1:41 true story: when I was 5 we had to tell the teacher what our mum did for a living. I wrote, "at night, my mum goes out to work and when she comes home in the morning, she brings loads of money home". My mum was invited to the school for a "chat". She was told that it really wasn't a profession that she should talk over with her 5 year son. My mum, who had a very wicked sense of humour replied that she didn't think there was anything wrong with being a Senior Night Sister at the local hospital. Many apologies were given very quickly. My mum just thought the whole thing was hilarious.

10:53 Not identical but similar. Our neighbours bred cats by default and when they moved they left the most beautiful Tom behind. He used to visit but our own cats, his uncle and aunt are very protective of the home they claimed as their own and shooed him away. He used to visit occasionally in the evening, then visited less and less to the point that I thought he must have moved on or died. One day, after a year’s absence I heard a plaintive cry from under the back stairs and found him there, emaciated. I fed and watered him and as he turned I saw he was missing a tail. Not being able to have another cat I took him to the SPCA to see if they could find him a forever home. Sadly, while they said they could and would, they also told me that their policy was I would never get to see him again. Just one week later he turned up at home, yet again, fully recovered, and even his tail had grown back. After writing this up on fb, as the tale unfolded, I belatedly remembered there had another almost identical cat that I hadn’t seen for years. I had assumed that he was the father of our regular, who was named Tiger, and the “father” I had dubbed the “ugly Tiger”. I have not seen either since, about six months now. The ugly Tiger was nota young cat and had lived quite a long time in the wild. The good looking Tiger is aging, his coat fading and looking a bit tough, as “his father” had done before him.

The cat one, lmao. I had the same thing happen to me. Except, I thought my cat got out because I saw her under my parents car. Some kids were chasing her and I yelled at them for chasing my cat. I called out for her, and she came right to me and let me pick her up. I bring her in the house and set her down. She goes and cuddles up with my mom. I walk thru the kitchen to go to my room, and I guess the cat followed me. Then I hear hissing. I'm like, tf is Yang hissing for? I turn around and Yang; who when side by side with the new cat is larger, is hissing at our newest cat. So, that's how we got Yin. They were exact copies of each other except for size. Yang got huge AF while Yin never grew any larger. Oh, and Yin had got ear mites and eventually broke her ear, so that was a thing.

@@franhunne8929 We did keep Yin. Yang and her became like sisters until they both passed away of old age. Yin managed to escape for a day or two after we moved. I had moved out by then, as well. My parents decided they would keep both of the cats, despite Yang being mine. Well, Yin got pregnant and had 3 kittens. All were pure black, two males and one female. I took the two males and named them Zen and Enlightenment. The female, my mom kept, and named her Ching (of the I-Ching). Zen passed away due to repeated urinary tract infections; the vet bills were getting to be too much, so we decided to let him pass. Enlightenment lived for 12 years. He eventually got diabetes, and after a long struggle, he passed as a result on Thanksgiving day. By that time, my then wife and I had split. My living arrangement didn't allow for cats, so I gave my two cats (Enlightenment and November) to my parents. They kept telling me to come visit as light-light didn't have much time left; I blew them off repeatedly. Well, on Thanksgiving day, I went to visit. My cat was in a box with blankets and pillows, thinner than I had ever seen him. He meowed at me and tried to get out of the box to come to me. I picked him up, and he clung to me, purring. It broke my heart, and after I put him down, I went out back to smoke (and cry). 10 minutes later I came back in: while I was outside Enlightenment took his last breaths. To this day I cry when I think about it. He held on until he could see me one last time. And once he did, he passed on, peacefully, having been held one last time by his person. That was the legacy Yin left. Saving that cat, unbeknownst to me, led to one of the greatest joys of my life. She went from a stray with a broken ear, the smaller twin of a cat she wasn't related to; to being a part of our family. Saving her, even if it wasn't intentional, was one of the best things I've ever done. If I had known she wasn't my cat at the time, I wouldn't have saved her. But, she did become our cat. She was one of the sweetest cats I've ever had. And her kittens became one of the core pillars of who I became. It's strange how something accidental became pivotal. Enlightenment is with beyond a doubt the most intelligent and personable cat I've ever known, not just owned. I honestly think about him every day, and I'm glad I got a chance to memorialize his impact on me.
