"that blues vibe" And this is why "cultural appropriation" is such a BS concept, it's cultural appreciation! 50-60 years ago some white kids fell in love with the Blues and here we all are now enjoying the results of that cultural exchange.
@J972M2 жыл бұрын
It's appropriation because the originators are not credited socially or financially. How Elvis who was a pirate at worst and a cover artist at best can be called the king of rock n roll is cultural appropriation. When white female vloggers are given social/financial credit for "inventing" dreads or cornrows that's appropriation. That's not to say any white talent mimicking an afro-centric style is appropriation. The Allman Brothers specifically have always given credit to B.B King & others who inspired them. Not to mention they made great contributions to the art. THAT is *appreciation* .

Music evolves. Early blues contains pieces of Irish, Italian and Romanian influences. The blues inspired Janis, Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, George Harrison and many more. SRV was mentored by Albert King and John Lee Hooker. Each region had their own blues style, no one owned it. Everyone put their own spin on it. If you've ever watched a group of musicians vamping the blues (think Sweet Home Chicago), each will interpret their own unique riffs.

Nope, It is not soul it is traditional blues which infected them both at a early age. Confusing soul with blues can cause a fight in the wrong neighborhood and decade. Now Duane was a hardcore blues freak while Greg was a big rock fan but loved the blues and the roots connection of rock. once signed I think I heard they were told to label themselves as Rock when interviewed in public. This is typical as to not side with a style in a period that was not supportive of Whites being interested in anything Black. They had the Elvis season just 9 years earlier and then the whole Little Richard vs Pat Boone about 7 years earlier.

Gregg (vocal) wrote this song, at around 20. All the members are Masters and got together with jazz, R & B, blues, and country influences. Gregg is the best white blues singer in many people's thoughts and he and the band credit the masters who came before them. The 60 and 70's were about experimental time in music. Allman Bros. started "southern rock" and it's still influencing today. After decades of singing, Gregg earned his due for singing. * Vocal & B3 Hammond organ = Gregg Allman. Drums: Butch Trucks & Jaimoe Johanson. Bass : Berry Oakley. Lead/slide: Duane Allman. Lead : Dickey Betts. Many albums and iterations of their music. Brah, you listening to the dudes who started the "southern rock" sound! These dudes could throw it down. Greg Allman just may be one of the best guitar players EVER! Great pick, great reaction. I had the privilege of having the same home town as the Allman Bros. I have had family sing and play with them in the early days. Just another great product of the muscle shoals sound!

Awesome reaction! You should check out “One Way Out “ by them. It’s a thumper! Greg was lead vocals and keyboards. His brother Dwayne was one lead guitar and Dickey Betts was the other. The names of the rest of the band I don’t know, but they had 2 drummers. I just know they were awesome!

Barry Oakley on Bass, Butch Trucks on Drums, Jai Johanny Johansen on Drums. Sadly, Duane died in a motorcycle accident in Oct. of 71. One year later, Barry died in another motorcycle crash. I believe the 2 crashes happened within a mile of each other. We were definitely robbed of a lot of great music.

There've been many iterations of the band, lots of faces have come, and gone. The core: Greg & Duane Allman, Greg on hammond organ and piano lead vocals, Duane & Dickey Betts sharing lead & Duane playing slide guitar Berry Oakley on bass guitar (also killed in a motorcycle accident) Butch Trucks and"Jaimoe" Johnny Jamieson, on drums (yes 2 drummers) Dickey Betts on second lead guitar, and vocals.

Greg Allman lead singer and Hammond B3 organ and brother Duane on lead. Been listening to this since the late 60's. The live album that you should listen to is "Live At The Fillmore East." Another good album of theirs is titled "Eat A Peach."

Back in my earlier days, in N’Awlins on Tchoupitoulas Street there was a music venue called the “Warehouse” and that’s exactly what it was. It could hold over 3,000 music lovers and every week it featured the absolute best musical groups. For $5 you could hear the Allman Brothers Band who were almost a “house band” with their regular performances there. These guys rocked the Warehouse every night they played to a packed house. It’s pretty exciting to see another generation appreciate the great artists like the Allman Brothers Band. I think my generation was blessed with some of the greatest music ever played in America. Glad to see your enthusiasm for the Allman Brothers. Peace!

I really appreciate channels like Your Adogg. I'm 57 and grew up listening to these songs in Jr. and Sr. High. Radio stations were still playing these songs occasionally in the late '70's and early '80's. I have not heard some of these songs in a long, long while. Reaction channels take me back to when I was young and this music was awesome to hear for the first time. I'm glad that you enjoyed this song, the Allman Bros. band hit the nail on the head with their music.

No question about that. Some of the greatest jams ever recorded. My personal favorite is "You don't love me". It is one whole side and has some of Duanes greatest slide work. I had the privilege of hearing them live at Florida Presbytrian College, now Eckerd College before they got big. They played on the back of a flatbed truck. When they took breaks, which wasn't often, the band and the roadies went through the crowd with cigar boxes asking, "spare change". They played until around 3:00 in the morning. Best concert I ever went to
