I discovered Ofra Haza thanks to this song being released as a single in the west in 1988 after it was sampled on Eric B. & Rakim's 'Paid in Full' - I bought both of these 7'' singles back in the day, and they remain a treasured part of my vinyl collection x I have to say I love Ofra's open mind, open heart, and amazing creativity. It is such a tragedy that she left us at the age of 42. xx

I first heard Im Nin'Alu by Ofra in 2014, many things were happening at this time, I fell in love with this song and Ofra's voice and this carried me through. My wife of 26 years told me our marriage was over and shortly after that my country was betrayed and failed to acheive independence. The things in life I was so passionate about just suddenly died, I was so lost and lonely. I started going to gym to avoid going home and being in the same place as my (ex) wife. I was pretty unfit and was losing weight dramatically due to stress, perversely this made me a much healthier person. I would play Im Nin'Alu in the car then I would go into the gym and work so many years of unhappiness off me. Since then I have listened to many of Ofra's songs, such a shame she passed so young. But Im Nin'Alu helped save me and gave me strength to see some light and perhaps something beautiful could happen in the future at a time I felt I was the loneliest man on earth. Seven years on, I still listen and am grateful to Ofra and her wonderful voice, I am happy and have a wonderful partner and an amazing step daughter and three sons. Life has been very good to me even when I didn't see and appreciate what I had. If the doors are locked, if there is no mercy left in your life. The gates of heaven will never be barred. I held on to that for dear life during my darkest times. Thank you Ofra, thank you so very much for helping me to get through.

I first heard her in I think 1983 or 84. I was 11 or 12. There is a local college Station here in Milwaukee called WMSE that even today, plays different genres of music at different times a day with only student Djays choosing the music. I was into a lot of the punk and new wave stuff and the Djay that did that program also loved Ofra Haza and mixed her in with her rotation despite genre. I love that station. Even to this very day its like the wild wild west of radio stations. They just play whatever they want no matter how unknown or eclectic it is and regardless of whether the artist even has a label. If the Djay likes it, it gets played. I always loved Ofra Haza's voice and as I've gotten older, I have a deeper appreciation for how truly great of an artist she was. RIP gone, never forgotten.

I was riding in a convertible Mustang with a guy I had just met, we were speeding at about 3am down a back road, no one else on the road, he took a turn too fast and the car slid into a 360 degree spinout while there was a remix version of this song blasting. The wind, the adrenaline, the guy, the car, the MUSIC! When the car stopped spinning, I excitedly yelled "Who is singing this song!?" He said"Ofra Haza!" and we took off again like a bat out of Hell! I was instantly hooked forever on Ofra after that. It was one of those crystalline memories that stay vivid with you for a lifetime.
