Addressing the Meta Knight up b problem, Meta Knight has 3 different up b angles consisting of forward, backward, and middle. While sometimes, mk up b can be wack and just not work and just miss, it’s usually on the player if they used the correct angle.

Completely underrates having insane survivability due to a decent recovery + being the most dense heavy character in the game, and underrates PP having by far the best anti-air option with patooie.

Proper spacing and optimization of sourspot confirms into tippers/combo routes, and not just actively blaming the, “poor hitboxes” for tippers, makes him atleast high tier. Just because Esam says he’s low tier, does not immediately mean it’s fact. Look at other pro players and their rankings. Marth is commonly rated at lowest, mid tier.

Faced a good Zelda a week or two ago (online). Was doing lagless edge cancels all over the place. Also was landing sweet spot lightning kicks every time. Similar to Ness, I feel everyone gets too preoccupied with the spam option(s) (e.g. PK fire, Naryu's love) to talk about the actual threats/good points to the character (e.g. magnet stuff, esp. because I play really short-range characters), which makes it really hard to find advice on how to counterplay a mid-level one.

Going to disagree on lucario here. Lucario fsmash at 50% aura kills at 72% (with lightning). Roy's 50% fsmash, arguably one of the highest knockback fsmashes in the game, kills at 65%. Lucario can easily rack you up to 70% while you're trying to get him to 50%. He's is very mobile and can use his frame data to wiff punish very consistently, very safe offstage game, and his combo game will all be very reliable in wracking up the damage needed to get off an fsmash or meaty Bair or aura sphere. Oh, and force palm is a delete button lol. Lower mid is his lowest tier.

As a Plant main, I'd say Plants placement is about right, maybe above dr.mario, but Plant can't do much in neutral. All of its moves have quite some endlag and are easily punished. Ptooie is great for anti airing and a ledge trapping, up smash kills mad early, but thats about it. UpB goes far, but can easily be punished, DownBs armor does almost nothing and the hurtbox after the attack makes it even worse. SideB can be reflected or easily avoided. Tilts are fine at best. Smashes are ok. And aerials are slow and have quite some endlag. Also Plants roll is terrible, it goes almost nowhere. Plant is only very good against opponents who like to jump allot that dont adjust their gameplan So yea, definitely bottom/low tier

I might be biased but I still think Isabelle is better than you have her placed. She has one of the best defensive setups in the game, with a lloyd trap set she can pretty much wall someone out and then if she ever gets a hit with either slingshot, grab, or dash attack she can then carry you off the stage, which then puts her in the position she's strongest at, edge guarding. Isabelle is terrifying off ledge thanks to slingshot and her down air, and if you get back to ledge vs her she has the lloyd trap set to limit your options getting back to stage. Also if she needs to, she can go deep off stage to get you and she knows she can get back from anywhere. On top of this lloyd trap is also a combo set up that isn't even hard to do. Now do I think she's high tier? No. She has too many unsafe moves to be a high tier, she isn't the fastest character, her grab is really slow compared to other grabs, and once she's in disadvantage its a bit hard to get back to neutral, but I just don't think she's a low tier. Probably somewhere around mid. This may have been a bit rambley but I think she just doesn't get the credit she deserves because there isn't a top player playing her.

I prefer villager over isabelle and I think he’s better then what people say he is but then again you check out other top players tier lists and they don’t have much to say about him. I do think Isabelle should be played at the bottom of mid tier or low tier because of her gimps and set ups.

As someone who stopped maining bowser jr, I can't agree with you. Bowser jr doesn't have a reliable way to beat shield, and shield stops everything he wants to go for, such as kart combos and mech koopa combos. He can't really deal with reflector's well, and his frame data is meh at best, and high tier simply outspeeds and combos you.

DK has got to be at least Mid Tier. I've seen ChunkyKong and Slushie do things with the character that makes -3 MUs look even. Not only that, Larry Lurr played him at a local a couple months ago and came in Second place. Chunky either wins or places second on a consistent basis at literally every local he attends each week playing Solo DK. He even went to Game 3 against Light at MomoCon and almost won the set. SlushieV1 came in 25th at Glitch Infinite beating notable players like Jakal and DM! DK is grossly underrated imo by most people in the community. I'm not saying he's high or Top Tier, but he's potential is at the very least lower mid Tier.

