I’m so very sorry for any of you guys and gals loss of your doggies. Yorkers are adorable, I have only had Standard Poidles and raised one litter with their mom my beautiful Fifi. She died suddenly in one hour with stomach turning and she was 26 yrs old do ER Doctor said thebdyrgery would be too hard on her do I held her in my arms speaking French to her which she loved , telling her how I loved her and thanked her for being my everything to me. I thought I would die from grief and since she died only 4 months the grief will still come and doubles me over with such internal pain. I believe they are all out there waiting for us as all dogs are truly made to be mans best friend while we are living and will face our last breath as they have. You will survive as that is what they would want and expect from you. Peace to you , Mimi

You're wrong there's no cons to having a Yorkie. The best breed of dogs, they are very smart. We have been blessed to now have our fourth Yorkie, he is a rescue dog. Our last little guy was the best dog in the world, he was a 4 lb. tea cup and became my best friend as my beautiful wife of 35yrs. says. Everyone says that we were joined at the hip, his name was Dylan, he was my companion. He took care of me since I'm terminal and he was dealing with his own issues, he died just before 10 years young. I cry everyday, I think of him all the time. All dogs need to be trained. Yorkies are prone to have problems with their teeth, give them a nylabone when they're young, again it's all about training them. Take them for a car ride and get them to like it when they're small and they'll love it, just like taking them for a walk or you can train them to bark their head off or not bark at all. Same thing with brushing your hair or taking them to the groomers if you can't do it yourself get them to like it. I wasn't coming down on you but when you have Yorkies in 35 yrs, you are blessed, they are truly an amazing dog. God bless you and enjoy your baby. 😇🙏

Toto was me and my wife's entire world but sadly, we had him put down December 9 2023 at 15.6 years of age. Over the years he developed numerous health issues and we spent thousands keeping him well. We never fed him people food of any kind. I made the horrible mistake of giving him a bite of pizza crust and he got sick as hell when he was very young. We bought him a very nice casket and filled it with his toys, food bowl and covered him with his favorite blanket. We plan to put him in an above ground Mausoleum and not in a cold dark hole. We had a Yorkie that would've been 17 years in August. We had to help him cross the bridge 6 weeks ago because of inoperable bladder cancer 😢. I agree with just about everything you said but the barking one. We moved to a house that's kind of in an rural area. Bentley would sometimes bark his head off out of nowhere but we thought it was because he was getting dementia or something to do with old age. But a couple of days after he passed, we had mice problems, and a few days ago, we found small snakes inside the house. We never had that problem before, since we moved to our house about 3 years ago. It turned out that maybe Bentley was deterring them by barking, or just his mere presence, which makes sense since Yorkies were bred to be ratters. It feels unreal that he's gone. We really miss our boy 💔.

My Yorkie is very lovable, energetic , affectionate and smart. He did bark a lot as a pup but I taught him to be quiet unless there is a stranger at the door. This breed loves to run and excercise. You nailed it on this list! I feel like they are hard to train because (unlike any other dog i have ever met) they just dont give af about food. Anything that I have taught Spartacus, he has learned to do out of love for me. And boy is he a lover - most affectionate, needy, jealous! dog ever. The 3 negative things i thought you missed are: 1) their hair grows into their eyes (maybe that was covered under eye boogers). I have to trim his eyes at least weekly. 2) they are often hypoglycemic. Sparty would get very lethargic and my vet told me its super common; i actually give him small amounts of candy or apple jacks daily. And 3) they are extremely prone to choking. No rawhides jerky or even very soft bones or bigger treats allowed and never put anything except a very loose collar around their neck even when grooming. Really goos job on the overview - you nailed Yorky 'issues'! But they are so worth it. BEST SMALL DOGS EVER (that have no idea they are small)!!
@confucius28334 жыл бұрын
The small bladder is no joke. I had one for a little bit while I found him a home, and peed like there was no tomorrow. I didn’t know anything about yorkies and I thought there was something wrong with him. When I googled that situation, that’s when I learned that they are pee machines. He would pee non-stop from the corner straight down the block to mark. It was crazy how much pee would come out of that little dog. I’ve never seen a dog do that. He would hop on 3 legs while he peed non-stop down the street like it was nothing.

I've had dogs my whole life and I'm old btw. I've owned many different breeds and I proudly claim yorkies as the best breed I've ever owned!!! I'm currently owned by #5 & 6. They're both female one will be 15 in June and the other just turned 9. They love everyone and everything! Mia, the older ADORES well behaved children. They both swear that everyone that knocks at the door is a cereal killer. And Mia is also very noise sensitive i.e. timers, alarms etc. They love to travel both by plane or car. And they LOVE VEGGIES. I encourage all of you to introduce your yorks to some good fresh veg...baby carrots, green beans, crunchy healthy and great for their guns, teeth and breath. Good digestive system regulator also I give my girls a little pumpkin for occasional tummy issues and rather than waste an entire can, I just put the rest in an ice cube tray until frozen then keep them in a freezer bag for future needs. Love my girls... they are just the lovinest things on earth great for apartments and old people LoL ❤️💯

My little guy Yorkie, Buster Boo, is really nothing like that. He is very affectionate always. Loves being with me. Very food driven (not at all picky) so he was so easy to train. He can sit, lay, roll over and when i point my finger at him and say "BanG!" he falls over like I shot him. He potty trained in about 2 weeks time. Now when he wants out he just bumps his hanging bell on the door but he only really goes out 3-4 times a day. He almost never barks and he is such a happy little guy. Just brightens my days up. He wasn't raised around my grandchildren but I taught them to be easy and sweet with him and he warmed right up to them. He is truly the sweetest little thing.

