This is an excellent video. It reminds me of a similar method I accidently created that have amazing results. Because I can never seem to be able to sleep on a plane, I decided to utilize a cross country flight as long haul manifestation meditation. It had sights, sounds, smells etc. I decided to use this one vibrant couple of seconds visualization the entire time. I was very committed to this but after a couple of hours I became sick to death of the repetition and decided to create a second one using a technique I had recently learned about but have never used called the lullaby method. You use a song or lullaby or television show theme song but replace the words with those about your manifestation. It sounds very cringe and strange but I am willing to try any method. I repeated it over and again until I got sick to death of it as well and reverted back to the first. I just went back and forth. The multiple senses of both of these visualizations reminds me of the image streaming taught in this video but the fact I would revert from one to the other reminds me of what I have learned from the Silva Method. Your consciousness usually knows when you are casually imagining something and then you revert back to the reality of the space you are in. By using two different visualizations for such an extended period I believe convinced my subconscious mind that one was imagination and the other real life. It doesn't matter which one because they both achieved the same result. When I got to my destination and was consumed with all I was doing I actually forgot about my manifestation but then it all unfolded precisely as I had envisioned with the same kind of people, happenings and even the time I used in my visualizations. I was concerned that using a second visualization would cancel out the other but instead everything included details of both, which also solidifies the fact this was no coincidence. What I had envisioned was so precise and unlikely that, even though I am a long time believer I was dumbfounded. I would tell anyone new to this that the secret to success is to persist long after it stops being fun or easy. It needs to be continual, persistent, seemingly unending so your subconscious eventually resigns to the fact of this new reality you have created. And instead of thinking that this is going to be hard, be excited that it is 100% real and will happen.

I used to be able to see things so vividly in my brain when I was a kid and almost completely lost the ability I cherished so much. I barely even dream anymore. I almost started to cry when all I could see was blackness during this exercise until you told us to latch onto anything we can find, like a star or any light. I noticed 1 small speck of light and followed it until more lights started showing. Then it was like a sky of stars and that was good enough for me. I'm glad I found your channel. Thank you so much! After i started my regular 9-5 job i became so regular based and noticed i lost my visualization ability (from highschool when it was at best). Just from listening to this and starting from the bottle of ice (which i didn't get at start) instead i got flashes of memories i'd thought i lost and dig deeper into that. The deeper i got the more flashes got clearer and i could see letters, books, even the Jar. As someone said at previous comment, i guess i never challenged the ability and thought i'd always have it throughout my life.... couldn't have been more wrong. My conclusion after this experience, which I enjoyed twice in one go because I didn’t want it to stop, is that I have made my brain lazy through time ..... it has been content with shallow and superficial levels of thinking..... and now , after this Magical Mystery Tour you took us on , it is suddenly wide awake. No longer in “ being content” mode ..... but eagerly looking forward to new adventures. Fully aware that it has the capacity to undertake these travels, instead of thinking it is too slow or dumb to even consider the possibility. Not only my mind has enjoyed this ..... it was also a physical experience. It made my body relax , even feeling a slight High, as if it was happy for my brain’s renewed confidence. Thank you so much , Anthony, for this unexpected pleasure and discovery. For the first time , I actually experience what you mean with having Fun while cooking up imagery. There has always been a voice that told me I had to force my brain to come up with names and actions. It may sound exaggerated to say that I am a new person. But hey..... this is how it feels. I want to hold on to this newly found pleasure, so these guided meditations really are a blessing. Thanks again , keep doing your beautiful work of love. Grateful greetings from Antwerp. Patricia

I TOTALLY GET THIS!!! It freaking works!! Here's the thing as to why so many people are NOT seeing anything once they describe it. When you're describing the image you want to see, you're NOT suppose to see it AS SOON AS you say it!!! People rush themselves to see the image before and during their description. The REAL secret is to just say the word, and wait AFTER the image is described. Similar to inception in psychology, when you're told NOT to think of a specific thing, you actually end up thinking hard on it more. Or even priming your mind by connecting images to words may even help too!!!

