They did a good job of hitting a lot of the key points of the original choreography. The original choreo from Brown Eyed Girls had to be toned down before the music shows would allow them to perform and the original MV was banned. DC did a great tribute and still made it less naughty.

They absolutely killed the sexy concept. This concept fits them so so well. If they decided to switch from their dark fantasy concept to a sexy concept, I wouldn’t complain even though I’d severely miss their dark fantasy concepts. And I just want to let you know that Gaycatcher goes beyond performances. It shocked me when I ran into those moments for the first time because I never see anything like that from most kpop groups. I later came to the conclusion that it was “just Dreamcatcher things” once I noticed how many moments happened and continue to happen.

Oh my god Im so glad you watched this, lol. You have no idea how badly this wrecked me, the original group were my first Kpop group and DC is my ult, now. The group that did the original song are the Brown Eyed Girls (BEG), and this song and their dance is one of the most famous dances in Kpop. The arms crossed and hip swing is called the 'Arrogance Dance', and gets a lot of homage in videos much like say, the Moonwalk will in US videos, that kind of iconic. Back when BEG premiered 'Abracadabra', it was controversial as fuuu and caused quite a stir, refusals to air it, ect. The whole sweet 'girls next door' image was the main GG thing in kpop back in late 2000's (When DC were all still teenagers), so when BEG busted this out with their leather clothing and that hip sway, heads exploded. Much like yours did! Then of course BEG is now one of the few groups from that era that still does things (the had a release within the last year) and everyone in South Korea knows this song. BEG would be a good 'old gen' group for you guys to watch, their videos are very contained stories and some of the early epic kind of things. Still poppy, but epic. Edited to add that you'll sometimes hear or see Insomnia say something like wanting DC to be like BEG and just do music forever.

Hmm, more research is needed. I watched both the MV and the performance version (both have over 30 mil views btw!). I think B.E.G. could be the sexiest but DC amplified their interaction with clearly having so much fun. That made the relay more gay for me. Although, the end of the regular MV... 😏

The Relay Dance version that DC released feels different and perhaps a bit sexier simply due to the fact that you can feel their friendship and personalities bleeding into the dance. Which gives it it's own pulse and personality and makes it better for me, personally.

Brown Eyed Girls who originally performed this song with this choreo are THE sexy idols in kpop, they debuted in 2006 and were called "adult idols". They chose and go all in with the sexy concept, one of the members once said it was a success if their MV or choreo were banned or restricted 😅 This song Abracadabra, with the hip dance was, and still is, absolutely ICONIC in Korea! If you liked it you should check them out, they're a really interesting group, and their solo career are also great, Miryo (the rapper) is still the most credited female artist in kpop and Gain is an amazing performer who is not afraid to talk about taboo topics like sexuality, sexual abuse, death,...