We were supremely lucky to have our senior Yorkie mix rescue find us! Sir Charles, AKA Charlie loves to be loved, brushed and prefers being in a lap over everyhwhere else. He LOVES the car and wants to drive. He loves all people and all other dogs. He has very few teeth after a dental by the rescue organization but eats like a champ. He's a big snorter, especially when playing fetch. We have a 15 year old rescue beagle who ignores other dogs. I'd love to have three more, but hub says no despite being absolutely in love with the lil fluffball! He only barks when he plays. He's a doll!

My 10 year old Yorkie hardly ever does anything wrong. He is pretty quiet and is friendly to new people. He has his own walk through doors so he can go outside into his caged- in area any time he wants. He does like to run after other dogs but I can call him back or loudly whistle him to return. Having his teeth cleaned costs close to $500 with these new vets that think they are working on a child. His eyes do get funky and sometimes a turd gets hung up on his butt hair. Best dog I ever had.

I lost my baby (bean) nov 10th. He was the best & he changed everything 4me. Super intelligent, opened his own presents, helped pull weeds in my garden w/his teeth, gave hugs & was the coolest/cutest dog. I miss him terribly. I’ve Never felt pain/ loss like this & I’ve lost friends & fam. The honking/reverse sneeze is bc yorkies are prone to tracheal collapse. Its more common in smaller breeds & some are more susceptible than others. It can b serious & progressive if lifestyle & habits aren’t adjusted to help keep it under wraps. It’s nothing to ignore & can get bad if ur not careful. Yorkies are the best & do the quirkiest things. Love on ur fur-baby’s guys ! They’re not w/us for very long. If only I could turn back Time! Our Yorkie was a stray, but she always wants attention and needs to be in my lap or laying right beside my husband at his feet. She loves to socialize with other dogs, no matter what size, and she can attack a snake, a mouse, or even a bird, in less than a second and kill it. And she is so smart. She can read our emotions. She barks at our cats to separate them when they are fighting. Too funny. She plays chase with the cats.

Hey Jas I’m looking at your video as I’m writing this. My mom, sisters and myself all have yorkie. Everything you are describing besides not getting alone with kids my family has experience. I on the other hand has not experienced anything besides the goose sound my dog makes from time to time. I have trained my yorkie to be a service Animal, so I don’t experience the bad behavior that you and my family experience. I take my dog everywhere I go, on plains buses and we have been on a cruise with other services dogs with no problem. With any dog it’s not the dog it’s the humans. Humans treat there animals as if they are humans when they are not. If you treat them like a animal they will respect you and anyone that you bring around them because they will know for instance (your kids) that they are not before them in the pecking order. That is the animals way of living in a family. If you let the dog feel like they are above a human they will act that way. I don’t use potty pad but my mom do and her yorkie are not house trained but she think they are. When she take them over my sister home they pee all over there home and when she takes them to a store (which she’s not supposed too) they pee in there. If your dog is trained they won’t use the bathroom in doors. Now saying that you have to be vigilant with yorkie because like you said they have small bladder so your trained dog will tell you that it need to go out. Like most animals they have a internal clock and they will want to go out about the same time (EVERYDAY) like clockwork which is good because that’s what you trained them to do. I will say this I got my dog (Sparkle) at 7 week I went right into training. This is what I did hopefully this will help you with your next yorkie and some of your viewers as well. The biggest thing is believe it or not is whenever you go potty take your dog outside right after (every time). Another thing what is really important is if you are mot able yo pay attention to you puppy keep them in there cage. It’s not hurting them. But if you are not playing with them DONT LET THEM HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR HOME!!! Never give them that because they have not earned that yet. But if you follow what I’m sharing you can have your puppy housebroken in 3 weeks max, my dog was trained in 2 weeks. Now understand that I was not working at that time so it was easy to spend the time but it worked. Sparkle will let me know that she need to potty and if I’m on the couch sleeping she will go to my wife and my wife will ask her outside and she will start barking then my wife will call me and say sparkle need to go outside and then she come back to me. Now the only thing that I wish was different was sparkle will not go outside with no one but me. So make sure you keep everyone in the family helping you with the potty training.

About the tearing and eye stains. I find if it’s not caused by hair getting in their eyes it’s because something in their environment is bothering their allergies it’s usually the food or treats being fed but it can be something outside. Great video! I agree with all of it, definitely the love you/ leave you part! Also the fact that they are picky eaters.. oh man! My Freddy is a hard case! The ‘reverse sneezing’ is because their noses are so small, they can get blocked easily. I have a great tip for this; cover their nostrils with your fingers so they try to breathe and unblock their nose at the same time.