Interesting. When you say "supposed," what is this indexed against?
@guialmeida7232 жыл бұрын
This was a bit confusing, but i guess i understood, he said that people rush to see the images before and during the description, so first, i have to describe the scene, and wait for the image, and then start describing the image, did i understood? Almost like some sort of feedback, you say the description, describe until you see the image, and then describe the image, is it right? Don't know if @lanièr is gonna reply, but you did something similar that alec figueroa did, describing your room without the intention to see the images of your room, until you see even if it's a fainting image, and then describe it

Great video as always. There are no other videos on guided image streaming. This is helpful to start image streaming. I think that the idea of going fast, then slow down a bit is good, because I would many times get stuck on one element and try to see it. By forcing a quicker pace, the mind is forced to think faster in terms of "cave kogs", and this is not an exercise I do everyday. Having someone else's perspective on how to image stream is cool.

I struggle with OCD, which is relevant in the sense that my brain will take over what I try to visualize and ruin it. I try to picture something beautiful, I see something dark and disturbing or bleak. I try to picture a still object, I see it start to spin uncontrollably and it won't stop. I was diagnosed with OCD and thought it unrelated until I did a deep dive into searching 'why can't i stop objects i visualize from spinning or breaking' and it came up that it's an indicator for OCD. That all said, is there some sort of way to regain control? I love art and stories, I've always lived halfway in fantasy, but it's so frustrating when imagination is like trying to make shapes out of fast-moving clouds without your glasses on. No sharpness, no definition, just blurs that don't follow my instruction. When I dream, every so often it's incredibly vivid, where I can see every particle of snow and feel the sting of the ice crystals on my palms. I'm a medical marijuana user and at times I can also make out clear shapes while medicated, though they still struggle to follow what I want. Let me know if you have thoughts. It's like my brain can't tell how to look into itself when my eyes are closed, and instead tries to see things through the blurry static of light through my eyelids.

I think it needs to be greater appreciated that the ability to see in your mind can come with downsides. Hallucinations are more convincing and happen more often, leading to a disconnect from reality. I could go on in quite some detail about that given that I've gone through dream psychoanalysis - please see The Victorious Mind for details on that. But for our purposes here, I am hoping to upgrade the Win Wenger concept for our use in memory work. Although there may be some relationship to Jungian processes, I did not have them in mind until now.

Even though I haven't finished the book yet, so far it's well worth checking out and might help in concrete ways just to understand what the theory of predictive processing is and how it causes some people to exaggerate their own systems. Thank you for the reply and clarification. The reason I am confused is because I have taken mushrooms before and then I could litterally see things with my eyes behind my eyelids, or it felt like they were merged in some way(this has also happened sometimes before falling asleep). That is something different then? (Hallucinations?). Thank you!
@AnthonyMetivierMMM Жыл бұрын
It's an interesting question that one could ponder for a lifetime. What does it mean to "literally" see under any condition? I think of it like this: Do you do the mushrooms, or do the mushrooms do you? That's probably a more direct way at getting a substantial answer than noodling over the meanings of our words and how they are "in" the stuff of consciousness they are trying to point us to. Does this way of "looking" at things provide a leaping board for further inquiry that might be useful when it comes to matters of the mind and what we call "visualization"?

@@AnthonyMetivierMMM I’ve struggled with aphantasia as long as I can remember, I’ve also been programming for about 15 years now every day so my entire life is just abstract non-visual thought and virtually no external stimulation. I’ve lately been spending a lot of time in nature forcing myself to obsess over the visual details of everything and I’ve started to get the most basic beginnings of visualization. A perfect analogy would be if you took an object, removed any background imagery so that it’s just the object, displayed it on a TV for an hour, then turned off the TV so it was burned into the screen, then allowed me to glance at that ghost of an image for 0.1 seconds. Lol. BUT this is the first visuals I’ve ever gotten so it’s huge progress to me! So I’m trying image streaming now and your video helped me understand a ton, how it works. I was able to bring my ghost outlines into very slight color for the first time ever, not on command, and only for a second, but that’s made me happy. I’m going to keep working on this. In my case I don’t think it’s that I was born aphantasiac but rather that I lost the ability by never exercising it, like an atrophied muscle. As for if any ideas occurred, I did think about this idea of how sometimes I can have my eyes closed then open and shut them instantly and somehow my brain takes in everything I saw even though it was only seen for a split second, and it’s as if that visual info even is there in my “minds eye” for a moment, although if it is it fades away to grey noise maybe a quarter of a second later. So I created a quick app that just alternates through 1,000 random images I scraped, and I can close my eyes and blink and shut them again and take in a random image and try to retain it as long as I can, and once it all goes grey I just open my eyes again for a new image for a split second. It seems to be doing something, although I’m not sure what

