I increased a semi detached front back and sides with conservatory from £24 to £33 as it takes me a while (awkward to clean that glass roof). Straight away her face dropped and she asked why. I explained the costs and time it takes which is about 1hr and she came back with the response that her friends window cleaner does hers, same size apparently, for £16. She kept me on still but if I lost the job I wouldn’t be sad.

Cracking video, pisses me off so much when other cleaners don't charge enough, I recently saw a flyer in our local chippy right next to mine, and the guy was offering window cleaning from £5 and gutter cleaning from £20, absolutely ridiculous. Must say though that his flyer looked very cheap next to my professional looking one but it pissed me off so much. Pleased it's not just me
@AMindInOverdrive4 жыл бұрын
Yeah nice points here. This is why putting "Professional Service" and other stuff like "Fully Insured" in big letters on there is worthwhile ;-) Because when yours is next to his, now people will see that he is NOT a professional service, and likely not insured if he does any damage to their property. Also, if he sees that on there, he will be embarrassed to put his crappy flyer next to yours ;-)

You certainly hit the nail on the head Darren. I put my prices up and a couple to people who I least expected wouldn't accept a price moaned and winged and wouldn't accept an increase was necessarily justified. ..All I can say it's human nature to moan and feel a little aggrieved at price rises. No one likes prices rises. It's human nature.... But everything has gone up. Fuel, insurance's, materials etc etc. So price rises are necessary and if a customer can't see and appreciate that ... Get rid. End of!

Put half of my customers up a fiver each last year and the other half a fiver each the beginning of this year. Thought I may lose a customer on both occasions but haven't lost a single one. For the hassle they'd have to go through and find a new (and satisfactory) window cleaner, £5 price rise isn't a lot. One guy I spoke to hasn't changed his prices in 10 years........

I'm in the process of informing my customers right now of a price rise starting next month. I've just bumped up one customer from £6 a month (I know it's crap...I'm in the North East) to £8 a month. Her response...'that's extortionate!' She still didn't cancel but that's the typical mentality.
@rackopablos6 жыл бұрын
deltafit you have to put them straight from the off.. nowadays for every £10 you earn £2.90 is going on income tax and NI payments plus you have fuel and expenses. So you're left with £6.50 maybe from each £10 priced. That's the way I look at it. Good luck.

Hi Darren, big fan of your videos, ive a question if you don't mind, How do you calculate Travel expenses too and from a job, as an example, a job is 20 miles from your house, so a round trip of 40 miles, how do you calculate the extra cost to factor in to the customers bill. Best regards Larry
@Darren-Green6 жыл бұрын
Laurence Oflaherty I don't really have this issue. I only work around 10-12 miles max but don't drive that far for 1 job. Always 1st job of day furthest from home and then work my way back. So in short I only price based on time to do the job not travel.

Thank you for you input Geoff. I'm sorry to hear that you're so put off by my attitude - I'm sure you'd be even more put off if I asked you to work for me for less than minimum wage and provide all your own equipment and skills. (no more than this potential customer did) Perhaps if I had a more humble attitude, you'd be more inclined to give me a chance? The only problem with that, is from your brief assessment of me I'm pretty sure you wouldn't fit our customer profile anyway. Thank you however for your valued opinion and good luck with any tradespeople you decide to hire in the future, I hope you can find some that will fit your financially challenged perspective of peoples worth.
