The Home Office has compiled a stock of 16,000 rental properties for asylum seekers, despite the pressing shortage of housing for young Britons and families.
Contractors working for the Home Office are offering landlords a five-year guarantee of full rental payments as they manage the properties, aiming to quickly relocate asylum seekers from hotels.
However, officials caution that this strategy may lead to the formation of 'ghettos' as the properties are concentrated in areas with lower housing costs, such as Hull, Bradford, and Teesside.
These homes are part of the same pool as those in the private and social rented sector, contributing to housing more than 58,000 asylum seekers in Great Britain.
This number is more than double the figure for rented 'dispersed accommodation' a decade ago.

The NIMBY effect. It’s very easy to be pc, ‘very caring’ and ‘deeply worried about the rise of right wing politicians’ when you return everyday to your nice home in a nice, clean neighborhood where the biggest threat is your neighbor trying to charge his Tesla on your driveway. If you have to live in high rise, for 70% populated with ‘people of the loving faith’: the ‘ladies’ screaming ‘racist’ at you in your face and trashing your stuff behind your back and their menfolk catcalling or worse at your 12 yrs old daughter, it’s another ballgame. And then they even have the nerve to wonder why the electorate is moving to the far right faster than the speed of light. The real tragedy is that those ‘speaking the thruth’ and ‘get things done’ do absolutely f-ing nothing besides lining their pockets once elected.

What other country in the world is literally giving free houses to 'asylum seekers'? Those that enter illegally should be in secure detention centres not being housed amongst us. If I wanted to live amongst people of a different ethnicity to myself who speak a different language then I would go and live abroad. Most people, including immigrants, prefer to live amongst their own so why is it so wrong for the English/ Welsh/ Scottish or Irish to desire the same?

The worst part is 90% of those don't need an asylum and are not refugees but illegal economic immigrants. I was refugee and immigrant. Came legally, with documents, no issues reveling identity. My mother with university degree cleaned toilets and houses coz she felt ashamed to live of mercy and not return anything. Both me and my sister learned the language in less than 3 years. Obeyed rules and customs and kept be reminded by mum how we are guests and representing our country and we must be at our best behavior. Not to demand or ask for anything coz it is other people good will to give something. Not their duty or responsibility. It was back in the 90ties. I watched how fast young people and adults were deported for smaller crimes like pick pocketing,as it should be. Every country have enough of their own criminals and trouble makers, it does not need imported ones. Real refugees and people who are running from oppression, war, crimes, discrimination are thankful and humble and appreciate the help they got and want to repay the favour, to work, to adapt, to make a life. They all have same looks in their eyes. That look is missing from 90%of illegal immigrants, coz they are not running away from anything, they are not in danger from where they came from. They come for different reasons. Instead to reward people who made all the right steps to legally come and ask for asylum,illegals are rewarded, while legals are punished. Person who is coming for right reasons have no issues to provide their identity, even if they don't have documents coz of some reason. But the ones who refuse to reveal and destroy documents few miles before the shore, well that persons have different agenda why they are coming. We all are humans and we need to help each others in times of need, but the help can't be enternal. 3 months is a top. After that find a job and start working. Real refugees and real asylum seekers would have no issues with that. I know that for sure coz me and my family were refugees once and many other refugees and asylum seekers I met during my life had no issues either, from Sudanese boys, to pal%stinian and Syrian gays, even iranians, i met couple of those, many others from all over world, their will to work, their look in the eyes was always the proof why they came and from what they were running from. In 31 years I met so many people, volunteered with so many refugees and asylum seekers that I am so disgust what is happening today. Price will be payed by common native people all over Europe and by real refugees and asylum seekers, coz this insanity Is literally rewarding bad and illegal and often criminal behaviour. Cut all social welfare after 3 months, force them to work, force them to reveal their identity, cut all support in housing,payed bills etc. That will profile why someone came. Punish all criminal behaviour and law breaking. For serious crimes deportation, for smaller ones jail sentences longer than a year. When they see they can't do what they want and that there is no free money falling from sky they will leave. Probably will make riots first, wich is good enough reason to be deported. Even if it means paying to their countries to take them back in. It will cost less money than providing for all the costs every month for housing,utilities, cloths,medical service, education(which they literally waste) etc. France I think done that with Afghanistan government,or some other country. Literally payed to get rid of certain number of them. Why native people must made so much compromise in their own country, work and not be abel to afford house, stuff for kids, coz they literally work to provide social welfare for people who refuse do work, to adapt, who have no intention to repay the hospitality they received. When is it enough? I don't get the mentality of west Europe. The older I get I start to realise why generations born before WW2 managed to go forward, to build, to prosper with time. Coz life was so harsh, filled with wars, destruction and pain, they had motive to survive, to make it better for their kids, coz they were reseted so many times and saw so much pain that they hardened, they experienced suffering, hunger, fear, all the feelings i experienced wich wake up such primal instincts that you keep going. And they knew they have to protect what is theirs, from their homes to their countries coz it can disappear in a blink of an eye. I learned that in 1991 as a 9 year old. This insanity must stop, before it is too late and it comes to a point of no return, coz when that happens, europe in 40ties will seem like a child's play.

Experienced something similar. Bought a lovely house, £200k, on a new development, full of families, great place to live. After about 7 / 8 years houses got sold, became HMO's, migrant workers moved in. The comings and goings into the house were relentless, late at night, through the night, early mornings. Groups of migrant workers outside in the garden until all hours, smoking, drinking and making noise. It was horrendous. We worried about our children, safety, property. These were terraced town houses, 5 bedrooms. Many times I had to lean out of my bedroom windows to ask them to be quiet, keep the noise down. Cars everywhere. Rubbish. In the end I sold up even though the market price was down, and moved away.... I was lucky I had that option! This plan by the government is simply irresponsible and unfair on those that end up with them as neighbors! Bonkers Britain.

As a young adult who put my entire life savings and some borrowed money for a deposit for a house costing 350k, after 2 years, we now have multiple properties on the estate that are housing asylum seekers with 1 family staying in a house (5 bed, 3 bath) that cost more than 500k.

My parents were never able to get a council property after they got married in 1950. Their family home was partly destroyed in the bombing and they had to rent 3 rooms for years. My father spent 6 years fighting for freedom and my mother helped in war time material production for the navy. They were not able to even think about putting a deposit down on a property until 1979 due to my fathers war injuries. Fast forward to 2024 with illegal immigrants invading our country and given virtually everything they need for nothing. I am glad that my parents are no longer around to see what has happened to our country. Saying any more would probably get me banned!!!

Got enough of these free loaders living near me. Driving expensive cars, always parking over people's driveways, double parking in the road and just leaving their hazards on... Sometimes for hours. We get a mini bus regularly pull up over our driveway with foreign plates pulling a trailer without matching plates, selling fruit veg and meat. All getting weighed out in the street. They shout at each other from house to house as late as 11pm, alot later in the summer months, when most of us have to be up early fork work. Zero respect. We in a cost of living crisis yet they always pushing big supermarket trollies full of food into the houses they've been handed, every light is on in every room every night so obviously utility bills aren't a problem for them. It's just f**king vile

This happened to us. We bought a new build in 2018 we had worked for, for years and the whole community around us was filled up with migrants. They had no respect for the beautiful new build area and let their dogs crap all over the place. Burglary was massive and litter was everywhere. We got out but lost a lot on our house. Sickened. I live in a new estate were they cost between £250,000 to £500,000. We have affordable housing getting ready for occupation in the middle of the estate.