@@AnthonyMetivierMMM I suppose the reason I don’t call it visualization is because I can dream at night and actually see visuals, akin to how one would put on a VR headset and see, but when I try to imagine in my minds eye, it’s blank. I can get the concept of spacial awareness like where objects would be in relation to other objects in my mind, but there’s no image component to it like there is when I dream at night. To me building a visual smartphone app is similar to drawing on paper. I code each element and render it on my device then I adjust it accordingly until it looks right, but I’m not imagining how it could look prior to coding it, I have to see it to grasp it visually.

I think I have Aohantasia. I heard somewhere that a loy of people could actually SEE THINGS when they close their eyes. For me it is jusr emptiness no matter how hard i try to imagine something. What do you think I should do? When rubbing my eyes the phosphenes dissapear within seconds and I can't really describe them except for being golden dots. When trying the after image technique I can have that object stay in my minds eye for up to 10 minutes but nothing else happens. I can make out colors but not any more shapes. You said to think of the letters w h i t e. But when I try it is all black.
@AnthonyMetivierMMM2 жыл бұрын
I don’t know what to suggest other than to share my story with changing it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2G9aWuKiLCYoNk And an exercise you can try is simple: You call it emptiness. How do you know what that is and why is that knowledge not an “image”? Can you share the answer with us without sharing whatever you call the mental experience of emptiness? What exactly are you sharing when you use that word? The answer is the nature of things as they “appear” to you. Or as they “arise” to you. Whatever you think of or how you frame it in words, that is what scientists call “mental imagery.” To write a sentence and express a concept like “emptiness” is technically to have it. That scientists cook up a term like “aphantasia” that spreads like wildfire across the internet and convinces all kinds of creative artists and programmers that they have it is evidence that their imagination is more alive and well than they suppose. The entire notion of such a condition is more and more questionable the more you think about it. Even the great renaissance memory master Robert Fludd mentions something like this and argues that the image of emptiness is the most potent of all to have. So those who experience are, according to him, blessed with extraordinary power. And if you watch my story with it, you’ll see that I would gladly get that power back. If only I could…

What do you think of the claim that many people are making that image streaming can significantly increase iq? For example, there is a guy who says he gained 60 points from practicing image streaming (plus other vairants of it). The result of years of image streaming led to a 158 full scale iq on the wais-iv. There are others who say they have gained benefits too (in iq and overall cognitive functioning). Pretty much all of them say their abilities to learn and understand skyrocketed. I would love for this to be true, but there is too much ambivalence (from personal observance of these people who are making the claims) for me to truly stake 10s of hours into this. I would love to hear from you regarding these things, thanks!

@@AnthonyMetivierMMM i believe that what you are referring to that will increase intelligence is better executive functioning and crystallized intelligence. I agree that what you mentioned could help in ones journey to success but what i am most curious about is how to increase raw intelligence (that to me is things like pattern recognition and the ability to piece things together). Richard haier is probably right in that it will become possible to enhance those aspects as we get better at manipulating our genes. Something you might find interesting is neuro enhancing tech like neurofeedback, tdcs, tacs, tms, etc. that help neurons wire and fire together. These usually work greatly in optimizing brain input/output primarily for underperforming (relative to max capacity to perform) brains. Also, something that i found interesting is reasoning training to increase iq. William james sidis' mother said, and im paraphrasing here, the secret to raising a smart child is to enhance their reasoning ability. Kevin pezzi also says abductive reasoning and relational memory exercise tremendously boosted his ability to think.
@AnthonyMetivierMMM Жыл бұрын
I don't know what "raw intelligence" means without some kind of context. Usually, what we see is that very smart people focus on incredibly granular fields and this gives them sensitivity to patterns in other fields. And ideally, they remain humble and know when to stay in their lane all the same.

