Just watch the cows with alfalfa, it is ok as long as they don’t eat too much at a time or too frequently. It can cause them to bloat. Those babies were so excited for this treat! This gave me a good morning chuckle 😁

In California alfalfa is the main hay for horses along with Bermuda and some grass hays for grazing.

This made me smile for so many reasons. Annie and Ernie running in to eat the green hay at the same time as the littles. Everyone so excited to have something new and scrumptious. The video of Lester coming home to his survivors. Paty Pig, Ima Jean and Meg. I never tire of seeing that although it's hard to watch as I cry for those who didn't make it. Who is the dark donkey? Alfalfa is good for pregnant females but can cause urinary calculi in males that are both not intact or intact. My goats are the exact same!!! They go crazy!!!

Awesome video. Loved all the babies reaction to the alfalfa and the snippet of Ima Jean was so sweet. I see a few people commented that Lester's title was click bait, however in my opinion I don't believe so. I beleive he is referring to the alfalfa as LocoWeed because the babies literally were going loco/crazy over it.

I agree. I have very different animals to be sure than those on the farm but there are certain treats I give them that I would swear is like crack to them. I mean no harm by referring to it as crack, I'm not trying to make light of any drug situation, but they truly act like its euphoric to them! And it's one of my favorite things about keeping my type of animal, seeing them truly enjoy something I gave them and being blissfully happy about it!!

I have sat and watch that video over and over and over and cried and cried and cried I love Ima survivor sanctuary I wish I was able to visit all of the babies especially Carl and Ivy . But I’ll tell you that Jamie has been a rock for me she has been through the same stuff that I’ve been through there’s days where I think I can’t get past it but then I said no watch Jamie‘s videos and I’m like you got this if Jamie can do it you can do it and Jamie I wanna thank you very much for being there for all of us and for giving me the confidence to be able to wear a dress for the very first time in my life. As for Lester I love you too you’re like a brother to me I love how you just rattle on and on thank you for making your videos too. It's soft and sweet. High in Ca. Can cause stones in ANY goat along with grains. We feed alfalfa soaked cubes to increase protein and water intake in the winter and during the summer based on hay analysis and blood work as well as type and amount of work horses are in. Fat doesn't equal healthy. Every vet we use says lean is far better than fat. We feed the cubes to out horses.

We feed alfalfa hay to our horses only during the winter and only in small doses, 2 or 3 times a week. We break up the flakes to make it easier to sort through some of the tougher stalks. They will pick through the Bermuda hay until they eat all the alfalfa then eat Bermuda. Like kids eating dessert first 😋 We do add a little of the alfalfa pellets to feed during the summer tho just for a little added energy source. Thank y'all for all the videos. I love these babies so much. Ima Jean has sure been through it. I just wonder how did her and Patty survive that high running water when Patty was so short and Ima Jean couldn't even stand up. I'm thankful that you turned that catastrophe into a beautiful Sanctuary Lester & Jami. And it brought the 2 of you together. It's amazing and keeps me in Awe what God can do. When I first got into horses it was at a rent stable were you would rent the horses for an hour. I rescued one who was almost dead, my first horse, but it’s funny because I watched your videos now for at least a year and I always wondered why you never fed alfalfa because that’s all they fed at that rent stable. They grow it massively in California in the valley so I guess it’s easy to get and cheap here or it was cheap here. At any rate I was riding my horse, bareback thank God, and he passed out underneath me wow that was something the vet did bloodwork and said his protein was too high and I needed to take him off of alfalfa hay I don’t know if it was because he was old or because since he had been starved almost to death he just ate too much but it is full of energy I’m glad your Biggs and Littles got to try it its fun to watch❤️

Lester I cry every time I watch the videos/clips of the animals after Harvey. It is heartbreaking the devastation it caused. But those tears are also mixed with tears of joy as well. I am a believer God has a plan and everything happens for a reason. You have made a beautiful sanctuary out of your home and you share it with the love for the animals and with the rest of the world! It has a higher calcium content and is usually something to give to a pregnant mother to be during pregnancy and nursing for others you do not want them to get kidney stones from too much calcium.
