+John Nator Probably not a stable 60fps if you plan on running 4k. I would imagine however that crossfire Fury X could handle 4k at a stable 60 but that's just a guess and it all depends on optimisation and so on. Havn't played the game with AMD cards yet. We'll probably see better performance as the game development progresses. If you head over to /r/pcmasterrace there might be someone there who has the R9 Fury X with a 4k monitor who can test it for you if you absolutely need to know :)

Y- nZ Not to mention the insane amount of cash this kickstarted made, broke records the Guiness book of world records for highest crowd funded game ever and it still sits in the number 1 spot, and has far exceeded the original goal of $500,000 it is currently at over $82,013,257+...The bad news you need to purchase your ships with real cash, and if you want a good ship and there are a boat load of ships to choose from you could easily be paying $400+ bucks just for a lower end badass ship...And then you need to buy insurance apparently that is if you don't by a ship package before the release supposedly, and that cost cash too, I think you can buy 6months to 1 year insurances packs, and that cost real cash, and to top it all off you best buy that insurance because if you don't your precious hundred, or possibly $1000 ship gets pirated by space pirates or destroyed and your shit outta luck...This game looks amazing but the prices are ridiculous, unless you have tons of cash to spend then I'm sure it would be great. to bad for the average player. There is no monthly fee which is a plus, however that monthly fee will more than likly come in the form of insurance for ships, for those who don't invest beforehand. They also have unknown micro-transactions set up.

+Gautier Bardon Yea no, that's not how it works. The game will likely be rather small in size. The universe is generated as you explore it. Look at Elite: Dangerous. A 1:1 scale of the milky way universe, yet the game is below 10GB. Because it's handled mostly server side.

June 2020: Pretty much the only things from the clips used in this trailer that haven't already been added to the game: - Realtime reflections (as on the helmets) - Body dragging (Coming in a few weeks, though) - The Aegis Redeemer - Shockwaves affecting character rigs, either by animation or by physics - Functional escape pods Other than that, the scale and variety of exploration, player interaction, and combat are all part of the game as it now exists. It's been such a long road, but Start Citizen has lived up to the glory of the original vision, and there's so much more to come.

I can imagine how much techinical challenges they are facing with this one. It's not a small projects you have to understand that. I am a software developer and I do. They are doing good job. Star Citizen is expanding and developing all the time and they are keeping the players up to date and well informed about what's happening. I'm very pleased with that. It's going to take more than a year to get it done but the dev will be faster and faster all the time and the universe will keep expanding.

For those who are confused: "In-Engine" and "In-Game" is NOT the same thing. This footage is taken from "in-engine". All that means, is that it isn't pre-rendered in a 3D program, but rendered in the CryEngine (which Star Citizen is using) instead. It *does not* mean that: - the game will look like this - these models will be in the game - these types of gameplay features will be available It simply means that the trailer is made, using footage captured, using the CryEngine. Just a simple example is the guy standing on grass at the end: that won't be in the game (as far as we know). But it's captured using the game engine (CryEngine). Essentially this is no different than a pre-rendered CG trailer, like the World of Warcraft expansion trailers for example. The only difference is what software is used to make it. Don't get me wrong: a lot of this IS "in-game" footage. We know, because they've released, for instance, the dogfighting module, and we know it looks fairly much like this. But please don't think that your gaming experience will actually be like this trailer (and it is an AWESOME trailer, no doubt) - it wont.

