SKITTLES SHRIMPS (6 COLORS of Neocaridina shrimps) | EP3 NO FILTER NO CO2 WALSTAD METHOD aquarium

In this video of NO FILTER NO CO2 NO FERTS Walstad method aquarium I introduced 6 different colours of Neocaridina shrimps. I selected 5 of each colour for a total of 30 shrimps. When mixing different colours of shrimps eventually all the bright and flashy colours will be lost with breeding and with many generation being born in the aquarium they will revert to their natural gray colour (wild form). It will be interesting to see which colour will prevail. I also added 3 adult Ramshorn snails. Big thanks to Foo the Flowerhorn and Diana Walstad who were main inspiration for this aquarium.

Great video. I like the way how gentle, patient and respectful you treat plants and animals. The music is nice, relaxing and calm, very different from the "noise" you hear in many other videos. I liked and subsribed and hope to see more, soon. I am researching as much as possible about Walstad tanks atm, because I am considering to set one up myself.

Absolutely stunning shrimp you got there! They should eat that Wood fungus within a week or so, they smashed out fungus for me in a crazy quick time! If you wanna get rid of it, I recommend not feeding the shrimp, so they'll go for the fungus. Awesome video, the tank looks great and it'd be so cool to have the shrimp breeding and have a colony of skittle-coloured shrimp haha! Keep up the amazing work IM! 👍

what'did I say, man. the egeria will take over your tank!! 😂😂 I've tried planting variation of rotala species, it also grows obnoxiously fast in a walstad tank. your shrimps will breed like crazy inside hahaha, awesome!

I like the color variations of your shrimp! Out of curiosity, why did you choose Neocaridina over Caridina (bees, crystals, etc.)?

With my tap water it is easier for me to keep Neocaridina shrimps alive.

Did you monitor the TDS with a meter during these stages before adding the shrimps

No I didn't but...my TDS is usually steady 140-160 in all my aquariums.

can I install a small sump filter for these kind of walstad method aquariums, for more clear water and good water parrameters. So, if I install a sump will it be a disaster or a hit.....

Well that's up to you. Yes you can install a filter or a sump but as you can see from my aquarium water will be clear enough even without filter.

How long you turn on the light, Are they never lack of O2? I tried this method before and work well, but I try to recreate another tank with same method it didn't work they often lack O2 since they do well whenever I put filter with surface agitation. Perhaps I got poor health shrimp or the sell had different treatment?

I added Betta fish later on and I am sure he ate few. But the original colony is still alive although they lost their colours.

All the colours of the Neocaridina shrimps are selectively bred. If you mix the colours they will interbreed and the end result is "wild form" shrimp that is transparent and has brown patches.

I am just looking at it and parvula has completely covered the substrate. It has increase in volume and size. It will be more visible in the next few videos. I just decided not to trim it because so far I have been enjoying jungle look.
