. Which just leaves Saiki to tell the story in the way that only she can.
@mr.bluebird65444 жыл бұрын

From Japan.The great thing about BAND-MAID is its incredible diversity. If you like this song, I think it would be interesting for you to react to the song Puzzle. There is an electric guitar version and an acoustic version of the puzzle. The same song is played by the same band, but they sound completely different. And both are unbelievably great. I think you will also like songs like Rinne, REAL EXISTENCE, DOMINATION, MORATORIUM, etc.
@lurkmerchant4 жыл бұрын
That long guitar solo is so emotional it almost sounds like she's violently crying. Even though the title is daydreaming, it's about the person in the relationship, possibly forbidden one, and wishing it's not just a dream that's gonna end. Don't want to wake up from it. You can hear the whole story in it.

Don't know if anyone posted these beautiful lyrics written by Miku: Daydreaming, don’t wake me up There's nothing I can do with a hoarse voice Stay next to me tonight Hold on, feel my soul As we swayed under the moonlight Our shadows blended together Clumsiness intertwined I hope tonight does not end This may be wrong Though I thought it was over I still want to believe I feel more alive in this moment Day Dreaming, dreaming about you Day Dreaming, dreaming about you So, I'm daydreaming, don’t wake me up There's nothing I can do with a hoarse voice Stay next to me tonight, Don’t go I want to daydream, don’t let it disappear We cannot go back, so don’t go Stay next to me tonight Hold on, feel my soul Feeling the distance of this breath Somehow I love you so much Our shadows start to move And dissolves in the early hours This may be wrong Though I thought it was over I still want to believe I feel more alive in this moment Daydreaming, dreaming of you Daydreaming, dreaming of you Daydreaming, dreaming of you Daydreaming, dreaming of you So, I'm daydreaming, do not wake up There's nothing I can do with a hoarse voice Stay next to me tonight Do not go I want to daydream, don’t let it disappear We cannot go back, so don’t go Stay next to me tonight Hold on, feel my soul

At the top of your Band-Maid list should be: "YOLO" (my personal fav), "Alone" (Kanami's best guitar solo?), and "Blooming". When I listen to these three songs I'm left shaking my head as I can't believe they're that good. You'd like "Dice" too.
@waynebenedict46094 жыл бұрын
If you want bass line, check out Yolo or Dice! Onset, an instrumental, is awesome! Play, live especially, is terrific! For a fantastic drum solo, Freedom, live, from the Feb 14, 2020 show! And Alone, the first self written song allowed on a album, is still one of Kanami's best solos. Then there is Domination! Actually, Band-Maid has over 90 songs and counting, and they are all great and quite different from each other. Enjoy the ride, you'll find Band-Maid fans are quite addicted to them! If you want to hear Miku's voice, Rock in Me or Time, btw!

Ah lass, it warms me heart hearing the way you talk about the greatest rock band ever. I've played hard rock for years, but kinda fell out the genre. Seemed like it was getting a bit stale. Who would have thought that 4 Japenese chicks would restore my faith in rock. And who would have thought I'd get immense pleasure listening to a sweet, gorgeous Irish chick reacting to those 4 Japenese chicks. But here we are. Love your review, Clodagh. Rock on! Oh, if you really want your mind blown, check out Wagakki. They fuse Japense sounds/instruments/styles with more mainline rock. 8 member band. You won't be able to believe how incredible it is to be able to make out the flute and the koto (Koto is like a harp) all the way through a hard rock song. I'm sure you'll have a lot to say about the singer as well. Each of the 8 are masters and they've created something truly original. C ya in cyberspace....

Tip jar suggestions: 1) Since you like the bass line - the song Dice. Really showcases Misa's diversity in play styles. She is a serious talent 2) Domination - live version. You were impressed with their energy... But these are one of those rare groups that are consistently better in their live sets (in my opinion). Domination live set sort of lights a fuse in your skull, blows you into itty bitty pieces, and then slowly glues you back together... And then does it all over again. 3) Puzzle - my current favorite track. To be fair I'll have a different favorite each week. Puzzle hits different because of the way they dance the scales, mix time signatures, and as a drummer myself I have absolute respect for Akane, and how much subtle work she's doing during the drops and slow downs... She's the busiest maid during these parts. I'm so glad to see this band getting the attention they deserve because they are absolutely tremendous musicians that I feel have been getting overlooked because of the maid schtick. Also a non Band Maid tip jar suggestion: Start diving into Falling in Reverse... Intelligent lyrics, lore that stretches between songs, and face tearing music... Another group that deserves way more attention than they get and absolutely stands apart in the current music landscape. Raised by the wolves is a pretty accessible "standard song" by them, and Popular Monster is a kind of song that tells you what they're all about BM, and FIR have been pretty much dominating my playlists lately.

Thanks for covering Band-Maid, Kate. YOLO, Daydreaming, Puzzle and a number of others, are world-class masterpieces. Too bad no one (relatively speaking) knows about them. Band-Maid numbers should be in the tens of millions, if not higher. It's a complete mystery to me how people have moved away from mind, gut, and soul gripping rock... to cheezy, glitz & glam pop entertainers, industrial boy groups, and "I'm to cool for you" commercial hip-hop / rap crap. Maybe groups like Band-Maid, The Warning, Jinjer and others will once again ignite people's musical sensibilities back to where it should be - honest, rock-based, kick-ass music written from the heart -- and yes, that includes everything from classical, R & B, funk, grunge and soul to jazz, fusion, prog and metal. Wow... did I just say all that?? Sorry, slip of the fingers. 🤘😎🤘

The lead guitarist Kanami Tono writes and composes 95% of their music. Miku Kobato the rhythm guitarist writes the majority of the lyrics for their music and is also the founder of the band. If you want to hear a great guitar solo listen to Real Existence. To see their personalities watch the MV for Don't you Tell me, my own favorite MV. To see them live with each member getting a solo watch Domination live. But for a killer drum solo watch Freedom live. These last two are from the February 14, 2020 concert. Welcome to the Band-Maid family. There are also videos of breaks that they take where Miku talks to the audience, they have fun on stage. Oh, and when you said where did that bass line come from, MISA (yes, her name is all caps) is known as the Barefoot Assassin because during concerts she goes barefoot and will come out of nowhere to destroy you with an awesome bass line. Keep up the great job, hoping this will help in your journey down the rabbit hole.😁❤️