Any cutscenes you see in here were rendered @ 4k then scaled down to 1080p to get the impression of proper AA and textures that will be in the full game. (All of the ship trailers are made this way). A majority of the footage here was all real-time and in-game though, including the FPS, Planetside and Dog Fighting video. The only pre-rendered footage was in the first half with the ship trailers, and the end scene on the planet. There's very little quality difference between them outside of Anti-Aliasing (since they were both made in-engine regardless)

I can’t speak for everyone, but it’s been 9 years later since this video was uploaded. We are currently in the year of 2023, patch 3.22 and I’m not disappointed. Within the 9 years,our world has seen a pandemic, where millions of fellow citizen of humility has been lost. Although the road has been bumpy at times, and humanity is slowly recovering, we have not given up on the vision. If anything we have doubled down, and created ground breaking technology in the process. I’m proud of what we as a collective have achieved, and looking forward to the future. Jesus, reading some of the letters is insane. They claim that farming will be a specialized field in and of itself. FARMING. You have to time it, take care of your plant, have the best food, etc. It's insane how complex they're getting. I'm getting a little worried about how incredibly small things like having a potato farm on your ship be so complex will take away from other stuff. Like we don't even have mining yet, and that's even more complex. 2017 deadline is looking a little unrealistic.

xBluR Plays Nonono. Take the Caterpillar for example. It has something like ten sections in the main body. Those sections can be switched out for certain modules, like living module (beds, tables, etc), storage module (munitions, food, etc), farm module (growing food, recycling oxygen(?), etc) I can't remember all the different modules, but there were loads of them.

I haven't seen any vehement supporters of Star Citizen wanting it to be rushed. Those people denounced SC a while back as a scam, when the single player more story driven ED clone Chris was originally trying to get funding for became a Universe due to unprecedented support and so the entire scope changed. Now, they are predictably starting to change their tune again as the game materialises. I wouldn't take such an aggressive stance with the SC community, it's one of the most well-grounded I've seen. CR made his vision very clear, and that it would take as long as it takes, so we're pretty well prepared. In the meantime, we get to play it along the way, playing an evolving experience, giving feedback, and getting the most experience for when the game goes live. It might sound like I'm pulling this out of my ass, but I predict 90% of Star Citizen's at-launch player-base doesn't even know what Star Citizen is yet.

Right1994 I'm in the same boat, I don't remember telling them to take all my money but here I am with a couple of ships in the hangar and waiting on two concepts to get into the game (Vanguard and Hull B) I realize this makes me a pariah but I melted my Super Hornet. I wasn't having any fun. Press button watch Vanduul blow up then make a wildly wide drifting turn, rinse and repeat. I like the Gladius more, I'm just hoping my Vanguard goes into AC before Sq. 42 hits us.

This song is the anthem of Star Citizen. After hearing and seeing the video that was put together so artfully I am filled with a sense of sorrow. I still watch Bored Gamer religiously and follow the Star Citizen channel, I still get excited for Citizen-Con. After so many years I have the benefit of hind sight and I wonder how many of us feel the same sense of sorrow. I am truly happy that so many people love seeing the behind the scenes of game development but there must be a huge portion of backers that would have preferred something to do that actually matters. Many of us share CIG's vision of Star Citizen becoming a living breathing sci-fi universe (love you Tony!) but what I have experienced to date is a shell of a game in the PTU with buggy mechanics. I cannot recall any side-quest or character or even compelling game loop that would draw me back even if there were not game crashing issues. So many years has been given to CIG to show us what stories the verse holds and I feel that I have yet to experience anything noteworthy. Good writing is not purchased with money and backers. A great story is not measured in 64-bit tech or thousand dollar capital ships. It is driven by the passion for story-telling. All the best digital art in the world is only as valuable as the meaning it expresses. All the cutting edge mechanics and next-gen features are not worth a second glance if there is no emotion laid into their designs. So then do we conclude that either little effort and resources have been put forth to provide interesting story-lines and side-quests; or perhaps (and this is much more disheartening) effort HAS been put forth and this is the best to expect from the PTU? Perhaps "player-driven-content" will come to the rescue in the PTU. But after Fallout-76, I'm not so sure. Or perhaps the release of Squadron will see a similar release of good content in the PTU. I hope that this is true. However CIG has had years and years of opportunity to leverage the sand-box that is the PTU and build castles, however small, and yet the game remains largely empty. We can wait for persistence and wait for server-meshing or whatever the next piece of tech that is coming just like we waiting for 64-bit and planet-tech. I'm finding myself asking if interesting characters and compelling content really has to rely on these features to exist? My fear is that with CIG has have found such a successful business model with selling ships and "kick-start" financial charity that they may fully be removed from the publish or perish mentality that pushes other game companies to get their game out the door. Or maybe it is just me. Maybe I need to stop imagining and lower my expectations. Anyway if you read this far, thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me get these thoughts out. Here is to hoping I'm wrong about all of this.

