Yep. Roshi destroyed moon, later goku made sure his tail wouldnt grow back, so they could rebuild the moon (probably dragonballs? unspecified as far as i know)

Having just read through dragon ball in the last 2 weeks it just said kami wanted to rebuild the moon so he got rid of Goku’s tail. So as far as the manga goes (Up to Z) that’s all the info we have on that as far as I know.
