I think Illumicrate need to start sending out more questionnaires to find out more what people want to see. I switched from Fairyloot to come over to Illumicrate and I have literally skipped most of the year. The book in this months box just sounds like a different version of She Who Became the Sun…not keen on this book at all. I thought the book was going to be The Phoenix Keeper or something like that

I really enjoyed this box! It was my first ever Illumicrate box and I have already read the book. It was really good, actually! I also enjoyed all the little items that came with it. ☺️

Love watching your unboxings Michelle. I feel like while the theming of the box was done well, they could've picked different items to be more bookish. Instead of the album, it couldve been a planner or notebook of some sort and the pencils were a bit random. I think a lot more people would find use for pens. Loved the bookmark and pin. I believe the colour of the hardback is Jade green (in a nod to the title 'Of Jade and Dragons'). I hate that there are so many cover changes billed exclusive when they have a minor change from the publisher. I loved what owlcrate did with the cover of this one.

I love when books have printing on the hardcover like that, and i love the intricate design like this one had, but i agree with you that this months book was not cohesive i the overall design. I've heard multiple people say this for their past books (and maybe that includes fairyloot too). I hope they'll listen to the feedback and do better in the future with the matching.

I'm finding that a lot of the Illumicrate books recently haven't had cohesive artwork, whereas Fairyloot's has gotten so much better ❤️

I've been skipping boxes since December, haven't regretted it after watching the previous months unboxing. Idk why but I've been kinda disappointed in the items and not interested in their book choices. Finally decided not to skip and I'm so glad I didn't. Usually I'm not fond of just a color swap for a cover, I think it's lazy, but the color scheme they went with is absolutely gorgeous and the sprayed edges are lovely. I also found all the items as something I would use, so I'm really pleased with this months box. Sadly, I know what the book is for next month and I'm not really interested so I skipped again, lol

To retract the pencil lead, depress the click and hold, then carefully push the lead back in. You can also load it that way if there is no other way to open the barrel.

want to add to this and say that to reload the pencil, you just pull the clicky thing (i don't know what that's called) off and put more pencil lead in! It's easy enough to put the clicky thing back on, I tried it with mine today, it's just the basic way to use these kinds of pencils

I don't understand why they would change the colorway of the OG cover 😭 Either make an entirely new one or keep the old and just put foiling on it cause those colors were gorgeous. I agree with you about everything individually being pretty but not all together? The items were cool though! And I am looking forward to actually reading the book anyway haha

Hi, for me it's a really underwhelming box, in terms of items but the book is actually pretty, even though I tend to prefer Fairyloot's customizations and books choices more. This is why I switched from full box to book only, but FOMO is a bad thing and I'm already regretting it.😅Anyway, I really enjoy your unboxings and I'm looking forward to the long awaited May box...

I tend not to like the exclusive covers from the publisher, I feel like a) it's a bit lazy, and b) they tend to be worse than the wholly custom covers

You should be able to put the pencil filler back in when you hold the button and push it back inside with your finger..

unlike dragons in the western mythos, dragons in eastern mythos tend to be believed to live in the water! as well as control water and storms, and are guardians of the cardinal poles (this is mostly chinese mythos, but many mythos of east asia borrows from chinese mythos). quite the opposite with western dragons being associated with fire.

Bit of a mediocre box for me! Items were a bit samey samey except the pencils, which are pretty, but I wouldn’t usually buy posh pencils! The sprayed edges on the book are gorgeous, but I agree this isn’t a book I’m rushing to pick up either! I hope I’m pleasantly surprised though! Xx

I agree Linz; when comparing it to the Fairyloot box this month it was no where near as good 😬 I hope that the book is a good read for both of us 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 x

I'm really happy with this box. I love the metal bookmark and the mechanical pencils especially. The book is really beautiful too, and I'm looking forward to reading it.

Love this book and the art work absolutely beautiful, I especially like the sprayed edge and the hard cover. Artwork album seemed an odd choice as illumicrate don’t do art work cards. Loved the other items. Illumicrate did say at the beginning of the month that the May box would be sent out after the June one so hopefully it’ll arrive soon 😊

Was the May book supposed to be that one, where the author turned out to be a racist who spammed other debiutants with bad reviews from multiple fake accounts, and then tried to pretend that she was the victim? --- I'm waiting for Owlcrate's "Of Jade and Dragons". (I hope it's not a spoiler? I can't remember which youtubers already posted their unboxings of that one.) I like their dust jacket more, but Illumicrate has a stunning hardcover. + I love Illumicrate's edge. The dragons is pretty. I hope I like the book

Yes that’s the author! What she did was horrific 😔 So glad that Illimicrate did the right thing and dropped the book (even though I think the publishers dropped it anyway). It’s not a spoiler to me as I keep up to date on all the book boxes, even the ones I dont get 😂 I hope that it’s a beautiful edition for you x