Everyone: King Dedede ESAM: Daydayday

15:00 First, it pleases me immensely to hear ESAM say that Mii Swordfighter has sauce and potential, even if they are absolutely a low tier (most of their stats really do kinda suck, except for weight at 100, in the top 32 characters and tied with Cloud, they can live stuff you might not expect them to live; and also air speed, actually breaking into top 20 characters- I cannot yet do much myself, I need to practice a bunch more, but I just know there has to be hidden Slingshot potential here...). Second, and regarding the timestamp about not really having a good Down-B: 1. Reversal Slash is, for pretty much all intents and purposes, literally just Mario's Cape, and that has very well been known to be a surprisingly good move at times. (Mario's Cape *hitbox* come outs sooner, but Swordfighter's Reversal Slash *reflector* both starts earlier and lasts longer.) 2. Blade Counter is, at least in my opinion (but I'm biased, it's the Down-B I prefer using), easily one of the best "standard" counters (i.e. one that doesn't have varying properties) in the game, it's only real problem in comparison to the other standard counters is that it has a relatively short range, but I'm of the simple mindset that its vertical knockback more than makes up for that minor flaw. Plus, it's actually Mii Swordie's single fastest frame data option (runner-up goes to D-tilt at frame 5), the intangibility starts on frame 4, and then the counter activation at frame 5. 3. Power Thrust is essentially just a third Falcon Kick/Wizard's Foot (moreso WF), but it has significantly reduced knockback in comparison, and it cannot spike like Ganon's version of the move. That said, however, it's still very much another Wizard's Foot. Take that how you will. ...Uh, sorry for rambling, I just wanted other people to get a quick glimpse at their potential. Seriously, ESAM, you just made my otherwise bad day at work into a great day where I'm now glad I woke up. :-)

Another thing to mention, as someone who also plays Mii Swordfighter, I think it’s kinda misleading to say they lack a good down B outside of Power Thrust when Reversal Slash is right there. Having a reflector with little endlag is already good enough, but the fact that it stalls your momentum also makes it useful in mixing up your disadvantage and maintaing stage presence for a little longer in the context of edge guards. Reversal Slash is basically Mario’s Cape if it were better as a reflector, but worse as an attack, and Cape is a solid move in of itself

Additionally, I also think you’re undervaluing the moves of Swordie’s kit that don’t fall into your category of “amazing”. For example, you say there’s no reason for a Swordie to use Nair, implying it doesn’t have a place in their kit, when that really isn’t true; at the end of the day, Nair is their fastest aerial and it has the widest hitbox, making it their best combo breaker. It’s also worth noting that Fair’s hits can struggle to link into each other sometimes, so Nair acts as a safer option for pressure and edge guards. I know Swordie’s Nair isn’t that good relative to other Nair’s, but it has a niche to fill and it’s not as obsolete as you make it out to be. With that said, it’s pretty silly to compare Swordie to Mac and to claim that they’re playing with half of a kit, as if the rest of Swordie’s moves on are comparable to Mac’s subpar aspects of his kit just because they’re not on the same caliber as Dtilt or Uair

Kinda sad with Lucario & Marth being so low because I really like both of them but they both can be very frustrating to play. getting killed at 70% with Lucario and not getting any tippers with marth so the enemy survives till 150%+ .... Kinda sad. And Marth's aerial tippers are a bit on the weak side too. Kind of a shame both characters got screwed in ultimate. I think both characters go up at least one whole tier if they're allowed to do what they are intended to do (surviving with aura or non stop tippers with Marth.) but that's not gnna happen all the time.

Meta knight can struggle in some matchups but he is solid. He can lead into tech chases with dair and down tilt and he gets a lot of damage from edge guarding. The game plan is to weave in and out of the zone people will try to punish you to get them to sing so you can wiff punish with your good ground speed and frame data. Solo main mk isn't the best but he is a great co-main with a space animal or sword is really powerful.