There are many ways to improve your life with stuff like improving creativity, grit etc. But why do you choose to help people improve their life by improving their memory? I am just deeply curious about why you value memory improvement so much. In fact , lots of people say that it is the greatest way to increase a person's cognitive abilities, memory and creativity. People who have practiced it for a long time say that it has revolutionized their life. Why do you disagree ?

Please think logically before answering, as any such proven gains almost certainly would have won the Nobel Prize long ago. Everyone would be talking about it. I mean, i remember one of your videos which was "develop your memory even if you cannot..." The rest i forgot but that's the title, i'm sorry, it's because i forgot this video was focused more on explaining through a guided meditation like the hyperphantasia guided meditation, there was also a guy named james from photography insider, and just like you said, he said you can help your brain start seeing images with phosphenes, describing the blobs of colors (for people with aphantasia) but in that video i forgot the rest of the title, you also talked about looking at an afterimage of a candle or a window and describe it, and there was also another alternative (which james also said in his video) to describe a memory from the past, which you don't see but remember, and i got curious if anyone has tried it For example, i remember that i was in history class, i guess the air was natural, i could feel the temperature neutral, i wa sitting in a wood table, it was hard and soft, with the borders made of darker wood and more crispy, the table had a cold smell, a natural smell, my feet were on the floor the floor was also hard but straight and didn't have deformities, there was a girl sitting behind me, she was moving her feet fast and non stop, my chair was trembling but it felt nice, like a massage, confortable and relaxing, the teacher didn't come, so instead, the assistant of my math teacher came to the class and showed a video explaining that my history teacher made a video about his history class, but the sound didn't come out of the speakers, it took one hour of class to call the technician of my school, the assistant had a brown soft hair, it had a smell of hair and a taste of hair, his skin was very light brown, soft and jelly, he was wearing a black t-shirt with a white drawing, he tried to connect a black cable, soft and consistent, made of rubber, smelled like rubber, a natural smell, and a taste of rubber, kinda sweet but almost tasteless, and etc... (If i described the entire memory, it would take a long time including all the senses) Notice that i used my senses to describe the memory and at the same time visualizing it, it's weird for someone who is doing image streaming the first time, but you get used to it, that was an example of my memory, i'm already getting used to describe using the five senses, even if i don't feel the atual object, only with sight, i'm training my sensory parts of my brain, the key is to describe with the senses too

Frankly, "my way" of seeing something simply does not exist, and the sooner people start seeing that their "I" is an illusion and stop treating "experts" as single individuals, the faster intellectual maturity will arrive. Does this way of looking at things make sense?

Do you have any additional information/articles/recommendations on this technique? Was one of the goals to try and build multiple cognitive processes up “simultaneously”: rotating through the professor/alphabet and building the picture of the classroom/building?

Great question. One thing I had in mind were the findings from this study: The Enhancement of Visuospatial Processing Efficiency Through Buddhist Deity Meditation. If you get into the weeds of studies into what is broadly called "mental imagery," you'll have a great journey. This is a great start: plato.stanford.edu/entries/mental-imagery/ I won't throw any more studies than this at you. There are more books and articles on the topic than any individual could ever read. But I think the consensus always points to the same thing: Individual study and practice with these kinds of techniques. Few appear to be an exception to the rule.

Thanks for sharing this. Did you give this a try anyway? By "anything" what does this mean? What happens in your mind when you plan your day, to take one simple example of a mental calculation?

@@AnthonyMetivierMMM lol I can think just without images or sounds. I don’t know how to explain it differently.. when I recall a memory for example it’s without images or sounds if I went to a party yesterday my memory would be like: -went to a party yesterday -saw such and such -didn’t have good time -I met this person -this person is boring….it’s like notes kind of just a collection of facts in my mind if that makes sense
