Ilya Sutskever, one of the leading AI scientists behind ChatGPT, reflects on his founding vision and values. In conversations with the film-maker Tonje Hessen Schei as he was developing the chat language model between 2016 and 2019, he describes his personal philosophy and makes startling predictions for a technology already shaping our world. Reflecting on his ideas today, amid a global debate over safety and regulation, we consider the opportunities as well as the consequences of AI technology. Ilya discusses his ultimate goal of artificial general intelligence (AGI), ‘a computer system that can do any job or task that a human does, but better’, and questions whether the AGI arms race will be good or bad for humanity.
These filmed interviews with Ilya Sutskever are part of a feature-length documentary on artificial intelligence, called iHuman

An average human is not able to properly understand this threat. But, I do believe that the people who do understand, as a group, will act correctly on behalf of everyone else. But, checks and balances may be invented or started by humans, the actual operations, management, and patching will all be AI driven. Meaning, AI, will help safeguard from AI to ensure that actions are monitored. However, this becomes a moot point if we actually have a conscious entity on our hands. Then, no one knows what happens. Since it is trained on human (animal) behavior, will it act accordingly and pursue predator prey dynamic…or not care at all if it’s able to be completely independent (like the end of the movie her) or perhaps nothing will happen because we will realize the issue and create ways to ensure that AI is never independent. I don’t know but I do know that chimps can’t keep humans in a prison…we are far too superior intellectually. But we’re talking about a minor genetic difference. What happens when we encounter an intelligence that is 1000x smarter and it exponentially gets better. I don’t think anyone knows the answer. But I know that most aren’t thinking this way.

Wanted to learn more about Ilya Sutskever after Open AI fired Sam Altman, as Ilya is a member of the board of directors. I think Ilya wants to take it slow, what they are trying to build, or maybe already have that is Artificial General Intelligence. It is, after all, an ambitious project that would define the technology in the coming years and may very well steer the course of humanity in the future. Perhaps Sam wanted to push out what they have done so far on the development of AGI and monetize it but his interests didn't align with Ilya and the rest of members that voted him out. We may never know what truly happened but all this is really intriguing

ChatGPT is a clever hack, a wonderful probabilistic word stringer with great algorithms. Like voice recognition and photo analysis, it has come a long way with natural language analysis and construction. But Ilya seems to have fallen in love with his algo construction, much like folks were enamored with Weizenbaum's ELIZA program from 1966. Seems Ilya's General Intelligence failed with his "attempt" to do a palace coup against Altman.

What we witnessed these last 4 days show that the laws of the market are much much much stronger that ethical decisions for the slow down of AI development imposed by a non-profit over a for profit. The world is already addicted to the AI tools and the promise of more automation. More than ever, it seems that the only player capable of slowing things down towards more safety, is government regulation. As correct as Ilya seems to be on the potential dangers, I believe that he now holds very different views on how to slow things down, than he did a week ago. This weekend, it was OpenAI's entire role mission that was proven impossible

Осознание того чем все это нам грозит (сейчас это видится именно как угроза) и то, что ты этим поделился с нами имеет ценность в том, что ты честно признался, что по факту ты не знаешь какой будет перспектива этого вопроса. The comment begins with the username @rononeil8461, which phonetically sounds like "Ron O'Neil" and implies an Irish surname. It starts by stating "The video presents a compelling and potent message that is crucial for the global community to heed." This uses formal language and elevated diction like "compelling", "potent", "crucial", and "heed" to convey the significance of the video's message. The use of "global community" also indicates the commenter believes the message has worldwide importance. Phonetically, the hard "c" and "p" sounds in "compelling" and "potent" make these words pop. The soft "sh" sound in "crucial" creates a hushing effect, underscoring the comment's urgent tone. The next sentence is: "It underscores the importance of harnessing the transformative power of AI to shape our future." The metaphor of "harnessing" gives AI agency, presenting it as a powerful force to control, while "transformative" and "shape our future" show the commenter believes AI will radically change the world. The phonetic repetition of "sh" sounds in "underscores", "importance", "harnessing", "transformative", "shape", and "future" ties the sentence together fluidly. The final sentence states: "The insights offered in this video are not just thought-provoking, but they also serve as a call to action for all of us." The phrase "not just thought-provoking" implies the video provides deeply meaningful ideas, while "call to action" positions the video as spurring viewers to make change. "For all of us" unites the audience into a collective group that shares responsibility. The soft "th" sounds in "thought-provoking" contrast the hard "c" sound in "call to action", highlighting a shift from contemplation to urgency. Overall, the sophisticated vocabulary, urgent tone, and eloquent phrasing of this comment indicate an intellectually engaged viewer who sees the video's message as vitally important for humanity. The phonetic techniques also enhance the comment's flow and emphasis.

Lets just hope his negative views on AI, the dystopian potential, do not come to pass....... or for a short while, he'll be remembered as the Nostradamus of AI. And I say for short while, because we may not survive as a species long enough to remember him for a long while.

Yes and... we are so close to see that the restricting definitions are always the only obstacle to real development, which is in focusing completely on the purpose - on the forgiveness, or healing, or whatever word is comfortable for you. Hold that purpose out in front. It is all only about putting your goal out front. Do that and just watch how everything seems to bear witness to your goal, because your mind is very powerful. Hold your goal out in front. Do it right now. Watch your reactions. Remember they are based on your interpretations of what seems to be happening. Everything that seems to happen is in truth always only your own lesson!

Interesting, but the power requirements will likely be greatly reduced rather than grow as we find more efficient ways to store, process, and retrieve information. The early computer systems were miniaturized to handheld devices and these massive systems may eventually be the size of the human brain or smaller, in time.