I like this meta knight placing especially because I use meta knight as a secondary (used to main him but he's bad), sometimes it's hard to connect the up b bc you have to decide whether to hold out or in which slightly changes the second swoop's position, so if the opponent mixes up his di and sdi throughout the combo it's extremely difficult to land the full combo on most characters

Hey Esam, My Name is Darx, I got a question on Kirby as a low tier, I think Kirby as more in a place in mid tier... I think Kirby deserves at least mid tier, only because of his neutral b.. Neutral B can give Kirby alot more advantages to Kirby like Ryu's Fireball or mega man's Chakram, or etc. Most Abilities allow Kirby to combo... I don't play alone and haven't been in Online play, but i lab alot and Kirby copy/Neutral b can change Kirby's neutral play style, so I wanna ask if u can make a Kirby copy ability tier list by u of course

You talk about how everyone can space kirby, but you forget that he can still throw out lots of hit boxes while moving around, which, when kirby also spaces properly, is hard to punish without a sword. On top of that, fair can lead into some fairly good combos on a lot of characters at low percents, and fair 1 and 2 can sometimes lead to f smashes. He's also fairly good at edge guarding, Bair is pretty strong if he hits it, nair is fast and lasts a pretty long time, and if he has enough time, he can get in a down air, one of the longest spikes in the game. Also if he has time, His up b can also be used to catch recoveries, and if he gets the spike close to the stage, it's strong enough that most of the cast can't recover, and the rest get edge guarded again.

honestly i feel like mk up b is most consistent during ladders, there are places u can position urself so that regardless of ur di no angle up b will hit. This is a much more controlled situation than up b oos which u kinda just have to guess or react super well to their positioning. I have lost many more sets to up b oos fallouts than ladder fallouts.

My biggest problem with mk isn't his linearity. It feels like the game is actively fighting him His uair and dair hitboxes are 1f active with 3 different launch angles in a game where airborne characters can push one another. Then he has other problems like him almost requiring tap jump on so he can do f1 fh uair while also needing frame perfect idj for other routes Don't get me wrong if you are a big hurtbox/floaty he's laddering like crazy. But once peoplerealize they left smash 4 sdi multiplier on uair the ladders aren't that broken

I agree on the game actively fighting him for sure. I don't agree on your reasonings tho. Yes, There are 3 different launch angles yeah, and you have to take into account that airborne chars can push each other. But that ultimately is just part of mastering the ladder combo in general imo. If it was t o o easy then it wouldn't feel as niche or satisfying finally mastering it. I don't use tap jump to get f1 fh up airs..... I do have my L button mapped to jump tho. I don't think getting the timing down is _that_ hard imo. It's essentially just pushing one button right after the other. The problem I have with him is that once you leave the ladder or bridge threshold (generally around 40ish%) it becomes harder and harder for metaknight to take the stock, and since rage is in this game and you're so light, you gotta play without making mistakes or you'll get blown up. So basically, you have to master laddering and actually finishing with it properly, and if you don't get that, you have to play even more perfect the higher and higher the percent goes.

@@GoharioFTW you literally cannot f1 fh aerial without tap jump. It's actually coded into the game to be impossible thanks to the sh macro. Also it's primarily his bridges that care about characters not being able to go through one another. Because you normally have to hit the side hitboxes on dair. Since they have a better angle. But your body can push them out of the way and trying to compensate by doing it later gives you the middle hitbox. It's why rar dair bridges work better despite dair being the same on both sides

I literally consistently do this and I don't have tap jump on so how is it impossible? And once again, isn't that all just part of mastering the character in-itself?

18:09 That Kirby player is Guilheww, they got 3rd at the event instead of 2nd cuz no way Kirby is ever winning against a top snake player. Their most notable win at the event was against Leaf (Mexican Peach player). But they have recently beaten Javi and Cloudy, as well as taking games off Maister. Also online they've beaten Riddles, take that with a grain of salt if you want. They're pretty young and they've only been doing locals and online tournaments, so maybe in the future we'll get to see Guilheww travel, which I'd love to see as a Kirby main myself.

I do agree Ganon is bottom 2 but hes not the worst he does have a usable recovery not saying it's good but it's about average but the main thing is he has aerials unlike Little Mac Ganon is still really bad tho
