My guess is the lvds connector issue (where you found it had been replaced before you got it) blew the gpu, probably fed the backlight voltage to the gpu.

The light on the screen of my imac a1418 was damaged after changing the ssd, I made the mistake of disconnecting the 2 cables from the screen with the imac on, after doing some tests I turned on the screen, I closed it with its adhesives and that's it It does not work anymore, which may be, I have not tried with another screen, it is possible that it burned, or changing the flex of the backlight would solve

I have the same issue, 2011 iMac 27inch, power on but no chime and no scene, it just stopped working one day and the iMac was hot at the time.
