I've watched his videos. Even if he tries making actual arguments on occasion, the arguments themselves grow specifically from the idea he thinks something is woke. Him and his audience's ideals are for targeting the exact kind of person Illy is and making it out to be an agenda of woke fat feminism and tattoos killing the female industry and he benefits coming at trying to look like the good guy for being cancelled.

Honestly when I hear about body positivity,my personal view on this topic is that "while acknowledging that being overweight is bad for people and health in general, overweight people deserve respect just like any other human being, while being aware of need to change to better themselves" I know I'm fat but I don't need to make it my whole personality or be reminded of it at every moment of my existence. I know it's a problem,I'm trying to better my body to be healthy and love myself even more,but on the way,I want to be treated normally,you get me? Glorification of being fat isn't okay, but also bullying people because of that isn't okay either. Harmless jokes are obviously out of the question,but straight up bullying shouldn't take place either
@CruelestChris4 ай бұрын
Problem is that they cause actual problems for society, like needing hospitals to have heavy-duty beds designed for zoo animals, requiring firefighters to use specialised lifting equipment, needing multiple seats anywhere there's seating, not fitting inside crematoriums, etc. Morbidly obese people create a whole series of problems outside of their own bodies. They physically _cannot_ be treated normally.

Did you fully watch her video? Because TBYS cut out and stitched stuff together to completely misrepresent her argument and make her look ignorant and awful. And this might be me but her answering a question on Tumblr (and nowhere else) on a post with less than 100 notes that she wished the video misrepresenting her and sending death and rape threats would get reported for harassment (which is nowhere near full on deplatforming) is pretty justified. You really just took everything at face value and spread misinformation that encouraged people to dox her.
@axyndey4 ай бұрын
you're blowing the situation out of proportion, the only thing he cut out was a line where she noted a precaution to the "carrots are the same as chocolate" line. That didn't really change much lol. Also it doesn't matter if the tumblr post holds a small percentage of her fanbase, people'll still see it. I agree that the comments and threats that resulted from tbys' video are pretty stupid and shouldn't have happened, it doesn't justify her poor way of handling the situation (refusal to watch the actual video and only rely on a friend's summary, suggest reporting the video when he didn't directly do anything wrong, etc.)

I think illy didn't notice that body types are a major factor with working out, my cousin ok, he's 6 foot, a very wide, if you didn't know any better you'd say he's fat, but he works as a emergency responder and a part time construction worker, he built like a brick wall, my point is that Illy probably thinks she's "fat" but it might just be she has a different body type to what she compares herself to, in other words, don't listen to her advice about your body, because she clearly doesn't know much about her own
@mattcoakes56826 ай бұрын
I think the best point: If you want this to end just stop making it a thing. Someone criticized you online. If you don't like the criticism, you can engage with it or ignore it. Things like expressing negative opinions about one's fashion sense or research approach is simply not harassment. To not watch a video and to call it harassment is just wild. If you think there was slander then address what you think is slanderous if that's important for you. If you "just want it to be over", then why make it a thing?

Real talk, tough but REASONABLY tough love is what the whole "fat acceptance" type of people need. You should love yourself. You shouldn't love something that negatively affects your health. Obesity can be and often is SO much more dangerous than stuff like smoking cigarettes, and nobody blinks twice when someone tells a loved one "hey that shits fucking with your health" . If someone is straight up "picking at you", go at em, but don't treat something like legitimate concern for an OBJECTIVE issue to be bullying.
@thebestbud6 ай бұрын
This!! A huge flaw I see in fat acceptance is them saying "love yourself" while actively supporting something that hurts you. It's completely self destructive and is fostering a unhealthy mindset that you shouldn't need to work on yourself, even if your bad habits are debilitating. It's like me saying I like stabbing my hand with a fork. Does it hurt me? Yeah. Does it make things harder for me? Definitely. Will I stop? No, because I love myself sooo much and stabbing my hand with forks is just apart of who I am. What do you mean it's unhealthy? You're being very forkphobic.
@JC-hf7zt6 ай бұрын
Exactly. Loving yourself MEANS LOVING YOURSELF. Especially with the all or nothing attitude they have wirh acceptance, it's funny how many half steps they actually take in practice. And forkphobic lol, it reminds me how people are in general staunchly against enabling anorexia, even people that do enable cant do it openly without the world tearing them apart. Loving yourself isnt just a feeling, its something that you have to actively do, and man i wish some of these body positivity influencers realized that.

About the whole fashion thing, TBYS was totally right. So many people think they are ugly, because they try to imitate the looks of celebrities when it comes to fashion and makeup, not taking into consideration their own body type and colors being vastly different from said celebrities, hence needing different fashion and makeup to match. Had he claimed to be a gay man, then he wouldn't have gotten this anger from those women in response. I, as a woman, actually really appreciate it when people share this knowledge. But I notice that women tend to take more offense if a man tells them, instead of another woman, or a gay man. But regardless, TBYS gave actual good advice in his video. Obesity is a societal issue. American cities are designed in a way that causes obesity. You have to go out of your way to get fit, so it's a lot easier to just run the fat acceptance grift. Fat acceptance isn't going away until it stops being normal to sit down 90% of the day.
@NomastiAfricanWarlord6 ай бұрын
This is a good point. Our society is designed in a way that makes being fat very easy. One of the reasons is how car centric our country is. You can't go anywhere without a car because cities aren't designed to be walkable and public transportation is limited. This is why rural areas tend to have more obesity than urban areas. People are discouraged from walking where they need to go.
@gamingwhilebroken23556 ай бұрын
Canadian cities are just as bad and our obesity rate is significantly lower than the usa (almost half). In fact Canada’s obesity rate drop from roughly ~30% to just over 24% in the past decade
@Acrylescent6 ай бұрын
@@gamingwhilebroken2355 as that may be true it’s an American societal problem. Health care in particular is much different than Canada. If people could comfortably go to the doctor without it possibly costing you a months rent, we could probably catch issues sooner and get people into a better place. Even with health insurance you could unknowingly go to a doctor outside your network especially if it’s an emergency and be out tens of thousands of dollars. Obesity is as much an educational issue as it is a laziness issue.
@Drako98236 ай бұрын

@TheElitedeath6 ай бұрын
Humans are naturally going to choose the path of least resistance, so if you live in a society with a lot of convenience, then most people will choose to be lazy, aka get fat. I don't think the solution is "well duh, just make things inconvenient again so that fatties HAVE to exercise regardless of what they want to do". I'm not defending America's car-dependence though, that's an entirely different issue that needs solving for different reasons...
