A hell of a debut!! Dreamcatcher is the only K-Pop group that has stayed with their rock/metal sound in the industry, called The face of rock in K-pop by Rolling Stones. Dreamcatcher doesn’t miss at any single area, their choreos are super hard (normally what u would see on a boy group but with the charms of a girl group) and Chase Me has 200 BPM, imagine dancing to that! (They have even done x2 speed challenges, they’re crazy) The vocals are super polished and they even implement lots of spicy backing vocals. In newer tracks you’ll see the girls harmonizing with each other, which other groups rarely do. In terms of storyline, Dreamcatcher debuted with a horror concept called Nightmare where each girl represents a phobia and they mess with this investigator/nightmare hunter. Believe it or not, they used to be a bubble gum pinky girl group called MINX but redebuted as that concept didn’t stand out. Nightmare definitely did. With their J-rock sound and original concept with a continuous storyline, they gained the hearts of many fans. Their fandom name is Insomnia and we’re happy to join you through your journey!! "Chase me" was their debut, released on January 13th (a Friday), 2017. It must have been nerve-wrecking for the members, re-debuting with a genre that is not popular in Korea after Minx failed. (5 of them were Minx before.) But they already doubled their sales with this. And they stuck with the Rock/Metal vibe until today, now selling 50 times the albums than Minx did. This is the start of the Nightmare arc, which spans 6 MVs and 1 Japanese release. They are Nightmares here, and the Nightmare hunter is trying to dispel them - how that turns out is shown in the next one, Good Night. Remember the ending here for when you react to Good Night!

Was waiting for dreamcatcher. Missed your “vision” reaction. Watched it first. Another one of my favorite bands i discovered during covid. Did see them live last year. Seven gorgeous, funny and talented women with great singing and dancing. Lots of their songs have a rock or even a little metal sound. Great live and very devoted to their fans. Dreamcatcher never miss. They also have many other colors which you will discover when you get into their album B-sides and their many covers, but the title tracks are always bangers. I always envy people who fall down the rabbit hole for the first time. You have so much great music ahead. Jiu, Dreamcatcher's leader, is called the charisma bunny so following her into the Dreamworld is an amazing journey.

You are in for a ride . The girls are very talented and they put out some amazing music that you can listen to in any mood you are in aka they are very versatile.Some of their B sides of the albums are a title track material so when you finish the title tracks i recommend you to check that out.They are very underrated but im glad the scene is starting to pay atention to them more and more they put a lot of effort into this and it really shows their dance choreos are always amazing aswell and they are very funny and kind people.

Thanks for reacting to Dreamcatcher. As you know by now they're not an ordinary K-pop girl group. They're one of a kind. We (InSomnia) are always thrilled to guide new fans into the fandom. So you might find a long comment like this one in your journey. As a starter, I recommend you to just enjoy the music to the fullest. Yeah some might tell you that there's a lore in every MVs but for me personally you should just enjoy the music cause you can always depend on some of us who will explain about the storyline or just watch it again later. No worries. I like that you're starting it back from their debut. So you can move your way up to the latest comeback also can see how their sound evolved.This was back in the year of 2017 but they're already producing great songs. Next stop is 'Goodnight' I think probably my fav from the nightmare series.

They are the most talented 7 ladies group you can ever found. Really they are the best, literally all 7 vocalists, 7 rappers & 7 dancers that can perform live better than their recording every time. Don't stop at their title tracks as their B-sides are mostly title track worthy. In fact, many of my favorite are from their B-sides such as Black or White, Wind Blows, Break the Wall, Propose etc

Dreamcatcher have their own Arc their universe, or we just called it DeukaeVerse (DC Universe, not to confuse with DC comic universe 🤣🤣). 'Deukae' is equivalent to letter 'DC', derived from 'Deu Rim Kae Chyeo', Korean pronunciation for DreamCatcher word. So far, we have 3 Main Arc: The Nightmare Series, Dystopia Trilogy & Apocalypse Trilogy. "Chase Me' is the first track in 'The Nightmare Series' and it is Dreamcatcher's debut song. There's 7 songs all together in The Nightmare Series including their Japanese Track as an alternate ending for the series. Song in order: Chase Me, Good Night, Fly High (prequel), You And I, What, Piri (ending) and Breaking Out (Japanese track/ alternate ending).

Just a few things that I'm not sure other InSomnia have pointed out: The ending to Chase Me is the beginning to Good Night, the sequel to this song. The ladies are well known for really hard and complex choreography that boy groups are mainly known for. In the beginning you see the Happy Face entertainment logo, it will end after Piri I believe, the girls were getting so popular that the company decided to just rename the company DreamCatcher Company, DCC for short. Non-DreamCatcher material, I hope you check out "Pixy". They dabbled in horror elements as well and make really good music. They too are from a smaller/unknown company.

