The only year throughout the Islamic history which is named the “Year of Sad, the Year of Grief” the year in which prophet Muhammad lost 2/3rds of the Islamic pillars.
Many Muslims around the world commemorate in these nights 2the passing of Abu Talib. The prophets uncle and a man of great character, and Khadija, the prophets 1st wife and the most contributor to the success of Islam.
In regards to Abu Talib, there is still a debate about whether he died as a Muslim or as a Kafir (disbeliever). He was of course the father of Ali , and had great influence in mecca, but would this be enough for his salvation.

It amazes me how anyone can say the father of Imam Ali died a disbeliever? This is a direct insult and you can see an agenda. Islam wouldn’t have survived if it weren’t for the beautiful personalities. Lady Khadijah, Abu Talib, and Ali ibn Abu Talib. This is a clear fact how and why anyone would dispute this clearly has an agenda and hatred because their family was killed by the sword of Ali in the early battles of Islam mainly Badr. When the father and brother of Hind were killed they got revenge on Hamza and they couldn’t get Ali and they wanted to destroy his lineage. But by the will of Allah us lovers and servants of Ali will continue to carry their names.
