Bro! I'm Martha's great nephew, and THIS, has been the best, and most comprehensive / interview on her life, and career. You pulled out some vintage footage, that I haven't seen. Martha is a home body, and is humble to a fault. This is the most I've heard her talk about her life, and historic music career, and trust me I've asked her personally, lol. She would give snippets lol, so kudos to you on this Amazing expose on an Icon, who still to this day does not get her just due for her contributions to the music industry, and the world and she is the last one standing from her peers! There is no sporting event in the last several decades worldwide, where you don't hear her voice. The music industry really needs to recognize her for her contributions, and award her a Honorary legends Grammy. That should be the least of it, for she is a living legend! Give her her flowers, while she's still among the living. Auntie!, I love you dearly, and immensely. LOVINGLY your nephew Omar Marshall.

Martha Wash has an amazing story. I can hear her tell her story over and over. It fascinates me so much especially her years performing with Sylvester. I once saw Martha & Izora exiting a Cadillac behind the Palladium in New York City. They were entering through the backstage entrance because they were doing a show that night. When I saw them you can just feel the years of performing just all around them. They were walking in as if was just another show to them. LoL. I also had the privilege of seeing Martha & Izora singing background for Sylvester at a Record Pool party at the Pardise Garage in NYC IN 1986. There performance blew the roof of the place. They literally put to shame all the other performances that night. It felt like church in a Night Club. I was only 17 years old and I was watching these legends do what they do best, Sing. It was one of the most spiritual experiences of my life hearing all 3 of them sing on that stage. You can feel the love Martha, Sylvester & Izora had for each other. I was only 17 but I will never forget those voices. It was amazing.

When I hear this lady it takes me back to the late 80s/early 90s music era when dance acts were sampling powerhouse vocalists and not crediting them. I loved this interview and to hear the insight and thoughts on her musical journey. I am one of those that gravitated to her dance stuff (sorry Martha!). Her 2 tracks singing with Jocelyn Brown for Todd Terry in 1997 "Keep on Jumpin" and "Somethin Goin On" are considered dance classics. There is a reason why her voice resonates in dance music, this is because she is giving a warm injection of soul to balance the cold synth slick tracks. It's also so great she is still passionate about exploring other genres. There is another powerhouse vocal trinity that were getting #1s that can't be ignored. It consists of sampled women Martha Wash, Jocelyn Brown (Snap "The Power") Loleatta Holloway (the singer on Black box "Ride On Time"). Would love an interview with Jocelyn. One of my favourite track of hers is Jamestown "She Got Soul" which is compromised of her satisfying runs and riffs!