With 3.5 coming we can finally remake this trailer in its entirety with better graphics and actual game play instead of in engine renders. We have come a long way but have much more to go before the dream is reality. I will continue to imagine Star Citizen, but every patch the dream is becoming reality.

This is nice and all, and SC could be an amazing game, but will it ever actually come out as a finished thing? In 2013, Christ Roberts said *"then a beta of the persistent universe by the end of the year (2014), which essentially is bringing all of these things into one holistic piece, and then we'll go live after the beta which I would anticipate would probably be sometime in early 2015."* They were expecting the beta of the FULL GAME to be RIGHT NOW. As it stands, you can see your ship in a hangar, you can do some light unfinished dogfighting in small instanced zones, and do some very very simple racing. 2 years ago, they were expecting the finished game now. Heck, even in later updated schedules, they were supposed to have released the ship-boarding and planetside modules by now. A year later, C.R. said *"We plan to launch the Persistent Universe sometime in 2015"*. So a year later, and the deadline has moved a year. Ok. Then later in 2014, that became: *"The backers should be able to fly around in a small version of a persistent universe toward the end of next year."* - so it went from full launch of PU in 2014, then early 2015, then small part of it in end of 2015. Keep in mind that the 2016 release date was planned since 2013. But since then, every single module has been delayed considerably. The Dogfighting module alone was almost a full year behind schedule - originally expected to be released in December 2013. (yet they expect the same full-game release date?). Frankly, following how things are, thinking of a 2016 release date is just not going to happen. If we continue to see the same delays that have been happening up until now, a late 2017 or even 2018 (4 years from now) release date seems more likely. Star Citizen could be a super cool game, but it's starting to feel a whole lot like Duke Nukem, that just never got around to being finished - and when it finally was, it was outdated, and uninteresting.

It will take its time and it won't be on time, it probably won't be feature complete till 2017/18/19. But it will be ready to be released at some point and it will get the funds from the backers to take as long as it needs. CR is known for delays and good games, better this way then the opposite. I backed in October 2012 I know what the wait means, but I'm fine if the development takes 5 years or more, I even would go so far to say that this a appropriate time for a game like this. It's just that CIG always gives too optimistic time lines. ;)

All AAA game in the next 5 years are developed for the current gen consoles with middle range 2013 hardware. Star Citizen is developed for 2016/17 hardware, that means the SC graphic based on hardware which is five times better than the console hardware.

***** Actually if you read the trailer info on the on the RSI news feed stuff more then 80% of this video is purely in game, we as the players may not have it but that is what is coming to the game also in engine is not that far from in game, you may not be able to do that stuff, but the graphics, physics, lighting, and models are all the same due to it being produced on a HEAVILY modified version of the cry engine. also barely any AAA game has a trailer with even any in engine shots (at least 50%) (BARELY) so yea

is it? Where? I've been waiting 9 years, did I miss a memo? ... Seriously, it isn't. What we have at present is a great Jpeg maker and a vast lifeless solar system limited to 60 people at a time. Based on current progress I don't expect to see SQ42 before 2022. As for the PU I expect that to be a broken half-baked mess until at least 2024. All providing one of the longest and most expensive developments in history doesn't fall to bits before then mind you, which despite my bluntness is not something I want to see. I bought this when I was 30, I am a year off 40. I'd like to actually play the finished product rather than hand my account to my grandkids.
