Jackson was not involved in writing the parody. Al writes all the parodies himself from ideas he came up with, with one exception "Like a Surgeon" which Maddonna actually suggested to him.

Not everybody. He always get's permission to use peoples music, obviously, but also their blessings, so I've heard. That's the reason Weird Al never did a Prince spoof, Prince wouldn't allow his music to be spoofed. The fact that Weird Al did so many Michael Jackson is a both a testiment to the prolific nature of his music, and MJ's appreciation for Weird Al's work.

White and Nerdy is possibly his best work. I've been a fan since the Dr. Dimento days, and saw his breakout hit "Another One Rides the Bus" on local TV in Seattle with just an accordion when I was kid. Smells Like Nirvana would be a great one, since he saw the original a week or two ago.

The weird Al rabbit hole is deep. He is one of only a few artists to win a Grammy in four different decades. I saw him about ten years ago and he still performs "Fat" with the whole fat suit. One suggestion though--if the Weird Al you want to review is a parody of a pop hit, watch the pop hit first and then watch Al's parody. He also has a large collection of great original songs (One More Minute and You Don't Love Me anymore are great songs about one-sided love).

I'd heard that Michael Jackson was such a fan of Al Yankovic that not only did he invite Al's parodies, but he sent him one of the first records off the pressing lines for each of his albums so that Al was guaranteed to get it as soon as possible.

I worked alongside weird Al once in a recording studio. He was voice acting and I was recording dialogue takes for the director at a studio.

I was a huge fan of Michael Jackson since I was a kid. And he had a great sense of humor and liked Weird Al's music. Actually launched his career.