To help out with your understanding of The Nightmare Series: JiU has the fear/nightmare of "Being chased by someone". Mostly she is chased by herself or by the spider JiU has the motive of her mirror image that is chasing her she sees herself for the first time in 'Fly High' and is shocked to see her Doppelganger, and runs away Later in Piri she sees herself again duplicated and is shocked about this The mv even ends with her SuA as the fear/nightmare of "Being restraint" The most significant moment we see her being restraint is in 'Goodnight' when she was captured by tree branches. Siyeon's fear/nightmare is "Claustrophobia" that means she has the fear she get's locked up in a tight room where she can't breathe freely the only prominent moment we saw this in the MVs was in 'Breaking out' Handong's fear/nightmare is "Scopophobia" which means she is afraid of being stared at Handong is staring at the camera very aggressively during the 'Chase me' MV and in the 'Goodnight' mv she stares at the man through the mirror and a bunch of eyes appear; this is a common kind of scopophobia (that people imagine eyes watching them) Yooyheon as the fear/nightmare of "Being lost in an unknown place" In 'Goodnight' Yoohyeon and Siyeon are running through the forest and seem very disoriented really important point is that Yoohyeon is the only one that get's left alone in 'You and I' she got left behind in an unknown place and is still alone in the 'What' MV Dami has the fear/nightmare of "Oulinophobia/Agliophobia"which can be described as the fear of getting hurt Dami is the only one where we get no specific image of her fear in the mvs but the only way that could imply Dami getting hurt are the "Summoning Ceremonies" or a kind of "Voodoo magic" these scenes always occur with her in the early mvs In 'Chase me' Dami is the only one that lies down in the summoning circle and we see a doll appearing that lies the exact way like Dami when people get compared with dolls or a certain doll serves as representative for a person, voodoo magic is often implied. That means when something happens to the doll, the same happens to the human the doll is representing And most of the time Voodoo dolls are used to hurt a person. That implies this Voodoo ceremony is representing Dami's fear of getting hurt. Two other scenes of Dami involved in a magic ceremony happen in 'Goodnight' and in 'Fly High' Gahyeon has the fear/nightmare of "Falling" There is only one scene in which we see Gahyeon falling through a dark and empty space in 'Goodnight

They tackled issues about horror, betrayal, sacrifice, self esteem, online bullying, global warming, war, and environmental protection, which is a rare in the industry let alone in a girl groups category... dreamcatcher \:D/ oh humble beginnings. just a brief history on them. dreamcatcher is actually a second chance to 'catch' their 'dreams' of becoming singers. before they were dreamcatcher, 5 of the 7 members were part of a failed grouped who did stereotypical kpop bubblegum songs or essentially what was expected from a kpop girl group. being from a small company with limited resources, they couldn't compete and stand out against bigger labels. in any other case, this would have been the end because there are no second chances in kpop but their story much like their music is so anti-kpop. they are a true underdog story that started from rock bottom with so many forces going against them. their ceo as well as a few of their members were into rock/metal but this genre was very unpopular in korea. so instead of doing what everyone expected, they were to make music and succeed or fail their way, much of it being rock/metal influenced. that's what the song chase me is essentially about. maintaining self identity is a recurring theme in their discography so chase me is saying to be yourself even if it's against popular opinion and make enough noise so everyone else will eventually have to follow you.

First of all, love your DC reactions. Second of all, as an avide InSomnia ( pretty sure my fellow Somnias will say the same ) i would definitely recommend you ( to get the full genuine Dreamcatcher experience ) to watch the MVs in order / eras. There is a story line in the MVs. The Nightmare Series : - Chase Me - Good Night - Fly High ( Prequel and Lore ) - You and I - What - Piri ( end of Nightmare series ) - Breaking Out ( Japanese release and Alternate Ending to the Nightmare Series. ) Then you have Deja Vu ( Litteraly the Holy Grail of Dreamcatcher ) and R.O.S.E. Blue which are single and Game collabs. After that comes the Dystopian/Dystopia series. - Scream - Boca - Odd Eye If i remember correctly i think its BEcause ( single ) that comes after but i could be mistaken in the order of its release. And last but not least comes the Apocalypse trilogy - Maison - Vision - Bon Voyage. There is also the Japanese releases Endless Night, No More and i think Eclipse or maybe its the name of the EP, with the song Don't Light My Fire. All of these JP release are very much more on the J-Rock / Metal side of things.

I was very lucky/unlucky in that they were my first kpop group. I listened to them, loved them, then thought: well, I like them, so I guess I'll see what else kpop has to offer! I can't get over how boring every other girl group was in comparison when I went looking. I haven't seen another female kpop group with the same level of vocal AND dance complexity.

That's how it went with me too. Been listening to Dreamcatcher for almost 4 years. "Piri" and "Scream" were my first K-Pop songs. Since then almost exclusively this group. There are exceptions (for example: Mamamoo, G-Idle, Everglow, Aespa, PIXY and a few others), but then only with some titles. Some also a matter of taste. But there is hardly anything comparable to Dreamcatcher live in the girl groups.

Good Night finishes this story, the the next two videos, Fly High and You & I, will show how they went from normal girls at boarding school to bored spirits messing with this guy. Fun Fact 12: in an industry riddled with lip syncing they ALL can sing. The rapper sings, the dancer sings, and the vocal leaders can SING. You may or may not enjoy Maroon 5, Little Mix, Sean Mendes, etc. but Dreamcatcher steals covers too.
