As a russian native speaker I'm surprised how Sanskrit sounds similar to Slavic languages.
@Dyomaeth2 жыл бұрын
Lithuanian is even closer, to the point that there are entire sentences in Lithuanian and Sanskrit that contain basically the same words. For example: Sanskrit: Kas tvam asi? Asmi svapnas tava tamase nakte. Agniṃ dadau te śradi tada viśpatir devas tvam asi. Lithuanian: Kas tu esi? Esmi sapnas tavo tamsioje naktyje. Ugnį daviau tau širdy, tada viešpatis dievas tu esi.

I guess Tai Kadai still doesn't have any representation in this list. And still there many more Tibeto-Burman and Austroasiatic languages languages to be included from the Northeast of India. Even our ancestors had to struggle a lot to get Bodo language recognized as one of the 22 scheduled language. Once endangered and supposedly expected to go extinct back then to 1.5 million speakers at present , I guess we came a long way .

@rishabhrox12 жыл бұрын
Proud of Bodo speakers for managing to preserve their language so well. But as you said, only 1.5 Million speakers of the language exist and i assume the internet penetration must be not so strong among the Bodo population so they are getting less visibility in such videos. Or perhaps they are a close knit community with not much interaction outside of fellow Bodos in general? Whatever be the reason, I truly wish Bodos get their representation and let us hear their rare and beautiful language more and more on film and media.
@o0...9572 жыл бұрын
@@rishabhrox1 Yeah, I hope so too. As for close knit I guess it is somewhat true and a lots of books in Bodo hasn't been translated to other languages. And there's a channel called Florin' vlog and more where she teaches bodo language a little bit. And I recommend a channel called Traveling Alfred, he's a bodo KZbin who makes vlogs, I think currently he is traveling in Cambodia. In this channel he talks in English. He has another channel "Boroni Alfred" where he speaks in Bodo, but you won't be able to understand if you don't know the language. Also you can actually find videos of Bodo language and Kokborok(Tripuri language) in KZbin
@o0...9572 жыл бұрын
@@cobidbeksin5200 Yeah there aren't any major ones. But I think it should still be represented. The Phake and Khamti people seems to be preserving their language well. Ahom is undergoing revival. Khamyang might be the most endangered.

The 'w' in those words depicts the sound of vowel 'ɯ' in IPA(International Phonetic Alphabet). And this vowel 'ɯ' sound is one of the things that most non-Bodo speakers get wrong when they try to speak Bodo. So unlike in Hindi ओ is pronounced ɯ(note that it's not the English w pronounciation) and औ is pronounced as ɯu. Similarly ऐ is pronounced as ɯi. If any of the languages you speak doesn't have this sound it might as well be inaudible to you.

Sanskrit numbers are closest to Russian of these languages: 2 - dva in russian and dve in Sanskrit. But dve in russian is feminine! Just like "ogon' " is fire in Russian in the singular. And "ogni" (we say "agni") in the plural. In Sanskrit fire is agni 3 - tri in russian and trini in Sanskrit.. 4 - chetyre in russian. Catvari in Sanskrit 10 - desyat' in russian. Dasa in Sanskrit But the Lithuanian and Latvian numbers are even closer to Sanskrit! 8 - vosem' in Russian (osam in Serbo-Croatian. Osem in Bulgarian). Astoni in Lithuanian. And asta in Sanskrit etc

Bengal and Pakistan used to be part of india and technically are still part of india, so their languages could be included in the list too
